@Oram77 TBH it not surprising that it got over nominated. This award shows love these artsy games, and HellBlade is amazing achievement in terms of art… But because of that it a not a great “game”, and it will end up being something you play once just to experience.
I just hope the studio get the chance to make a 3rd and actually make a game this time.
@GirlVersusGame I'm assuming that Nintendo figures that the camera stuff will be fine since a lot of the camera stuff they show off used AI feature for face tracking, back ground removal... etc So the is probably some kind of AI safe guard in place.
“ But when Sony’s charged $10 for upgrades, it’s offered full-blown remasters.”
So we’re just going to completely ignore that Sony was also doing the same $10 upgrade for next generation games like God of War and GT7.. and other title?
It wasn’t always offered full-blown remasters.
Microsoft is the only who didn’t screw anyone over with Xbox One to Series X
@ChrisDeku A couple patch from perfection doesn’t mean it didn’t have major issues. A game can also have major issues, and not fully impact player score. Spider-Man was still very much a playable game even with flaws. Like all of Sony port even with major flaws… Elden Ring on the other hand was straight up just unplayable for a lot people.
But any PC port basically get DF seal of approval now as long as it doesn’t stutter or use Unreal Engine default settings menu cough FF7 remake cough
@ChrisDeku Spider Man 1 was not great, it had major CPU bottlenecks issues, and major progression related bugs. You clearly wasn’t there playing it on PC on Day 1. Do you even play on PC, or is your only experience with the platform he said, she said?
What Nintendo did need to prove with the Switch 2 is that 3rd party developers will still develop games for their new platforms… and that what this show accomplished.
I thought the show was very good… I never expected many first party titles to show up cause Nintendo is still dropping bangers for the Switch, and will probably continue to do so for a while since there probably still a ton of games in development. They’re not like Sony or Microsoft who needs to over promise on delivering first party cause Nintendo game don’t take 6-8 years to develop… Nintendo has released 72 first party titles on the Switch. I can count all of the PS5 first party titles on my hands.
@ChrisDeku It way more than 3… Horizon Zero Dawn had issues at launch, Spider Man 1 and 2 had issues, Last of US 1 and 2 had issues… Until Dawn also had issues.
@ButterySmooth30FPS I have no clue where they got 5gb… The og had 4gb. No way they only bump the ram by 1Gb. No actually specs list has been released. Also, you can’t compare ram spec of PC devices vs the Switch. Windows alone on handheld devices with eat about 85% of the memory.
Now we're seeing a raise in development from Asia and Korea. Don't be surprise if in the next 10+ year we're talking about Western industry healing, the Japanese struggling, and the new kings are the Asian and Korean studios.
Everything that goes up must come down. The Western gaming industry hit an massive high during the late 360/PS3 gen into the early PS4/Xbox generation... Now they are suffering. It no different than the Japan industry hitting a massive high during the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation than suffering during the PS3/Xbox 360 gen.
@somnambulance Then we’ll have to deal with how every game on the market isn’t like GTA6… By the time that passes, we’re be talking GTA7… the cycle will repeat itself all over again.
@heavyartillery56 “ We are in 2025 not 2010. Steam is where it's at”
That even if people bought the game on steam. A lot people like buying third party keys, and the only option for that is usually Ubisoft connect key. So I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.
@RBMango Because Rare Replay relies on the Xbox back compact… So straight up expect it to stay off PC (unless they figure out 360 back compact) and especially PlayStation
@OldGamer999 “ The game has a lot going on but even on Pro with TAA at 60fps VRR on, there is definitely fizz when panning around on certain foliage and the bamboo and jaggies.”
Even on PC at 4k with DLSS native AA I still see the fizz when panning around foliage and bamboo. PSSR probably isn’t going to help.
@jFug @Frmknst Easier to close studio for probably some type of tax write off. Then open a new studio to get some government incentives... Plus you don't have to worry about ongoing salary bumps due to x amount employees working at x studio for x amount of years. There probably other reasons.
He also forgot to mention… That with the acquisition, Housemarque has also painted a target on it back. With everything that’s going on in the world. Studios shouldn’t be publicly announcing how they was able to increase development cost… That the problem with game development now. The acquisition should have been a way to create the same game at the same budget before being acquired.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner CoD doesn’t exactly scratch the itch that Rainbowsix/division/Any Tom Clancy game provides. CoD is way too arcady and not tactical. Grabbing Ghost Recon and letting the coalition work on it would be cool since Ghost Recon is just another band of brothers game like Gears.
