Re: PS5 Pro Has a Remarkable Impact on Unpatched Games

themaladroit

Watching the whole Black Myth Wukong video i get the impression that the framerate drops as much as the base console against bosses in the forest area. The tutorial area is the only place where there's a gap between both versions. They'll need to patch this game with PSSR and remove frame gen, but if the game fails to reach 60fps with PSSR then it's not gonna help a lot

Also, I've watched DF's video and the fact that Alan Wake 2 at this moment runs sometimes a little better in performance mode on base PS5 than on Pro (according to Oliver and footage shown proves that) it's crazy. I'm disappointed that FFXVI still can't reach 60fps on any console too, only on PC. Baldur's Gate 3 performance was pretty much unchanged from base PS5 because of how CPU heavy that game is. This means that any future CPU bound game will make this console struggle.

I was expecting a locked 60fps in all existing games, patched or not (especially not patched, because the console would brute force performance), and future games as well. Games will become more demanding as time goes on, but i can always rely on 30fps when using my PS5, i know the limitations of my console. PS5 Pro should not need that, but I'm not sure if the console will keep up with more demanding games in the future, unless they rely a lot on frame gen technology, if PSSR fails to mantain a stable 60fps. The fact is, for 7K reais (a little over 1K dollars in USA...yes this thing is VERY expensive in Brazil), this upgrade is not worth for me. A PS6 (if isn't that expensive) is the better choice for me, or maybe a PC, who knows.

This is probably the last time I'll talk about the Pro. Obviously, this is MY opinion, I'm not here to argue if someone wants a Pro. I'm just stating my opinion. If you want one, more power to ya, but I'll be skipping this one, just like i did with PS4 Pro.

Re: PS5 Pro vs PS5: Full Tech Specs Comparison

themaladroit

Some people already got their hands on the Pro and they're already posting performance videos on YouTube (with framerate and frametime counter, just like Digital Foundry). Alan Wake 2 (which already got the Pro patch on October 22nd) can't hit a locked 60fps at a internal resolution of 864p (vs the 847p of the base console) when playing as Saga Anderson in Cauldron Lake (the same spot the base PS5 struggled to hit 60fps) and Elden Ring doesn't run at a locked 60fps too, even on Limgrave, so i presume Liurnia of the Lake and the whole DLC area will be worse

Re: Love Classic Lara Croft? Play the Crap Tomb Raider Trilogy on PS5, PS4

themaladroit

Great news. Horrible way of announcing these games, since this is supposed to be news articles, not a review. Not the first time I've seen this around here and it's always the same person.

Anyway, I'm glad that IV and Chronicles are getting the same remastered treatment. Chronicles was one of my favorite games alongside 1 and 2 when i was a kid. Never played AoD, this is going to be the first time playing it.

Re: Until Dawn Is One of Sony's Worst Performing PC Ports to Date

themaladroit

I almost forgot that Sony still release games on PS5, then i remembered that they put out Astro Bot this year and soon they'll release... Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered (also on PC, of course)

Anyway, i really like playing on my PS5 but what's keeping me on the system is the 3rd party support, BC (which is very good) and just because i prefer consoles over PC since they're easier to plug and play (and PC ports can either be OK or a total garbage that the community has to fix with mods, it's 50/50 chance with every new game release). Having said that, if the PS6 is as expensive as a PS5 Pro here in Brazil (7k reais isn't small amount of money) then I'll go back to PC and never look back. A decent notebook is costing as much as a PS5 Pro here and I'm sure this will not change when the PS6 is out.

Sony is pretty much saying to players "you don't have to buy our consoles anymore, just wait a while and play all of our recently released PS games on PC but cheaper!" so why would i keep buying consoles? No need to.

To be honest it's hard for me to see Sony still releasing consoles in the long run if:

  • They keep spending millions of dollars on ***** like Concord or that other online game that will come out soon (can't remember the name)
  • They can't make people see valid reasons to get a PlayStation instead of a PC or Xbox or even a Nintendo Switch. Speaking of which...

