Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony

themaladroit

@Oram77 that doesn't mean that there might be deals with Sony and the studio responsible for making each of these games that we don't know anything about. With Bloodborne might be one kind of deal, with Demon's Souls might another one entirely, and so on and so forth. So, again, there's no guarantee about what exactly happened unless someone from Arrowhead confirms that. I won't change my mind on that unless someone from the dev team says what's going on. You can think whatever you want, though, I'm not trying to convince you of anything, i appreciate you could do the same. Thanks

Re: Brazilian Gamers Infuriated by Sudden PS5 Price Hikes

themaladroit

Capitalism, right? As a Brazilian, all I'll say is, I'll not but any of these games unless they're cheaper than 200 reais from now on and if Sony keeps doing this then I'll skip the PS6 and get a PC, since they put their games on PC 100 reais cheaper than on console (or for free, if you know what i mean). They're going for the most positive and profitable route, right? Only fair that we, Brazilians users do the same thing too

I've been playing on Playstation since 2003, but I'm not loyal to a brand, at all

Re: PS5's AI Slop Shovelware Has Hit a New Low

themaladroit

This isn't even the worst kind of asset flip AI garbage game. The worst ones are the scams that try to copy famous indie games that aren't on Playstation yet, such as REPO or Mouthwashing. I've warned some of these devs in the past about this and they reported the game and they were taken down eventually. Sony is getting lazier and lazier

Re: PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 Themes on PS5 Will Leave Tomorrow, But Sony Is Working to Bring Them Back

themaladroit

Wow, what a surprise, actually two:

This is the first time since September (the month Astro Bot was released) that i, as a base PS5 owner, feel remembered (even though this feature should not even be removed in the first place, and what i really wanted was the logo and sound that appears when you boot the console...)

Something that has nothing to do with PC

Yeah, the bar is very low at this point

Re: Game of the Year: #10 - Persona 3 Reload

themaladroit

The game was made in Unreal Engine 4, not 5. Native 4K with Ray Tracing at a quite stable 60fps on PS5 is a huge technical feat. Don't know why Metaphor Refantazio doesn't use this engine instead of that outdated thing that was used back in Persona 5...ugh

Re: More Than 6,000 PS5, PS4 Games Discounted in Monstrous PS Store Sale

themaladroit

I was waiting for Persona 3 Reload, but nope...the standard edition isn't on sale. Very disappointing sales for me. Best deal for me are the Timesplitters games. Hell, Robocop is actually more expensive now than it was on the last sale in Brazil lol
At least I'll be saving some good money this time around, as I'll probably buy only 2 Timesplitters games and that's it.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws Patches in PS5 Pro PSSR Toggle, Lets You Turn It Off

themaladroit

Yep, I'm glad i skipped this console. Its cost and performance/image quality improvements isn't enough to convince me to spend 7K + 800 bucks (for the detachable disc drive) to get one. I just hope that by the time PS6 comes out in 3 years, that it can do PSSR better <<<in every game>>> (and it'll probably will) so i can play PS5 games via BC, just like I'm doing with PS4 games, with better image quality and stable performance without the need to rely on a TV with VRR

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 Announced as CDPR Promises New Features on Fourth Anniversary

themaladroit

Nice! Finally a game update that has nothing to do with the Pro and that might actually add something interesting for me and everyone else. Just don't break the game with this update, CDPR...please, I'm actually in a middle of a playthrough right now and I'm just loving the 3D audio implementation of this game on the PS5. The best 3D audio (alongside Returnal) I've heard so far

Re: Your 2024 PlayStation Wrap-Up Will Be Available Starting Next Week

themaladroit

Last year, my time spending playing on my PS4 was shameful. I think i only played a few hours of God of War Ragnarok and that's it. I was playing too much on PC. This year it's the opposite (thankfully). I'm pretty sure the game i played the most was Elden Ring on my PS5, since i decided to start a whole new save just to play the DLC. My total time with that game today is +450h. And after that, is probably Rebirth and then either Risk of Rain 2 or Banishers

Re: PS5 Pro Has a Remarkable Impact on Unpatched Games

themaladroit

@LowDefAl yeah, i know what you mean. On PC you can still rely on DLSS or lower resolution and/or other settings to make things run better. I would definitely play something like Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition at 1080p instead of higher resolutions, for example. Now the Pro can run the game decently, but i can't because Capcom doesn't allow me to change resolution (and this version isn't available on PC)

And yes, in Brazil games and consoles are really expensive. I just hope that PS6 won't be as expensive as the Pro. I prefer console over PC, but if they keep doing this I'll have no choice but to get a PC and that's quite unfortunate, since i own +300 games on my PS4 and PS5, digital and physical and i would love to keep playing these games on PS6.

Re: PS5 Pro Has a Remarkable Impact on Unpatched Games

themaladroit

Watching the whole Black Myth Wukong video i get the impression that the framerate drops as much as the base console against bosses in the forest area. The tutorial area is the only place where there's a gap between both versions. They'll need to patch this game with PSSR and remove frame gen, but if the game fails to reach 60fps with PSSR then it's not gonna help a lot

Also, I've watched DF's video and the fact that Alan Wake 2 at this moment runs sometimes a little better in performance mode on base PS5 than on Pro (according to Oliver and footage shown proves that) it's crazy. I'm disappointed that FFXVI still can't reach 60fps on any console too, only on PC. Baldur's Gate 3 performance was pretty much unchanged from base PS5 because of how CPU heavy that game is. This means that any future CPU bound game will make this console struggle.

