While the announcement of Ninja Gaiden 4 has given reason to be optimistic about the future of PlatinumGames, the publisher has seemingly spilled more top talent.
In a video spotted by VGC, ex-PlatinumGames Vice President and industry veteran Hideki Kamiya appeared to confirm that Yusuke Miyata (Bayonetta 3), Takahisa Taura (Astral Chain), Kenji Saito (Metal Gear Rising), and Masaki Yamanaka (Anarchy Reigns) have all left the company.
Kamiya, of course, also departed the studio last year, and has since established Clovers with Capcom, which is working on a sequel to the much-loved action-adventure game, Okami. A chunk of the current Clovers team has followed Kamiya from PlatinumGames.
Meanwhile, Housemarque recently announced it had scooped up Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari as a lead designer, making this something of an exodus for the celebrated developer.
Obviously, as mentioned, the studio still has Ninja Gaiden 4 in development, and it’s collaborating with Team Ninja on that, so the project should be in safe hands. It’ll be interesting to see what PlatinumGames does next, though, and how it recovers from all these departures.

One less step away from getting bought by Microsoft.
Yeah, they're cooked. Is there even a single director left who worked on one of their games that weren't licensed crap to finance their own series?
Not a good look for Platinum, especially when they own no IP either so will be hard to attract any buyers if things get any worse.
Yeah this doesn't looks good for Platinum and now i'm worried with NG 4 quality. Please don't messed up the game.
@PuppetMaster the game is 70% complete already. It's unlikely it will have any effect.
What’s next for PG* has to be bought by the likes of Tencent or PIF since all of the other gobblers seem to be busy regurgitating from biting off more than they can chew recently. #RIPPG*
Does make me a bit concerned about Ninja Gaiden 4 but it has been in development for a while and Team Ninja is involved so hopefully people at the latter stepped up if that was needed.
@Nem Still worried cause they could messed up the 30%
Doesn’t sound good, but maybe not all gloom and doom. Time will tell I guess.
I hope they don't f**k up Ninja Gaiden 4...
I miss the times when PlatinumGames-related news usually filled me with joy, now I'm just filled with sadness.😞
I pray that all Platinum does for Ninja Gaiden 4 is bringing coffee to Team Ninja developers.
@Dalamar Facts. They look more like a support studio in this matter everyday. I was very worried when Plat's named splashed up because we don't need them poisoning the great thing Team Ninja has going on. Plat's very lucky to be given the chance to team up.
Is this even the Platinum Games we know anymore?
Can't even remember who is left from the original talent.
platinum games simply isn't platinum games any longer. ninja gaiden looks a bit lackluster to be hoenst and for good reason. a nier sequel looks more and more unlikely with each passing day... and even if it was in production, is that what we even want knowing that the usual talent wasn't involved? maybe s-e will keep that in-house if it ever sees the light of day.
@arsmolinarc you beat me to it
@Steel76 it has a 6/7 written all over it, but maybe this will be an underdog story.
Oh brother, I got excited seeing the astral chain thumbnail, just to read bad news.
Housemarque should pick some of them up
@Porco Ninja Gaiden 4 looks fine. The only thing that looks bad about it is the edgy anime design of the new protagonist.
Besides, Team Ninja is involved so the game is in good hands. It is ultimately their franchise after all.
@TruestoryYep lmao "edgy anime design"
Let's hope it turns out well.
Then again they are with Tencent and have a stake in them or something.
The studio is different now, it happens. The quality may still be there hopefully but even still. They are a 'hopefully' studio fit to still put out a great hack n slash worth of Ninja Gaiden.
We will see but yeah unfortunate but what staff and what reasons hmm.
@TruestoryYep i hope you are right. i did find the environments to look incredibly barren and uninspired. the special "finishing" moves looked tacked on and out of place in this type of a game, as if they were stripped from viewtiful joe or street fighter alpha 2 or something
@Dalamar For real Ninja Gaiden is one of my all time favourite game franchises and to be honest I've never really been a fan of Platinum even at their peak. I love Bayonetta 1 but haven't really liked anything else they made so I'm not exactly happy they're involved with something I really care about especially now they've bled all of their actual talent and it really didn't help that the gameplay in the trailer looked waaaaay more like a generic modern Platinum title than a Team Ninja game I don't know why Team Ninja felt the need to outsource a revival of their biggest icon
@Keyblade-Dan Team Ninja didn't feel the need, it was Phil Spencer's idea.
