Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Game Awards 2025?

Too long. I wasn't really impressed with most stuff but Control Resonant was a cool announcement. Also, E33 sweep the whole damn thing, which made me dislike the game a bit more, but I'm still inclined to go back and try the free stuff they released today

The local timezone that you use here is so helpful. Geoff Keighley thinks the whole damn world lives in North America and i just hate converting timezones, especially now that we don't use daylight savings anymore

Got the game first on PC, back in April 2021, when i used to play a lot on PC. Bought the game again in 2022 for my Xbox One, back in March, i think. Got the game AGAIN last year, around March, on my PS5, with the DLC too. This was the first time i finished the game

I love the atmosphere of this game and playing it with Dualsense + 3D Audio is just an unforgettable experience. A solid 9/10 for me

I get so frustrated with this game's combat in higher difficulty modes but i always come back to it (2018) no matter what. There's something about it that just tickles my brain in the right way: the presentation, level design, story, sound design, puzzles, exploration, graphics, menu, combat (even when I'm pissed at the game because of it)...this game is pretty much my autistic repetitive behavior firing at all cylinders

Re: 'It's a Huge Upgrade': PS5 Pro Poised to Improve Massively in 2026

@graymamba i know that this is a possible reality, but i still think the cost of a new console for me, even if it's more expensive than it's expected, will be the best option for me. In Brazil PCs are quite expensive and PS5 Pro here is still very expensive to the point it's not worth the cost since i already own a base PS5. I'm more than inclined to spend a bit more on a new hardware than i would in a Pro, however.

I'm also planning on getting a PS6 at the end of 2028 (i learned with past experiences not to buy new hardware right after launch), so i think by then this whole situation with RAM shortage might be resolved, but even if it isn't, I'll still get a PS6. I might only change my stance if by some miracle gaming notebooks become more affordable in Brazil and if Sony keeps putting their games on PC with no sign of stopping

All i know is that I'm for the first time really excited about Sony's next console just because i know that this time I'll be able to afford one in less than 4 years after its launch, a first in my life

Re: 'It's a Huge Upgrade': PS5 Pro Poised to Improve Massively in 2026

To this day i never really felt "damn, i should've bought a Pro because X, Y and Z games are so much better in it" and that's great for me, i don't regret skipping the PS5 Pro. I actually think PS4 Pro was a more compelling upgrade than this console and now we're approaching the end of this generation, so i think it's too late to invest in a Pro, even if i wanted to (which i don't)

I'll start saving money at the beginning of next year so i can buy a PS6 in 2028. Any games that didn't run decently on my base PS5 will run much better on PS6 than a PS5 Pro, with a better implementation of PSSR, i see this as a huge win for me.

Re: 60+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's End of Year Deals Sale

I was almost getting Doom The Dark Ages but then i saw the performance and i instantly gave up. The game has some really annoying framerate drops (lower 50s and sometimes high 40s) in very open areas on base PS5 and i can't believe that even Pro can't beat Xbox Series X in performance. I can stomach horrendous performance in games like Space Marine 2 because that game doesn't really demand quick reflexes, but Doom does and id software dropped the ball here

Might as well wait for a PS6 to get this game

Re: Poll: Five Years of PS5 - How Would You Rate Sony's Console?

themaladroit

My favorite Playstation console of all Playstation i owned and the reason is that the hardware is really good. Most games still run very well on my base PS5 and the backward compatibility is amazing. The Dualsense controller is realy good. I'm not lying when i say that i buy games nowadays if they support both haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Playing Cyberpunk 2077 with 3D audio + adaptive trigger + haptic feedback is one of the most fun and immersive experience i ever had in my entire gaming experience. Hearing the rain falling while running around with my horse in Ghost of Tsushima, jumping from my chair when Aloy screamed when i was fighting in Horizon Zero Dawn or feel tense as ***** while playing Silent Hill 2 Remake while listening to all the disturbing things the game has...PS5 definitely elevated my experience as a gamer and i love every minute of it