I was expecting a locked 60fps in all existing games, patched or not (especially not patched, because the console would brute force performance), and future games as well. Games will become more demanding as time goes on, but i can always rely on 30fps when using my PS5, i know the limitations of my console. PS5 Pro should not need that, but I'm not sure if the console will keep up with more demanding games in the future, unless they rely a lot on frame gen technology, if PSSR fails to mantain a stable 60fps. The fact is, for 7K reais (a little over 1K dollars in USA...yes this thing is VERY expensive in Brazil), this upgrade is not worth for me. A PS6 (if isn't that expensive) is the better choice for me, or maybe a PC, who knows.

This is probably the last time I'll talk about the Pro. Obviously, this is MY opinion, I'm not here to argue if someone wants a Pro. I'm just stating my opinion. If you want one, more power to ya, but I'll be skipping this one, just like i did with PS4 Pro.

Re: PS5 Pro vs PS5: Full Tech Specs Comparison

themaladroit

Some people already got their hands on the Pro and they're already posting performance videos on YouTube (with framerate and frametime counter, just like Digital Foundry). Alan Wake 2 (which already got the Pro patch on October 22nd) can't hit a locked 60fps at a internal resolution of 864p (vs the 847p of the base console) when playing as Saga Anderson in Cauldron Lake (the same spot the base PS5 struggled to hit 60fps) and Elden Ring doesn't run at a locked 60fps too, even on Limgrave, so i presume Liurnia of the Lake and the whole DLC area will be worse

Re: Love Classic Lara Croft? Play the Crap Tomb Raider Trilogy on PS5, PS4

themaladroit

Great news. Horrible way of announcing these games, since this is supposed to be news articles, not a review. Not the first time I've seen this around here and it's always the same person.

Anyway, I'm glad that IV and Chronicles are getting the same remastered treatment. Chronicles was one of my favorite games alongside 1 and 2 when i was a kid. Never played AoD, this is going to be the first time playing it.

Re: Until Dawn Is One of Sony's Worst Performing PC Ports to Date

themaladroit

I almost forgot that Sony still release games on PS5, then i remembered that they put out Astro Bot this year and soon they'll release... Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (also on PC, of course)

Anyway, i really like playing on my PS5 but what's keeping me on the system is the 3rd party support, BC (which is very good) and just because i prefer consoles over PC since they're easier to plug and play (and PC ports can either be OK or a total garbage that the community has to fix with mods, it's 50/50 chance with every new game release). Having said that, if the PS6 is as expensive as a PS5 Pro here in Brazil (7k reais isn't small amount of money) then I'll go back to PC and never look back. A decent notebook is costing as much as a PS5 Pro here and I'm sure this will not change when the PS6 is out.

Sony is pretty much saying to players "you don't have to buy our consoles anymore, just wait a while and play all of our recently released PS games on PC but cheaper!" so why would i keep buying consoles? No need to.

To be honest it's hard for me to see Sony still releasing consoles in the long run if:

  • They keep spending millions of dollars on ***** like Concord or that other online game that will come out soon (can't remember the name)
  • They can't make people see valid reasons to get a PlayStation instead of a PC or Xbox or even a Nintendo Switch. Speaking of which...

Nintendo probably spends like 1/3 of Sony's budget in their own games since they don't have a very powerful hardware so they don't have to release PC ports to recoup the costs of whatever they spent developing any game and yet they release some stuff on mobile to earn extra money just because they can, while keeping their games exclusives to their consoles. Also they can actually make people see value in their games, to the point where they can even overprice their stuff and people will still buy them and they can only buy them in one place and in one console because exclusivity.

I love playing on consoles but gaming is getting more and more expensive to the point where i can't make a choice based on my preferences, i need to choose what's more affordable to me and in the long run PC is better

Also Sony better not try to create a launcher on PC because no one will buy anything there. Steam reigns supreme to the point where they can do whatever they want and users won't raise a finger at them. Just accept that 30% of your profit on every sale will go to Gabe Newell and Valve and that you'll lose some sales to piracy especially now with the whole PSN login stuff since you don't want to use DRM

Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video

themaladroit

To be honest, a PS4 game that already runs very well on PS5 isn't going to change my mind and make wanna buy a Pro. We're talking about a console that is costing 7K in my country (not including the detachable disc drive). Thing is, most games that are already out will run decently on PS5 Pro (at least they should, in theory). If i were to buy a PS5 Pro, my only interest would be in games that are going to be released in the future, like in 1 or 2 years from now. By 2026, PS5 Pro's CPU will be 6 years old and I'm curious to see if the 10% boost in clock speed will help CPU bound games to run at a stable 60fps, because i presume this console was made to run all future games at a stable 60fps, with resolutions equal or higher than PS5 in Quality Mode, at least until the PS6 is out (in 2027 or 2028), if not, then there's no reason for me to switch over to a Pro.

Now, if a game like Elden Ring or Dragon's Dogma 2 can't hit 60fps in Quality Mode consistently on the Pro (both games are quite demanding on the CPU), i won't be too optimistic about future games that will definitely be heavier on CPU and GPU.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. GTA VI and Crimson Desert are coming next year and both of these games seem very demanding, and since both are open world, they're definitely CPU bound.

I'd like to make it clear that this is only (((my opinion))). I'm aware of people complaining about some users that are criticizing or being skeptical about the Pro...well, if i got one for free, you can bet i wouldn't be saying any of this, but these machines cost a lot of money and i live in a 3rd world country, so it's not that easy to buy things like that. The higher the cost, the more skeptical I'll be because i care about my money lol
