Finally started Dying Light after getting the platinum edition in the sale. It starts off slow and is a little overwhelming at first but I am starting to get into it now
Really like Dirt 5. Previously had both Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally 2.0 and found 2.0 got old really fast, simulation driving games are not for me I suppose. Having played both recently I prefer Wreckfest over Dirt as you can have a direct impact on the other cars but both are fun (the multiplayer Wreckfest trophy is a nightmare though). Not sure the other 2 are for me this month but seems like a good month in general!
Absolute love Tomb Raider - 1 and 2 were my first PlayStation games. 3 was always my favourite. I have enjoyed all of them to some degree. I found new Lara a bit annoying but enjoyed the games for what they were. Thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider was great and captured the Tomb Raider feel well up until you reach the village, went downhill from there for me and I never finished it. Hope they bring back a more confident, experienced, witty Lara for whatever is next
After slowly finishing RE0 & 1, the 2 remake and platinuming RE3 remake last week I am replaying 4 for the first time in years. Have to say I am not enjoying it. Will keep powering through and see if it hooks me but about to hit the castle section and that was always my least favourite.
My love for 8 is undying. I havent played the remaster but I have heard it isn't the best. Last time I played it I played it on PC with mods which were great.
Love the series, each game for different reasons. Hope 16 adds to the fun!
Looking forward to Tennis World Tour 2, will be the first plus game I try straight away after a few months of adding straight to the library or already owning
@Vacuumator I think you have just sealed the deal for me - will pick it up as soon as I get the chance. I didn't know there was a Switch port coming but will probably stick with the PS4 version
After a break for some hiking I'm still on BOTW and have bought both SS and Link's Awakening this week! Also watching my partner play Fenyx Rising - seems to be really enjoying it
@playstation1995 how is Dying Light? Have been tempted by it for a while. I enjoyed Dead Island even with it's flaws and love Resident Evil game so curious how it compares
I really like racing games but I very rarely play multiplayer. The AI on most games just makes no sense. I think Wipeout is my most played game and the AI is stupidly hard. Been playing Hotshot Racing on the Switch a lot this weekend and it is almost impossible AI wise on the hardest difficultly, I have reverted to a third playthrough of BOTW. I would say Crash is the best for single player racer on the PS4/5 but if anyone has any other suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
I don't really understand what the term "nickel-and-diming" means. GoT was one of the few games I paid full price for though and happily support meaningful content
I finished RE Village in the week. Great game but wasn't so sure about the factory section. Since then I have started another run of Days Gone, all the talk about it recently made me want to go back. Will do a second run of RE Village alongside
Currently replaying the main series. I have just replayed Zero and even as a fan of the series - and someone who had played it before - the character switching and dropping items became really really tedious. 3 remake is actually very fun and seems to get judged on what it isn't more than what it is. I can understand the importance of 4 in gaming history but I always found it went downhill post village. Can't wait to replay 1, 2 and 3 remakes in a row!
@Tf20 I played it through lockown too, was a great distraction and felt the same about the plat. I would recommend playing on PS5 - I switched from PS4 to PS5 mid game and found it a better experience
I don’t really get that they want to focus on blockbusters and franchises by abandoning a game that has the ground work for both and the potential for a great sequel. Anyway, I enjoyed my time with the game and sometimes a sequel is a bad idea
I'm really disappointed to hear this. Of all the Sony news that is supposed to have annoyed or outraged me recently this might be the first one to bother me.
Really thought the sequel would have been great. Tightening up the story, Deacon's character and melee combat a little and building on the ecology of the freaks could have been really interesting. I would have thought the work of the first game would reduce development time...
@Ristar24 I really enjoyed 3 too. Thought the contrast with the faithful 2 remake was fun. Never really understood the uproar about removing filler locations but probably just me
I finally dispatched the cult this week in AC Odyssey so wondering if I should go for the platinum. Playing Crash 4 too which is very rage enducing and started my RE play through. About halfway through Zero - minus the long Switch load times it is pretty fun but powering though to get to 1 remake!