Nintendo probably spends like 1/3 of Sony's budget in their own games since they don't have a very powerful hardware so they don't have to release PC ports to recoup the costs of whatever they spent developing any game and yet they release some stuff on mobile to earn extra money just because they can, while keeping their games exclusives to their consoles. Also they can actually make people see value in their games, to the point where they can even overprice their stuff and people will still buy them and they can only buy them in one place and in one console because exclusivity.

I love playing on consoles but gaming is getting more and more expensive to the point where i can't make a choice based on my preferences, i need to choose what's more affordable to me and in the long run PC is better

Also Sony better not try to create a launcher on PC because no one will buy anything there. Steam reigns supreme to the point where they can do whatever they want and users won't raise a finger at them. Just accept that 30% of your profit on every sale will go to Gabe Newell and Valve and that you'll lose some sales to piracy especially now with the whole PSN login stuff since you don't want to use DRM

Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video

themaladroit

To be honest, a PS4 game that already runs very well on PS5 isn't going to change my mind and make wanna buy a Pro. We're talking about a console that is costing 7K in my country (not including the detachable disc drive). Thing is, most games that are already out will run decently on PS5 Pro (at least they should, in theory). If i were to buy a PS5 Pro, my only interest would be in games that are going to be released in the future, like in 1 or 2 years from now. By 2026, PS5 Pro's CPU will be 6 years old and I'm curious to see if the 10% boost in clock speed will help CPU bound games to run at a stable 60fps, because i presume this console was made to run all future games at a stable 60fps, with resolutions equal or higher than PS5 in Quality Mode, at least until the PS6 is out (in 2027 or 2028), if not, then there's no reason for me to switch over to a Pro.

Now, if a game like Elden Ring or Dragon's Dogma 2 can't hit 60fps in Quality Mode consistently on the Pro (both games are quite demanding on the CPU), i won't be too optimistic about future games that will definitely be heavier on CPU and GPU.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. GTA VI and Crimson Desert are coming next year and both of these games seem very demanding, and since both are open world, they're definitely CPU bound.

I'd like to make it clear that this is only (((my opinion))). I'm aware of people complaining about some users that are criticizing or being skeptical about the Pro...well, if i got one for free, you can bet i wouldn't be saying any of this, but these machines cost a lot of money and i live in a 3rd world country, so it's not that easy to buy things like that. The higher the cost, the more skeptical I'll be because i care about my money lol

Re: PS5 Fans Want to Protest Against New User Interface Advertising

themaladroit

I'm more pissed about those scam "games" that are appearing on PS Store more frequently now, with clear attempts from these people (i can't call them devs) to trick users into believing that these "games" are the original one, like Lethal Company, Supermarket Simulator, Phasmophobia and etc and people are actually being fooled by them and buying this *****

Hell, I've warned the devs from Empire of the Ants (Microids) on Reddit that their game was been ripped off by these scammers and they said they were going to contact Sony. The scammers were using another name for their "game" (Empire: Ant Kingdom) with the release date of 2025 or 2026. They do this with multiple "games" so that their scam games can be placed ahead of legitimate games made by real developers. A lot of people on reddit already made posts about this but this is getting out of hand. You can clearly spot the Chatgpt text describing these scam games and most of them don't even have images or videos.

This is so bad that it got to a point where even i can't tell if X game is a real game or one of those fake ones because i don't know every game out there

This is something that the community should complain about. Sony should improve their verification process to avoid this kind of crap. I know that shovelware games is a thing on PS Store since forever, but this is happening way more frequently now and i don't see these new stuff as shovelware, they're being presented in a way that they're clearly trying to trick users into believing that their game is the original one or in some cases, they're actually trying to sell the idea of a game that isn't real. They're manipulating PS Store algorithm to place their game in front of the other ones to get people's attention.

