Re: Saros, Housemarque's Upcoming PS5 Exclusive, Only Possible Thanks to Sony Acquisition

AverageGamer

He also forgot to mention… That with the acquisition, Housemarque has also painted a target on it back. With everything that’s going on in the world. Studios shouldn’t be publicly announcing how they was able to increase development cost… That the problem with game development now. The acquisition should have been a way to create the same game at the same budget before being acquired.

Re: LEGO to Bring Game Development In-House, New Studio Created

@Orpheus79V "Either way I'm curious/happy to see the studio doing a non Lego game in the future, it's been about 17 years since their last release.

We will probably not see any future games from them cause I'm pretty sure the only reason WB games has keep TT game open for this long was cause their lego games was making money.

Re: Yoshi-P No Longer Sits on Square Enix's Board of Directors

I love how everyone is sitting here complaining about what makes a FF game a FF game, but not even FF it self know what make a FF game… Literally the most popular and best selling FF game ever is one that mostly only still popular cause you can play dress up as a half naked cat girls and go clubbing.

If Square Enix wants to make an open world space opera with third person shooting and call it Final Fantasy 18. They are fully allowed to do it…

@RagnarLothbrok “ PS games had the same thing on steam at first but now sales have cratered there in comparison to how they forst sold”

And at no one else fault but Sony’s own. They burnt that PC bridge. It has nothing about the lack of curiosity. As long as Microsoft don’t burn any bridges with PlayStation players… Their games will continue to sell.

Re: PSVR2 Gets Enormous Price Reduction Starting March 2025

AverageGamer

@HotGoomba Nah. The Quest 3s is the modern PC VR headset steal. It lighter, cheaper, wireless, and offers just about the same functionality as the Quest 3 in standalone. There nothing worth it about buying PSVR2 over a Quest system for…. Plus you still need to buy the adapter so that another $60 which at that point. You may as well had just bought a Quest 3.

Re: Yakuza Creator's Next Game Will Be Sent to Die As NetEase Implodes

@JohntheRaptor You’re close… NetEase original and main business is E-commerce and internet technology services. They’re the largest free email provider in China… Them being this big and involved in gaming only start a year or two pre covid when they invested a ton of money into Bungie. Before that they dealt with licensing Blizzard game in china, and had a couple online games

Re: Ridiculously Successful Marvel Rivals Loses USA Studio to Layoffs

@rjejr Laid off is still the correct term. Fired usually only used when it the employee fault aka own performance issues or misconduct. Being laid off allows employees to retain benefits for a period of time, being fired does not allow that.

Laid off is also at the fault of employers, not employee

“ Lay-offs implies going back to your job when the work picks up again. Think someone selling peanuts at a baseball game or life guards at a beach”

That would actually be more akin to Furlough

Re: PS5 Has Narrowed the Gap on Switch's Indie Game Sales, Says Shu Yoshida

AverageGamer

@Jrs1 I’m guessing a lot of it comes from the fact most people who are heavily into indies don’t care about the graphical or detail aspect of the games… Only the game play aspect. Most of these games look just as good on a 7inch vs 85inch screen. You’re not gaining anything from playing Stardew on a 85inch screen. A steam deck will also play a lot of these games maxed out at full resolution…

Another big reason for the switch, portal, and deck being the best place for indies. Is cause indie games allows for a much easier pick up and play. Most of these games don’t have endless 2-5 minute loading screens, have shorter game loops… etc. You easily play these game while at work on break, at a coffee shop, or on the train, plane, or bus.

A lot of indie games are also very cozy with cozy vibes. Being able to play them curled up in bed underneath a warm blanket with a pet cuddled up next to you is bliss.

Now my personal reason for switch, portal, deck being best suit for indies is due to minimal UI and very little heat those systems put out vs my PC and monitor. Booting up windows and steam to a pain. I live in a small studio apartment, so my 4090 and 1000nit OLED monitor basically becomes a space heater for an apartment that has an ambient temperature of 76 degrees F even in the winter

Re: MultiVersus Director 'in Deep Mourning', Calls Out Player Threats After Shutdown Announcement

@nomither6 The entire company has been doing terrible since early 2010s. The gaming division barely bring in any profit, and we been talking about them selling off the gaming division since 2014... The company has gone through multiple mergers to keep a float since they was nothing but a money pit for AT&T so they was spun off... They are still struggling at they cancel multiple projects for cost saving and Tax write offs. And what they did to Cartoon Network is tragic.

Re: Xbox Boss Wants to Beat PS6 on Hardware Capabilities, Not Necessarily Games

AverageGamer

@get2sammyb “ If they're opening up their platform to, say, Steam then they're creating an environment where their customers may buy the hardware and never give Microsoft another cent.”

Granted, if Xbox’s recent developer connect is anything to go off of. Microsoft will be the only publisher releasing games on a constant basis. Unless you deliberately avoid any game Microsoft publish… You will be missing out on a lot of games. You’re going to give Microsoft money at some point or another.

@wiiware A lot of it has to do with too many people in these companies being buddy buddy, ‘You scratch my back, I’ll scratch your”. Reflector Entertainment CEO worked at Bandai Europe for 10+ before leaving, founding Reflector Entertainment, before returning to be CCO for Bandai Europe and CEO of Reflector Entertainment. There is probably a lot strange inside stuff going on.

@Leonhart Silent Hill is good… But Hellblade 2 is next level, but that cause the selling point of Hellblade 2 is it audio design. You had people questioning their audio setup when it came time to play Hellblade 2

Re: Sony Pictures Seemingly Done with Terrible Spider-Man Spin-Off Flicks

AverageGamer

@Kriandis You mean the character that they keep trying to push to the back seat of their own films, and the one they absolutely trying to replace each film? Had Kingdom of the Crystal worked and Shia didn’t face legal trouble… Mutt would had probably replaced Indiana Jones.

But Indiana Jones also worked cause we first saw Indiana Jones when Ford was 38… and the character aged along side him. Unless they plan to age up Nathan Drake with his daughter involved, an almost 60 year old actor isn’t going to work… especially long term.