@nhSnork “ variably related medical conditions should one even have to benefit from stuff like this or even maintain awareness thereof without relying on Figital Doundry's spec porn? ”

@Orpheus79V "Either way I'm curious/happy to see the studio doing a non Lego game in the future, it's been about 17 years since their last release.
We will probably not see any future games from them cause I'm pretty sure the only reason WB games has keep TT game open for this long was cause their lego games was making money.
I love how everyone is sitting here complaining about what makes a FF game a FF game, but not even FF it self know what make a FF game… Literally the most popular and best selling FF game ever is one that mostly only still popular cause you can play dress up as a half naked cat girls and go clubbing.

@McBurn It natural life cycle of game studios. Studio get established; studio create massive hit; studio gets acquired; studio gets hit by lay offs, creative talent leaves, or studio closes down; new studio(s) are born. Then the cycle repeats.
@RagnarLothbrok “ PS games had the same thing on steam at first but now sales have cratered there in comparison to how they forst sold”
And at no one else fault but Sony’s own. They burnt that PC bridge. It has nothing about the lack of curiosity. As long as Microsoft don’t burn any bridges with PlayStation players… Their games will continue to sell.
@dskatter "Suicide Squad ended the Arkhamverse beyond saving. So it’ll be interesting to see what happens if they’re allowed to do more damage."
Arkham Shadow came out and is high rated, so no... Suicide Squad did not kill the Arkhamverse. That game Rocksteady helped with, and it lays the ground work for a sequel-prequel
@dskatter Because Rocksteady is still surviving off the legacy they created with the Arkham series… The Arkham universe continues to print WB money be it tie in books, animated movie, or VR titles. Killing off Rocksteady could mean killing off that universe.
@HotGoomba Nah. The Quest 3s is the modern PC VR headset steal. It lighter, cheaper, wireless, and offers just about the same functionality as the Quest 3 in standalone. There nothing worth it about buying PSVR2 over a Quest system for…. Plus you still need to buy the adapter so that another $60 which at that point. You may as well had just bought a Quest 3.
@LogicStrikesAgain No. The Quest 3 does not require a PC. It a standalone device. Facebook is also not required… You really need to update your 3 years out of date information.
@LogicStrikesAgain Granted, the Quest 3 doesn’t require an extra $400 device to use it tho. Plus the Quest 3 is actually getting games and will continue to get games for a longer period due to Meta opening up the OS to third parties manufacturers.
@JohntheRaptor You’re close… NetEase original and main business is E-commerce and internet technology services. @rjejr Laid off is still the correct term. Fired usually only used when it the employee fault aka own performance issues or misconduct. Being laid off allows employees to retain benefits for a period of time, being fired does not allow that.
Laid off is also at the fault of employers, not employee
“ Lay-offs implies going back to your job when the work picks up again. Think someone selling peanuts at a baseball game or life guards at a beach”
@Jrs1 I’m guessing a lot of it comes from the fact most people who are heavily into indies don’t care about the graphical or detail aspect of the games… Only the game play aspect. Most of these games look just as good on a 7inch vs 85inch screen. You’re not gaining anything from playing Stardew on a 85inch screen. A steam deck will also play a lot of these games maxed out at full resolution…
Another big reason for the switch, portal, and deck being the best place for indies. Is cause indie games allows for a much easier pick up and play. Most of these games don’t have endless 2-5 minute loading screens, have shorter game loops… etc. You easily play these game while at work on break, at a coffee shop, or on the train, plane, or bus.
A lot of indie games are also very cozy with cozy vibes. Being able to play them curled up in bed underneath a warm blanket with a pet cuddled up next to you is bliss.
Now my personal reason for switch, portal, deck being best suit for indies is due to minimal UI and very little heat those systems put out vs my PC and monitor. Booting up windows and steam to a pain. I live in a small studio apartment, so my 4090 and 1000nit OLED monitor basically becomes a space heater for an apartment that has an ambient temperature of 76 degrees F even in the winter
@Blauwe_Chimay As much I want them to get the original cast. I think it time for some new blood when it comes to these characters. Especially since video games development takes ages now, and none of the actors are getting any younger.
@Drago201 That a little bit different since by using the music... Royalties have to be paid out to the artist, producers... etc. Sony Music Group isn't just going to eat the cost of that. Unless DC is still paying royalties to the families of the creators. There wouldn't be any charge with an internal studio using the IP.
@AndroidBango WB can't afford to completely shut down a studio. They don't own a lot of studio, so shutting down Rocksteady would basically cripple their gaming division.
