Re: Talking Point: Could 2017 Be Gaming's Greatest Ever Year?

Dohv

Yes this is the best year in gaming for me since I've been an adult. Horizon and Zelda are amazing games, and I'll be getting Yakuza 0 soon. Plus there's Mass Effect next month and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Persona 5 the month after.

If you own a PlayStation 4 or Switch, it's been great and will get better.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 156

Dohv

On PS4 Pro- The amazing Horizon Zero Dawn, this game is phenomenal and I'm not very far into, as I'm only level 13 and spent most of my time gathering supplies and hunting machines for fire canisters.

On my Switch- The idiotic company UPS delivered my Switch yesterday, but not Zelda which was supposed to arrive yesterday. Now they say I won't get it until Monday.

On my 2DS- I'm still playing through Pokémon Yellow from the VC, and I think I could finish that up real soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 157

-On my PS4 Pro I finished Rise Of The Tomb Raider and now I'm playing through Titanfall 2's campaign. I heard great things about the story, but wanted to hold off for a sale because FPS have short campaigns. Got it for $20 at Best Buy. Plan to finish it before the weekend is over.

-On my 2DS I've been playing Pokemon Yellow version via the Virtual Console.

I have my Switch on Preorder for Friday, but I don't know if I'll cancel it or keep it. There's so many great PlayStation exclusives out and coming out soon, while Zelda is the only game worth playing on the Switch for a while.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 156

Dohv

On PS4 I just picked up Rise Of The Tomb Raider last week and I've been playing through that a bit. Also I just picked up Titanfall 2 for only $20. I've heard great things about the campaign, so I've wanted to give it a try. But not at full price. On Tomb Raider I've been stuck on this witch boss and I just realized it's the DLC and not the main story.

So I'm going to exit that boss fight and just focus on the main story for now, as I want to finish both Tomb Raider and Titanfall 2 before Horizon Zero Dawn and my Nintendo Switch with Zelda arrives, becuase those two games will probably keep me busy for a long time considering I still have class and work.

Re: Sony's First-Party Lineup Is the Most Impressive Right Now

Dohv

I'm very happy with PlayStation's upcoming lineup. Horizon Zero Dawn, TLOU Part II, Spider-Man PS4, Detroit Become Human, and of course God Of War. Meanwhile on my Xbox One S there isn't anything to look forward to. MS is too worried about new controllers instead of games. I have a Nintendo Switch pre ordered and Zelda will last me a while on that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 94

Dohv

On my PS4 I just finished Uncharted 1 of the UC Collection. Now I'm just starting Uncharted 2 as I type this. Uncharted 2 was amazing when I first played it in 2009 and it is one of my favorite games of all time. I'm trying to finish the collection before Black Friday and I get Fallout 4 and Until Dawn.

Re: Japan's Holding Back the PlayStation 4

Dohv

"From a business point of view, it doesn't make much sense to put too much effort into new-gen consoles as they're not as widespread in Japan,"

And that's exactly why the PS4 isn't selling. Japanese devs aren't giving people reason to buy PS4 since they keep putting everything on PS3. Leave PS3 behind and watch a lot of people upgrade. Until then the PS4 will continue to sell badly.

Re: Rise of the Tomb Raider Officially Announced for PS4

Dohv

No one is going to buy an Xbox for this. And Square Enix were complaining about Tomb Raider not selling. It definitely won't sell now. They already sent it to a slow death by releasing it the same day as Fallout 4 on Xbone. And now their biggest fan base won't be able to play the game for a whole year. And plus Uncharted 4 which will inevitably be eons better will be out by then. It better be 20 dollars when it releases on PS4 or it won't sell.

Re: Guerrilla Games Thanks the Players for a Very Special E3

Dohv

@kyleforrester87 Don't doubt Guerrilla. They are one of the top studios in the industry. They always nail the gameplay and graphics. If they can make better stories they'll be in the same category as some of the best studios like Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, and Sony Santa Monica. And they've took the initiative to improve their writing by hiring the Fallout New Vegas writer and a bunch of Witcher 3 guys.

Re: June 2015 NPD: Batman Takes PS4 for a Ride to the Top of the Charts

Dohv

It's pretty clear, last gen was such a fluke. The Wii selling 100 million consoles ? That was all casuals buying that terrible system. The PS3 being neck and neck with the 360 also. It's clear that PlayStation is back being dominate as it was during the PS One and PS2 era. It probably won't do PS2 numbers, but it will definitely trump the PS3 in terms of sales.

Re: The Campaign for a Better PSN Continues

Dohv

I rarely ever play online, but I can see how frustrating this is. Why are we paying for online when the service is terrible ? Their main excuse for making us pay for PSN is for better servers. Yet we haven't been getting that. Either make it free again and stop stealing our money or get of your lazy butts and actually fix the dang network.

Re: Australian Retailer Lists PS4 Version of Rise of the Tomb Raider

Dohv

@Gamer83 I'm not as mad at Square as I was because they're making it up to PlayStation with exclusives. I'm more mad at MS because instead of trying to make their own new IP to compete with ND they took the lazy way and paid money for timed exclusivity of TR. That's just pure laziness.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 74

Dohv

After a strong week from Naughty Dog, I've been in the mode to playing my 2nd play through of one of the greatest games of all time in The Last Of Us Remastered on my PlayStation 4. So that's what today will be for me on this 4th of July, and later Burgers and Hot Dogs.

