Leaked Footage of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Almost Two Years Old, Ubisoft Confirms 1

If you're paying close enough attention, you may have seen some leaked gameplay footage of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake doing the rounds the last few days.

The footage is still around if you care to look for it, though it sounds like it's not really representative of the game at this point.

Recently, Ubisoft's official Prince of Persia account on X responded to the leak, explaining exactly what it is fans were watching.

"This footage was from a workshop we hosted to get feedback from community members back in early 2024," the post reads, meaning the footage in the leak is nearly two years old at this point.

"The game has changed so much since then, and we can’t wait to show it next year."

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has had all sorts of ups and downs since its initial announcement in 2020.

Facing almost unanimous criticism over its visuals and character designs, Ubisoft went back to the drawing board, switching development studios and essentially starting over again.

More recently, rumours have been doing the rounds that the remake will reappear during this year's Game Awards, where it'll apparently drop a January 2026 release date.

Given the official account's phrasing above, that it "can't wait to show it next year", we're inclined to think it's not quite as close as that rumour would have us believe.

That being said, Ubisoft itself has said the game is due out in the first quarter of 2026, so it shouldn't be too far off regardless.