Having said all that, there are issues with the platform or system of PS5. Not a lot of 1st party games that made me think "yeah, this is a must have game" aside from Returnal, Demon's Souls Remake and Astro Bot (haven't played Yotei yet); really expensive games in Brazil (that's something I'll never shut up about); PS Store is a deposit of asset flip garbage "games" which makes find actual decent games a chore...
I love the Dualsense but the drift issue is something that still haunts players to this day (me included) and this is the most annoying console in terms of cleaning. I never even cleaned my PS4 internally, now i need to open my PS5 every month to clean the dust and this is annoying as all hell

Overall, technically I'd say PS5 is the best Playstation console i ever owned, but PS4 and PS3 are still kings when it comes to 1st party games and even backward compatibility support (where's Digital Devil Saga and God Hand, Sony? They'll get stuck on PS3 forever?)

Re: Sony Estimated to Have Made $1.5 Billion from Steam, But the Novelty Is Wearing Off

@Pequod gaming is becoming such an expensive hobby for me. I love gaming, I've been playing games since i was 4, dare i say gaming is my hyperfocus, always has been. I hate to be in this situation where i gotta look at my financial situation very carefully before deciding where will i play videogames because i really like consoles, but think you're right, i might go PC next gen if the situation doesn't change that much. I'll wait and see. If Playstation Brazil change their stance and actually use regional pricing like Xbox, Steam, Epic Store and Nintendo do, then I'll gladly reconsider my choice (doubt they will do that, though)

Re: Sony Estimated to Have Made $1.5 Billion from Steam, But the Novelty Is Wearing Off

themaladroit

@Pequod something that i still don't understand is Sony saying that losing some console users is ok because the extra revenue from porting makes up for this loss. If someone leaves the PS ecosystem and moves towards PC, every single 3rd party game they buy there will not generate any profit to Sony, any cosmetics from Fortnite, Warzone or Apex bought by this person on PC will not generate any profit to Sony, they'll lose PS Plus subscriptions and even their 1st party games won't be as profitable as they could be if the person was buying the game on a PlayStation (and that if they don't pirate the game)

I'm not an expert in financials nor I'm well informed about Sony's profits, revenue and etc but to me that doesn't sound a really positive scenario in the long run

I'm from Brazil and here almost every digital game from PS Store had a recent price raise, but even before that, almost every game on PS5 and PS4 were more expensive than their Xbox or Switch version, now they're more expensive than before especially because games on Xbox and Switch didn't suffer any price raise recently. Games like Ghost of Yotei, Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2, and Silent Hill F are costing 400 reais (our currency in Brazil) here, which is 75 US dollars today. This price is almost a third of a minimum wage here in Brazil, which is insane

On PC these games are way more affordable, so i can't see why most people in Brazil wouldn't move towards PC: It's free to play online, most PS5 games are being ported to PC and you can also play every Xbox game available. Microsoft now is getting ready to release a machine that will play Playstation 1st party games in it (at least the ones who were ported to Steam and Epic Store) + Xbox games + PC games with a hardware that is expensive but that will probably be more powerful than the next PS6. Switch 2 is selling like water and Microsoft now owns so many studios that they're pretty much a big publisher with a lot of highly successful IPs under their wings.

Sony is doing fine for now, but I'm not sure how things will pan out for them in the long run (aka the next gen). Now that everyone is aware that most Playstation games are coming to PC, and if people don't care about spending more upfront to get a PC, they'll leave Playstation and probably never come back. I owned every Playstation console until now and I'm constantly going back and forth about going full PC, i almost did in this gen. The prices of these games on Playstation are killing my wallet and physical media here in Brazil a lot of times are as expensive (if not more so) than digital

Re: Space Marine 2's Super Support Continues as Huge Patch 11 Drops on PS5

@MasterChiefWiggum no, this game is not Soulslike at all, not even close. Also, parries are easy to pull because the timing window to react is quite generous, way more than any other game that exists and I'm glad this game isn't anything like Gears. Even though i love Gears, that game's formula got stale really fast. I really enjoyed this game, way more than i thought i would
