I had a PS4 for a few years but never had PS Plus. The collection was definitely a deciding factor for me signing up after being lucky enough to get a PS5 and seeing the other games I had missed out on every month. Sold my PS4 cheap to a family member and threw in all the physical copies of the collection games I already had so has worked out pretty well.
I finished GoT this week - fun, very stylish. Probably the last PS4 original I will buy (not including the backlog). I was inspired to reflect on the PS4 generation as Jin might:
Tall grass, sense, stealth kill All in a generation Scavange, bow, slow time
Platinumed Spiderman remastered last night, finally ready for Miles on PS5.
Love Tomb Raider - the original 2 were my first 2 games on PS1(though 3 was my favourite). Glad to hear something is being worked on. I would like a more fun, witty Lara from before the reboot as others have mentioned. The reboot trilogy is enjoyable for what it is but it never felt much like the spirit of Tomb Raider to me - if I never heard Lara say "Jonah" again I wouldn't be upset
Had 2 preorders put in and managed to get one day one. I kept the other preorder for the second round to give to a friend, unfortunately the company messed up the order and we lost it - a shame but hope it went to someone else who is enjoying it though
Appreciate articles like this - have played Astro, Dirt 5 and Spiderman remastered (before getting to Miles), but I have been eyeing a couple of others on the list. Only had a slim before so PS4 games look and play great too.
@Flurpsel that is exactly how I would describe it. Not sure if they were trying to make the castle a series standard location like the mansion or the police station but it fell flat for me. I almost played the ps4 version recently after replaying 0 and the 1, 2 & 3 remakes but was put off by the castle. Maybe its not as bad as I remember - 0 doesn't hold up well especially and I managed to enjoy that for what it was.
Still on Ghost of Tsushima, just reached Act III. Bought FFX on the switch - was never one of my favourites but maybe this playthrough can convince me. Eying up Persona 4 on Steam too...
I am a pretty big RE fan but I have never held 4 up as the series standard as many seem to. I can appreciate the innovations it made at the time but after the great atmosphere of the first section the castle chapters are a massive drag, to me it felt like it was expanded unnecessarily in the middle. I would like a remake, but I think Veronica needs it more and would benefit from the attitude of refreshing some aspects.
Have been tempted by this game, heard some good things through word of mouth. I would definitely try a demo. There are probably a lot more games I would buy if I could try them out first.
Big RE fan so I would probably pick these up if true. I have enjoyed all the remakes (even 3 which I found really fun) but to have the originals would be great for some quick gaming with their short run times. I agree with the RE Code Veronica remake requests - I find that harder to play as a classic than the original trilogy for some reason
After last week's post GoT hooked me, so mainly playing though that. Might sneak in some original Tomb Raider 3 on Steam - feel like tackling sudden death around every corner
Had so much fun playing Wreckfest with my partner and a few drinks (minus a few rage inducing races/targets). Will have to check this out. Wonder if the performance will improve noticeably from my old slim to PS5.
I've always wanted to play the first one but never managed to get around to it. Will have to play it before the sequel is out. I mindlessly enjoyed Dead Island as an escape and put way too many hours in despite its many flaws - had always heard Dying Light was much better
GoT arrived this week so have been making my way through that. Looks amazing but find it always takes me a while to get into open world games. Had a strong urge to replay RE3 remake but will probably do some more on Mario 3D All-stars and some of the DLC on BOTW
I have to say this is a strange one. I have never felt compelled to comment on this game despite my own personal opinions and have sat back and watched a lot of the discord but I have seen a bit of a shift on the opinions or at least the tolerance of opinion on TLOU2. Just to preface, and its a little ridiculous I feel the need to do this but, I am very gay as is my boyfriend. I was quite "meh" on the first game aside from the great relationship building (he loved it). Part 2 is something different, the same dedication to characters but I didnt feel that story wise. I felt the overarching revenge story and the conclusion were nothing new from the media in the last 30 years (I dont want to post spoilers) it definitely dragged on a little too long despite my enjoyment of a more sunny later environment. I felt a certain character's motivations were pretty random beyond the big spoiler and it was a redemption story without merit that was reinforced with a situation that wasn't needed just to force the audiences perspective for the final scene. I maintain you can't have a morality tale about killing when you murder countless people and any one of the hundreds of people you are forced to kill could be either protagonist or antagonist in the theory of the game. It fell a little flat with me and fell into many of the zombie genre tropes (tribes, zealot military organisation, skin head insane group). I read a lot and the story just isn't the masterpiece it is made out to be (I have read more compelling literature about virus enhanced spiders), maybe gaming wise but I would also argue that rpgs and jrpgs specially have had much more complex storytelling for a long time. The gameplay though smooth is the same refined from uncharted 1 (I remember coming to both series in the ps4 era and feeling the comparison). Visually, it is unmatched, the acting is top notch but for me it just isn't what it is hyped up to be either positively or negatively. I have absolutely no desire to play it again. A little side note, I had 3 game altering bugs while playing, yet compared to the several articles about FF7R broken textures (which I never noticed) TLOU2 was either perfect for most people or given way more rope to hang itself with(TLOU2 has great rope physics if you didn't know). After reading about this game in alomst every comment section for the last 8 months I felt the need to give my first and last opinion on it. Happy new year everyone!

@Rob_230 has that gone now? I haven't been to the city centre for a while for obvious reasons but I used to see it on my commute

@Col_McCafferty strange response, we were encouraged to give our opinions so I did. I guess my opinion is only valid if it matches yours
