If you're paying close enough attention, you may have seen some leaked gameplay footage of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake doing the rounds the last few days.
The footage is still around if you care to look for it, though it sounds like it's not really representative of the game at this point.
Recently, Ubisoft's official Prince of Persia account on X responded to the leak, explaining exactly what it is fans were watching.
"This footage was from a workshop we hosted to get feedback from community members back in early 2024," the post reads, meaning the footage in the leak is nearly two years old at this point.
"The game has changed so much since then, and we can’t wait to show it next year."

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has had all sorts of ups and downs since its initial announcement in 2020.
Facing almost unanimous criticism over its visuals and character designs, Ubisoft went back to the drawing board, switching development studios and essentially starting over again.
More recently, rumours have been doing the rounds that the remake will reappear during this year's Game Awards, where it'll apparently drop a January 2026 release date.
Given the official account's phrasing above, that it "can't wait to show it next year", we're inclined to think it's not quite as close as that rumour would have us believe.
That being said, Ubisoft itself has said the game is due out in the first quarter of 2026, so it shouldn't be too far off regardless.

And this right here is why I hate the leak culture.
Yeah, my experience tells that when a company says "The product changed so much since then" you should brace yourself for something worse than what you saw.
Why? Because major changes costs major money and companies do not like to expend major money to change a product, unless the change costs less money than letting the project flop. Case in point, Chernobyl Sonic design from the Sonic movies.
Well it would be cool to see something from the game
@BlaizeV i play the original when was release Back that day. But i agree with you budy. You totally right!
it's a good sign that ubisoft handed the project over to montreal, considering their talent and that they had designed the original game... but it makes me wonder why ubisoft management initially treated this remake as a junk project by having an unproven studio (mumbai) work on it for years, nearly canceling the project in the process? shouldn't this have been a high status remake deserving of top talent and resources? i guess the suits thought they could get away with the bare minimum and save a few bucks in the process haha... with all the delays, project mismanagement and exchanging of studios, they likely had to triple their budget for this... so much for their cost saving strategy. goes to show that greediness can often backfire on you.
with all that said, i don't think this remake has a chance at selling well regardless of the finished product since remake fatigue is a thing now and the original game, while a success at the time of release, didn't exactly set the world on fire. initial sales were so poor, that ubisoft resorted to a promotion where they gave out free games with the purchase of sands of time. the game went on to sell 2m copies but the financial "success" of the game on its own merits remains unknown... how profitable was it considering the free games ubisoft gave away in the process? i really enjoyed the game at the time, but it is for a very specific audience and won't appeal to most gamers in this era. this remake is questionable to say the least.
So if that footage is two years old, that puts it at around the third attempt at making this game, and has been rebooted a further two times since.
That also means no TGA trailer either....I hope they're not gonna delay it again.
my bold claim is this game will end up similiar to assassin's creed and will flop because of it
the press will probably compare it to ac once it comes out
@Oram77
You can’t say that about Welsh people.
Either way, those character designs are neither surprising for a ubisoft slop title and they look rough.
2 years of polish might help a little, but it will still be bad.
Understandable, hope it's doing well, gotten Forbidden Sands and Two Thrones so can't wait for this remake to finally get into some of the other Prince of Persia games.
@CielloArc Your first point just tells me you don't know anything about game development because they ALWAYS change drastically and don't start looking like what you want them to until the final days, not to mention this was for a closed doors tech demo so its not even Alpha footage. Gamers time and time again prove they have no idea how development works every time theres a leak (case in point everyone complaining about the GTA6 and Wolverine leaks looking like *****)
And your example makes zero sense because they spent a ton of extra time to fix sonic's redesign and it ended up objectively better, not worse like your comment imples.
