@get2sammyb actually it's not identical, the PS4 version is much more valuable! You get a PS4 copy for your PS4 and a PS5 copy for your PS5. (Yes you'd have to move the disc if you go physical). If you buy just the PS5 version it won't run on a PS4...
Yep, you'll barely find an enthusiast/hardcore gamer that cares, but as usual this will be up there with whatever EA sports game for top multiplatform seller of the year.
The Indie additions seem fine, if niche. But the service really needs an eye catching recent and big game every month. I suppose Vice City is meant to be it, but it's gone down like a turd in the punch bowl.
It's a shame you have to buy both. I'd have paid half the price to play Uncharted 4 again on my PS5 but don't need or want both ATM. Will wait til a big sale.
@theMEGAniggle I've completed it twice, including 100% and Platinum the first time and Main Story + 100% of Frozen Wilds the second time, and that's taken 110h in total. That was on Hard throughout, and I'm no hardcore gamer so died plenty.
I can imagine it feeling rather long if you've done 120 hours and haven't even finished it once.
@theMEGAniggle I don't really understand your point, how can you 'hate' the 22 hour length of Horizon Zero Dawn but find the 17 hours to complete Marvel's Spider-Man to be perfect?
Yes HZD has a lot more side quests and collectibles but they are totally optional.
The ideal length for a AAA game in my opinion- 25ish hours to complete and the same again for all the optional extras.
Really can't wait for HFW. The original was my joint favourite game of the generation and the only thing I played through more than once that wasn't set in Raccoon City. Horizon's story and world building doesn't get enough credit in my opinion.
Sounds about what you'd expect, no? Last of Us 2 and Red Dead 2 were over 100GB. I know PS5 games are meant to be a bit smaller, so presumably it'll been even bigger on PS4.
My tip for January: replay Horizon Zero Dawn, including the excellent Frozen Wilds, on the PS5. It looks and plays absolutely beautifully, and the combat is still fantastic.
Plus, the details of the story are easy to forget, always worth some revision before the sequel.
@Bleachedsmiles agreed, definitely a cynical move here. I got the PS Plus version but also bought it separately so I could get the PS5 upgrade a few weeks ago. Disappointing they didn't do this from the outset.
@somnambulance yes they could have just copied the approach from Ghost of Tsushima and had the PS5 version recognise PS4 saves. Surely not that complicated to implement. I don't have an Xbox but it does seem they have the edge over Sony on this type of thing.
@somnambulance thanks for the answer! I also sold my PS4 and bought a DE PS5 , so their advice would apply to me too. The annoying thing is that the PS4 version is not on sale, while the PS5 Director's Cut is. At least I'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 DC after, but it's so annoying that you don't get both versions if you buy the PS5 version..
They should've given you a refund, that's also poor.
I agree on Death Stranding though, an amazing game that hits heights of immersion and emotional connection that I don't think I've ever had in another video game.
I played the original at launch and thought it was awesome fun, if far too difficult. I then played GTA 3, 4, VC and 5 all circa 2016-2018, and found that GTA5 blew them all out of the water in every way, though 4 has a great story. I do appreciate that the 3D trilogy were revolutionary at the time, but without nostalgia they are clunky frustrating games to play. Perhaps the remasters will solve that.
I had all the original, first three games on the PlayStation. Found them very difficult as a teenager, needed a guide to get through them. Very impressive and iconic games though.
@Rob_230 I totally agree, in fact I prefer the recent TR Trilogy to Uncharted. More depth to the combat and platforming, better level design, loads of puzzles. Uncharted wins on story and set pieces though.
@SoulChimera I also just put my Sega Saturn Quake disc into my PS5 and it didn't run or even give me the PS4 version for free. What IS the world coming to?
In fact what we REALLY need is a patched Red Dead Redemption 2 , with a massive expansion that recreates the original Red Dead Redemption in the RDR2 map and engine, plus perhaps a few missions to knit together the two games. Would be phenomenal.
Red Dead 2 definitely needs 60fps. I booted it up on the PS5 the other day, but it now feels desperately sluggish compared to the likes of the patched HZD and Days Gone
Also patch in the faster item pick-up from Red Dead Online.
Nothing against these games, at least there's a good variety. But I do miss them giving out less mainstream indie titles with PS Plus. That seemed to stop a couple of years ago.
Have replayed this lately on PS5 and am well into Frozen Wilds too. It just looks stunning, and the 60fps makes a world of difference. Really love this game.
Reported 1 crash the other day, perhaps it helped.
Watched it this morning and I also thought it was a bit spoilertastic, if totally nonsensical for people that haven't played the game. Loads of important scenes casually included.
What's the general consensus on this game? Is there a pay off from the massive time sink? I like the look of the locations.
Must admit I got bored before half way through Odyssey.
This has made me realise that you hardly ever see people calling for more Infamous games*, like you do for e.g. Syphon Filter, Sly Cooper, Motorstorm, and others.
I thought Second Son was a really well made game, if a bit forgettable. I guess lots of people felt the same.