Re: Oh Look, It's a Nintendo PlayStation Console

Dohv

Glad this never happened. Nintendo is so out of touch and full of themselves. If it wasn't from PlayStation I probably wouldn't be a gamer.

I would get so tired of the same milked Mario Bros 100, Zelda 86, and Mario Kart 20. I like new experiences and Nintendo doesn't offer that.

Also Nintendo went from dominate to always being behind PlayStation to where they're now. Dead in console business, except for the few Nintendo fans who haven't grown up yet.

Re: 8 Months of Work on Uncharted 4 Was Scrapped, Says Nathan Drake Actor

Dohv

This is good news. Niel Druckmann and Bruce Straley are the masterminds behind Uncharted 2 and The Last Of Us, two of the greatest games of all time are the some of the best devs in the industry. There passion for their work is astounding. I can't wait Drake is going to go out with a bang for his final game.

Re: Sony: We Like to Have a Balance of Sequels and Risky Concepts in Our First-Party Portfolio

Dohv

"So, from a management standpoint, it's really important to assign people to different types of games, because there's always a chance of fatigue."

You hear that Nintendo and Microsoft.Microsoft has studios dedicated to one franchise. 343 for example. They even named themselves after a Halo character, and Halo has basically became a yearly franchise now. These guys aren't nearly as talented as Bungie and their Halo games aren't as good as Bungie's were. They'll be milking Halo For the foreseeable future. Turn 10 is another example, they're the Forza factory, and Forza has become a yearly franchise now. Another example would be Black Tusks studio whi just recently changed their name to The Coalition which is a Gears of war reference. Microsoft made them cancel a new IP to become the Gears factory. The will turn this into a yearly franchise. At least Nitendo makes new IP every once in a while, but its still rare. Sony is the only one that brings many new IP every generation and they give their studios creative freedom that others don't. Naughty Dog is wrapping up the Uncharted franchise with "A Theirsf's End", Guerrilla Games is giving Killzone a break with Horizon and Rigs. Media Molecule is already on their 3rd new IP with Dreams. And many more of their studios are working on new IP.

Re: Feature: We Grade E3 2015's Press Conferences

Dohv

Sony A+- What an amazing conference they destroyed the competition. The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn from one of my favorite developers Guerrilla Games looks amazing and looks to be Guerrillas masterpiece. Day 1 for both of those in 2016. Shenmue III is PS4 exclusive which is soo cool. Dreams from Media Molecule just looks crazy, they're the most creative studio out there. Rigs for Project Morpheus from Guerrilla Cambridge looks like a ton of fun. Giant mechanism with VR how can you not be excited for that. Sony dropped the most bombs.

Microsoft- C+ There conference really didn't have much that interested me. The new rare IP was just a cgi trailer not saying much. The relied on the same Gears, Halo, and Forza like they have been every single year for the past 10 years. And when the consensus is that your best announcement was backwards compatibility you know it wasn't a great confrence big announcement wise. Halo demo was boring as hell, that franchise has been on a hug decline since Bungie left, the Gears 4 demo was so dark you can't see anything and the new characters looks o generic and boring. I gave them another chance to sell me on getting another Xbone and they failed. I guess I'm not into the dudebro junk anymore.

EA-D+ Outside of Battlefront that conference can kick rocks.

Ubisoft- D+ None of their games looked interesting to me except for "For Honor". And my hype died for that game since its online crap. The Division hahad 2 downgrades already.

Bethesda- B Doom looks amazing,I don't really care for Fallout but it looked straight.

Square Enix- C Not enough gameplay I really want to see Deus Ex and Hit man gameplay but instead we get stupid CGI trailers and I found out Hit man will be digital only when it releases December 2015 and the actual case version won't come out until next year, so they lose a few points with that. But they kind of made it up since they have a few PS4 excexclusives they announced.

Nintendo- They get no grade from me since I didn't watch and don't care about them anymore. But from what I heard it was a joke of an conference and Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves. Even Nitnedo fans were saying it was terrible and you know Nintendo fans would jump off a skyscraper if Iwata and Miyomoto told them too.

Re: E3 2015: Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls Confirmed for PS4

Dohv

@stevie85 Because Sony didn't just announce The Last Guardian from Sony Japan Studio, Horizon from Guerrilla Games, and Dreams from Media Molecule last night. Also Quantic Dream is working on a new IP that we'll be seeing soon. Stop acting like remasters stop people from making new IP.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's Big E3 2015 Press Conference Deliver?

Dohv

Lmao Sony slayed the competition. Everyone writing them off. Horizon looks incredible. Horizon and The Last Guardian are both the most original games for this generation. I love Guerrilla Games and Horizon just looks crazy.

Horizon-Guerrilla Games
The Last Guardian-Sony Japan Studio
Dreams-Media Molecule

3 new IP.

We still didn't see
Quantic Dreams's new IP
Sony Bend's new IP
Gran Turismo 7 from Polyphony Digital
God Of War 4 from Sony Santa Monica Studio

This is why I love PlayStation, it has epitomized diversity for many many years. There's always something for everyone.

Sony still has Paris Game Show, TGS, and PSX. Wow.