I even found a "placeholder game" on PS Store these days, which is crazy. Just search for "Special Mission" on PS Store and you'll see what I'm talking about. And you can search for "Simulator" on PS Store and then watch 1566456677 "games" showing up, half of them being some kind of Supermarket Simulator

Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?

themaladroit

No and i won't get one. Ask this question to people in Brazil, where this console is costing a staggering 7K right now lol this is just the console without the detachable disc drive, that is costing 600 bucks (probably more now)
By far one of the most expensive consoles I've ever seen in Brazil

If anything, most people here will probably start buying PS4s (the ones that are left) or even build PCs (although they'll probably be weaker than a base PS5). Besides, the Pro already has a 2020 CPU with only 10% boost. I'm not sure that this will be enough to carry this console until 2027, especially in CPU bound games. Obviously we'll see improvements in performance with recent games, but i believe that in 2 years performance won't be as good as now

My next console will be a PS6 and that's it

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS4's Price Doubles After PS5 Remaster Announcement

themaladroit

@Titntin my logic is that when someone reads a comment that is tagging another user, they probably read the whole interaction before saying anything, so that's why i said what i said and that's why i said i wasn't hating on them too, and now you're aware of that .

Thing is, in Brazil gaming is a very expensive hobby. Today we found out that the PS5 Pro here will cost 7.000 reais, that's almost 7x the minimum wager here. That's a lot of money, like...A LOT. A detachable disc drive is costing around 600 reais. A brand new AAA game costs 350 reais. When i criticize them or any gaming company, i do so with these things in mind. I love my PS5, way more than i expected, but I'm definitely not fond of some stuff Sony is doing.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying your point of view

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS4's Price Doubles After PS5 Remaster Announcement

themaladroit

@Titntin you replied to the only person that had replied to me, and you said to them "No point talking sense mate people here to hate and they aint gonna get off that train anytime soon." assuming that my criticism was me hating on them, even though i wasn't, if you were talking about anyone else (or everyone in general) then you wouldn't have replied to him specifically. I know i don't have to explain anything to you, because I'm allowed to say whatever i think about this situation, but what i don't appreciate is people misinterpreting what I'm saying (gonna give the benefit of the doubt here).

You have your opinion, and i have mine. You can disagree with me, just don't assume what my intentions are if you don't know them. If i was "hating on them" i wouldn't even have a PlayStation in my house. And the fact that some people are being more harsh towards Sony's decision shouldn't affect other Playstation users at all, it's not as if anyone here works at Sony (at least as far as i know). Some won't care about this whole situation, some will criticize, some will criticize more, that's how things are.

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS4's Price Doubles After PS5 Remaster Announcement

themaladroit

@Titntin I'm not hating them, I'm criticizing them. I'm a PlayStation fan when i have to, now I'm being a customer criticizing what i think it's not right, in my opinion. I don't have to like everything they do

@PsBoxSwitchOwner well, you'd still be spending money on the PS4 version anyway and also paying the upgrade, and this is a 1st party game, so they're getting all the profit. They just want more money here. At least they're letting people that got this game for free to upgrade (not my case, i bought the game full price back in 2018)

@Intr1n5ic that's also a very good point

Re: Horizon Zero Dawn PS4's Price Doubles After PS5 Remaster Announcement

themaladroit

"Increasing the price like this, especially after almost six years, seems a little harsh." A little? Let's be honest here, game prices are supposed to go down as time goes by, not the other way around. Sony is being greedy here.

I hate when stuff like this happens. It reminds me of Steam and their "regional pricing" thing, that made 5 year old games get a significant price bump here in Brazil. That's when i started buying most PC games on Epic Games (at least the ones that aren't Steam exclusive)

Re: PS5 Pro Flexes Its Muscle in Montage Trailer

themaladroit

It's crazy how i went from "i might upgrade my console to this" to "why would i sell my PS5 with disc drive to buy a console without one, which will cost me an additional 600 bucks (i live in Brazil, baby!) + the amount remaining to complete the full price of the Pro (which we still don't know how much will it be in Brazil, but we guess something around 5.500-6.000 bucks which is A LOT)"

I reached a point where i really need to ask myself if the money I'll spend on these things are worth the effort, and to me, personally, it isn't. Same goes for unnecessary Remasters.