Re: Remember to Buy Horizon Forbidden West on PS4, And Not PS5
So in conclusion, buy ALL versions and also a digital deluxe copy, just to be safe.

Re: The PS Plus Game Leaks May Have Finally Stopped
If it leaks a week early every month it's no longer of any benefit.
All that matters is the games being any good!
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is a Whopping 86GB on PS5
@middyone pretty sure LOU2 was about 100GB on my PS5, maybe the patch made it bigger?

Re: PS Store Sale Brings Hundreds of PS5, PS4 Games Under £20
@OthmaneAD ah you're right. Maybe i got confused with the EA Play discount icon
Re: PS Store Sale Brings Hundreds of PS5, PS4 Games Under £20
Don't forget that EA games like Lost in Random and NFS Heat are on EA Play for £20 a year.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West FAQ - Everything You Need to Know
I still can't understand why they're selling a £70 PS5 version. Is it really just to rip people off?
Is there any reason at all why I would want to buy that over the £60 PS4+PS5 version? (I'll buy digital).

Re: Poll: What PlayStation Game Are You Most Looking Forward to in January 2022?
In January I shall mostly be looking forward to February
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
@UltimateOtaku91 I'd argue Uncharted 2 did that some years before Last of Us.
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
@Octane yes maybe, like they changed Spider-Man in the recent Remaster.
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year
Unnecessary TV series cash-in.
I would've been much more interested in more new stories in the LoU world in the mould of Left Behind, probably with minor/new characters.
Unless they're remaking it in VR of course, which would be interesting.
Re: Soapbox: Don't Let F.I.S.T. Pass You By
@MyThoughts31 why not just buy digital? Or it's £30 on Play Asia (plus loads of shipping and tax I expect)

Re: PS5, PS4 Users Are Still the Biggest W*nkers in Gaming
Who on earth is looking up Pikachu porn? I...live a sheltered life.
Re: Soapbox: I Think I'm Over Trophies
I like using them as sign posting to help make sure I've done pretty much everything in a game I love. But they have no intrinsic value whatsoever.

Re: Best PS3 Games
@ShogunRok any plans to do a Playstation (PS1) list? That'd be fun.
Re: Soapbox: Please Don't Let GTA 4 Rot on PS3, Rockstar
Plus any game with walk-in stand up comedy is good in my book.
Re: Soapbox: Please Don't Let GTA 4 Rot on PS3, Rockstar
Bring the shooting controls and wallowing car physics upto at least GTA V standards, clean up the murky lighting and we're onto a winner.
I'd still prefer a Red Dead Redemption remaster in the RDR2 engine (at 60fps) first though.

They've managed to make Uncharted look really boring. Both Sully and Nathan are far too young as well.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?
@jessehill181 you can add PS5 games to the library even if you don't own a PS5, I've done it with several, you can do it via the app for example
Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for October 2021?

Re: Feature: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Season Pass Review - Is It Worth Buying?
Ain't nobody got time for that.
Rule of thumb: never buy a season pass until you've finished the main game.
I just get burned out by most big games and rarely fancy returning.
Re: Poll: Do You Want Even More PS5 Marvel Games from Sony?
Nope, not interested in the slightest. Spider-Man is a fantastically well made game, but the story was instantly forgettable.
Re: Reaction: PlayStation Showcase 2021 Was Good, But Not Good Enough
I can tell the voice acting on Forspoken is going to really annoy me! It just looks like an Infamous game set in the desert.
Re: Horizon Forbidden West Will Now Offer Free PS4 to PS5 Upgrade, Sony Confirms
Any news on why they are still charging £60 for PS4 + PS5, but £70 for PS5 only? Just looks like they're trying to overcharge the unsuspecting.
