Re: Square Enix Demands Bigger Games, Faster Development as Sales Continue to Slump

@LogicStrikesAgain “ They usually have a spending budget for things like acquisitions, last year it was around 11 billion”

That 11 billion set aside for 3 years, and that wasn’t just for PlayStation… and it probably lower than 11 billion now since they had made several acquisitions and investments since that information was put out. The most recent one is Gaudiy a web3/AI company…

“ history is any indication, the economy will bounce back again.”

And we don’t know when that’ll happen… it could be next month, next year, or 5 years from now. Sony has have very cautious outlook on the situation right now.

@LogicStrikesAgain “ When companies are down financially, it’s absolutely the best time to acquire them, it’s when their market cap is at their lowest.”

That makes sense to do when the economy is healthy and consumers are not struggling for groceries due to the current economy shift. You’re not thinking about how current inflation and trade war could have a negative impact on a company who primary income is currently entertainment. They’re talking about raising prices on products again, and moving production to the US which is not going to be cheap. If thing get worse and consumers have to make cut backs… The first thing to go is entertainment (games, subscriptions services, movies…etc) which is gonna affect Sony bottom line which means lays off, studios closer, selling off IPs… etc So you basically want Sony to take on Square Enix probably massive debt instead of focusing on making sure their own studios are well taken care off. Crazy.

@LogicStrikesAgain Yeah…. No. With the current economy. Throwing money at failing companies is a terrible thing to do. They’re gonna need any extra cash they have on hand to weather any incoming storm especially if things go south. Only companies like Microsoft can afford to really throw money in the fire at this moment. They’ll just lay off 6k and still have a work force twice of Sony, and triple the income.

Re: Sony's New First-Party Studio Working on Lighthearted Team-Based Action Game for PS5

@Tomato_Goose Don’t feel sad for them… If the developers didn’t want to work on live-service games then they wouldn’t have applied… It not like studio was making AAA award winning single player games before this then all a sudden turn to making to live service.

If the developers didn’t like the idea of working on live service then apply to a different studio… No one is forcing anyone to work on these games.

@Godot25 “ Unless they have FH6 this year(which I doubt), which would probably kill sales of FH5, ”

I wouldn’t doubt that… It been long over due for a sequel. We were getting them every other year with Horizon 5 releasing in 2021. Had they kept to their normal schedule. We would be on 7 by now. But it also almost been 2 years since the last Forza game. The franchise is just due a new entry.

Re: PS5 Favourite Astro Bot Earns 5 More Awards, Including GOTY

AverageGamer

@Oram77 TBH it not surprising that it got over nominated. This award shows love these artsy games, and HellBlade is amazing achievement in terms of art… But because of that it a not a great “game”, and it will end up being something you play once just to experience.

I just hope the studio get the chance to make a 3rd and actually make a game this time.

Re: PlayStation Keeps on Fumbling Its PC Ports

@ChrisDeku A couple patch from perfection doesn’t mean it didn’t have major issues. A game can also have major issues, and not fully impact player score. Spider-Man was still very much a playable game even with flaws. Like all of Sony port even with major flaws… Elden Ring on the other hand was straight up just unplayable for a lot people.

But any PC port basically get DF seal of approval now as long as it doesn’t stutter or use Unreal Engine default settings menu cough FF7 remake cough

Re: PlayStation Keeps on Fumbling Its PC Ports

@ChrisDeku Spider Man 1 was not great, it had major CPU bottlenecks issues, and major progression related bugs. You clearly wasn’t there playing it on PC on Day 1. Do you even play on PC, or is your only experience with the platform he said, she said?

Re: Shuhei Yoshida on the Switch 2 Direct: 'Underwhelming Until FromSoftware Showed Up'

AverageGamer

I thought the show was very good… I never expected many first party titles to show up cause Nintendo is still dropping bangers for the Switch, and will probably continue to do so for a while since there probably still a ton of games in development. They’re not like Sony or Microsoft who needs to over promise on delivering first party cause Nintendo game don’t take 6-8 years to develop… Nintendo has released 72 first party titles on the Switch. I can count all of the PS5 first party titles on my hands.

Re: PS5 vs Switch 2: Full Tech Specs Comparison

@ButterySmooth30FPS I have no clue where they got 5gb… The og had 4gb. No way they only bump the ram by 1Gb. No actually specs list has been released. Also, you can’t compare ram spec of PC devices vs the Switch. Windows alone on handheld devices with eat about 85% of the memory.