I really enjoyed Days Gone despite its flaws, in fact it was my first platinum ever after gaming for 20+ years. People seem to focus on it having the same aspects as other open worlds but for some reason that is only a problem here. Deacon's story is up and down but I was really interested in what had happened (despite guessing really early on) and the evolution of the freaks.
The hordes really stood out for me. I remember seeing the first one from afar, being ripped to shreads when I ran into one by accident, then scraping through killing my first one and finally killing them all.
Have to say I felt the performance improvement from base PS4 to PS5 was significant so if you can play it for the first time on PS5 I would recommend it. I think the foundations are there for a really great sequel
Still working my way through the cult in Odyssey and started my replay of all the main Resident Evil series, with Zero, before 8 releases. Also been watching my partner play Detroit - interesting game and I might be a little in love with Connor
I have been keeping an eye on this, still not sure whether to try it. The only other tennis game I have is Mario Tennis on the Switch - a fun game but I struggle to implement all special tricks so makes multiplayer just frustrating. Been looking for another tennis game for a while
Absolutely love Resident Evil even the weaker entries. Even though I have them on PS4 I am buying the collections on Switch to help replay all of the main entries before 8 comes out!
After loving 7, 8 and 9 (and 6 retrospectively) and being meh on 10 I found 12 a strange one. I loved the style, the world, liked the battle system and the hunt side quest but I was always expecting something else to click. I don't really know what but felt like it was missing something. I have Zodiac Age but have never played it, maybe I should give it another go. Strangely, I really enjoyed 15, the scene at the end with the friends probably erased all the bad 🤣
It's Assassin's Creed Odyssey for me after starting it this week. Never really played the series but really interested in ancient Greece so thought it was a good place to start. I wasn't really caught by it at first but find myself wanting to play it whenever I have some free time. The cult will perish!
Both work, I think it depends on the game. You could argue that a large open world with "nothing to do" brings you more into the world through pure exploration, and personally I have always enjoyed the sense of isolation in games where you are encouraged to explore. A smaller open world works great for something like Spiderman. I think for both instances it depends on the quality of the the world design, side quests and overall world building
@Flurpsel I thought the same. Wasn't a fan but bought DOOM 2016 dirt cheap on ebay. Absolutely loved it and bought Eternal day one. I did enjoy it but found the increased platforming sections frustrating at times and especially toward the end there was so much going on in combat it was difficult to keep track.
@Flaming_Kaiser I always expected them to remake it after the 3, 4, 5 DS games but the scope is a different level I suppose. A 2D upgrade faithful to the style with quality of life improvements I would enjoy, anything with Celes I won't complain
Already have FF7R physically and don't know much about the other 2 but still a great month.
Control last month was a perfect game for plus, I probably never would have bought it but I enjoyed it (especially the maze), hopefully this will do the same for others.
I may go back to FF7R for the platinum, it came out at a busy time; RE3 remake, Doom Eternal and TLOU2, so didnt give it as much time as I usually would have. Yuffie is my favourite character too so excited for the DLC.
A bit off topic but as my personal favourite I still wish SE had put more effort into the FF8 remaster, it is much better originally on Stream with mods. I also find it strange they have left 6 alone considering how well regarded it is
I have finished pretty much all my backlog now. Completed Miles Morales during the week - was a little disappointed, thought the original was much better. Considering replaying Resident Evil from 0 through 7 before 8 comes out
Maybe Sony are using these to inform people who don't follow gaming news so closely - this State of Play was covered on BBC. I would be more likely to watch one State of Play than look up these games individually and I am a pretty keen gamer. I haven't followed the previous State of Plays closely so I am not sure if a big announcement is common
Platinumed GoT and Spiderman remastered so I have finally started Miles Morales. It's fun so far and I'm glad Peter is still featured. I usually roll my eyes at Marvel movie humour but really enjoy the voice work for Peter. Interested to see where the story goes and how Miles grows.
This is the only site I visit for PlayStation news, features, reviews etc. Aside from the up to date stuff I would enjoy some retro reviews or features, how do some of the older classics or famous titles stand up today? Maybe tied in with the context at the time and if the titles have a legacy beyond themselves

Going for the platinum on Resident Evil 3 remake. The game is a lot of fun even playing it repeatedly for the trophies
