Re: Returnal Is Sony's Second Most Unpopular PC Game at Launch

@MonkeyDLuffy19 Playing through each biome is easy indeed; however, for me the design of the bosses is annoying and sometimes unfair. Bosses are not that difficult either, but the loosing the character progress if you die is rather frustating. That's why the game feels difficult for me, I have any problem with soulslike games for instance, because we do not loose the character, so, a few tries and you can beat the bosses (in fact the areas in souls games are much harder than those of returnal). The way I play returnal is passing the entire biome AND beat the boss without dying, saving the progress between biomes (but, it is possible to save one time in those machines that I can't recall the name). The game feels difficult for me because of loosing the progress and it is really annoying for some people (but It does not bother me that much). I do not know how many times I died, but I believe that it was much more than 30 times lol.

This is a great game, but not for everyone. It is difficult and because you can not save the progress anytime, only rogue like fans will really appreciate the experience. This is by far the most difficult game in PS5 in my opinion (and I love it). Thus, it is a niche game and a smaller number of players is expected.

@kyleforrester87 Anti-maskers would be certainly doomed in that world, LoL. The problems with the science of the show and the game are not directly related to masks, I just enjoyed my time in those areas. I rather can't belive in moving fungi and vaccines made from a child's brain (this is ridiculous even in the game, vaccines are not made this way). For instance, fungi cells have thick and hard cell walls (that animal cells lack) turning them very rigid (being unable to move, like plant cells in general) that is one of the reasons that fugi are sessile organisms. Also, fungi lack tissues and proteins related to tissue movement like actin and myosin. Anyway, I believe that writers deserve some poetic license to make the show/game interesting.

@kyleforrester87 In the game, these areas have higher density of spores since they are closed spaces. Maybe the imune system of people can deal with a few spores in open area, but under higher concentrations these cause a severe infection and then makes sense using masks in closed sites. My point is that these areas were creepy (more dangerous enemies, low visibility, a bit claustrophobic etc) in the game and they will not be present in the show. These two episodes in the show have introductions that tried to increase the science aspect, but there are problems (there are others but I'll avoid comment to not be interpreted as negative points). I really like the show.

The show is great so far. There are some changes that weak the science and are a bit awkward. For instance, fungi spread by spores and/or small pieces of hypha in real life, these are in the air mainly and that's why they use masks in the games (except for Ellie). They remove the masks to not hide the face of the actors in the TV and I understand that. However, what is awkward and innacurate is that, in the show, cordyceps hypha shows the capacity of movement (that is absent in any fungi) ad are used to its propagation. These hypha look more like little tentacles and, despite being disgusting, it is innacurate. In the game, areas with spores are some of the most dangerous, dark and intense and I hope they include this in any point. By the way, the clickers's sound effects are very similar (if not the same) we hear in the games, that was amazing.

This proves that "forspoken" is a very poor name; the working name "Project Athia" was much better. They could name the game simply "Athia" and it would also be better. It seems that same people that poorly wrote the dumb conversations between Frey and her bracelet (or whatever that is) also decided the name of the game creating this ludicrous problem.

@KidBoruto I agree. I have only playstation consoles for this same reason. I mean, I want that SE franchises remain in playstation but not necessarily as exclusives. If Sony buys SE we'll always have these games; however, the Bethesda situation proves that xbox would keep the titles in their environment. I miss the time when these studios were all independent.

Re: Square and Enix Joined Forces 20 Years Ago Today

@KidBoruto I believe not, however, this is the exact reason why they may want one. There is a lot of speculation about Japan regulators forbid these deals but, who knows?
Phill Spencer is often seen with shirts with some japanese text stamped and it is not secret that they need and want more studios. If the EA deal is prohibited xbox will have 70 billion available to purchase other studios. You know, money talks.

SE franchises were always as important as the first part ones for the success playstation. Thus, I just hope these games remain in PS consoles forever since they are among the favorite titles for millions of players, myself included.

Re: Sony Studio Haven Wants to Change Game Development Forever

Very vague claims. Everyone wants to be different and make significant contribution to their fields. This is easier to say than do. They will not invent the wheel and I can not see a life service title changing the game world. In fact, that will likely be a boring multiplayer title. Let's see and I hope they prove me wrong.