Re: Sequel, DLC Already Planned for Smash-Hit Space Marine 2

themaladroit

Can i play the PvE missions (not the campaign) on my own? I don't have anyone to play with me and if I'm getting this game, i want to do everything it has to offer because damn, this one is very expensive here in Brazil. 350 reais is a lot here and i don't plan on subscribe to PS Plus, but if the game is fun and can be played mostly solo, then I'll definitely think about getting it in the future

Re: Don't Nod 'Disappointed' by Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Jusant Sales

themaladroit

I'm actually playing Banishers right now, and I'm over 60h already. I'm really enjoying my time with it. The main characters are very likeable and their relationship really solid. The haunting cases are very interesting, they're all quite different from one another, even if some of them are predictable. I like solving these cases and getting to decide at the end of each one of them if i banish or ascend the ghosts (or do worse with the living). I also like that some of these cases actually connects with the main story, and i like how every now and them (based on a choice that i made) the game points its finger at me to remind me how sh*tty i am

The exploration is pretty much God of Warlite (2018) and the combat is OK, even though it can be quite frustrating at times when you're facing tougher foes. Voice acting is top notch. Most dialogues are really well written. Performance is kinda mid, but this is one of those Unreal Engine 5 games (aka the most unstable engine ever) so i can get past the framerate drops

If the last part of the game is as good as the rest of it and if the story ends on a high note, then this can be easily a 9/10 for me and my personal GOTY contender

It's funny how i hated Life is Strange so much to the point that i consider it top 5 worst games i ever played, and yet Vampyr and this game here, especially, are very very very good

Too bad it didn't sell so well. People need to know about this game more

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?

themaladroit

@Odium thank you for the reply! Yes, I'm usually OK with less than stellar performance. This game isn't that fast, so I'm OK with some framerate drops

@Romans12 yes, Xbox Series X is more powerful than PS5, though the gap between the two isn't that big like it was in the last gen. However, the Xbox doesn't always perform better than PS5, something that DF videos have been showing every now and then. That's why i usually watch DF videos to know more about these games (not that it'll make a big difference for me since i only own a PS5 and i don't plan on buying a Xbox or even a Pro)

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?

themaladroit

@springer17 yeah, i think i could play this one in Quality Mode, since its gameplay is more focused on taking hordes of enemies rather than fast paced combat like Doom Eternal or something. I usually prefer performance, but this is the kind of game where i can see myself trying the other game mode

@Barry_vV yeah, i watched the video there and i was wondering if there were any improvements in performance by now. Doesn't seem to be the case. It's weird since Xbox Series X runs this game a bit better and it and PS5 aren't that different from one another, in terms of hardware power. But i hope they can improve performance, even if it's just a bit

Re: New PS5 Firmware Update Aims to Fix Final Fantasy 16 Issues, Available to Download Now

themaladroit

I tested FF16 for a few hours yesterday and Wednesday and didn't experience any visual glitches or crashes. In fact, i didn't experience any crashes or bugs in any of my games at all and I've been playing on PS5 every day since the update for 4-5h

I don't know if that's because I'm from Brazil and we didn't get some of the features that north americans are getting now in the latest firmware (Welcome Hub, for example) or if it's something else. Anyway, good to know that this issues has been sorted out

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Hugely Improved' on PS5 Pro, a 'Night and Day' Difference

themaladroit

As someone who played +60h of this game in Performance Mode on my simple 2012 1080p TV, i can already tell this console isn't for me. Selling my PS5 (non-digital version), to buy a Pro + a detachable disc drive (that costs 550 reais) + a stand (that costs around 50 reais) in Brazil is a complete nightmare that i won't ever want to go through. And we still don't know how much this thing will cost here (the non-digital base PS5 is costing around 3.500 reais, which is A LOT already)

Might as well save some money to either upgrade my PC or get a PS6 in 3 years

Re: Cult PS2 Genre Blender Killer7 Could Be Resurrected for PS5, PS4

themaladroit

Well, there's the PC port already. Just port that version to PS5. I really wish companies would stop releasing games only on PC, especially ones like this or No More Heroes 1 and 2. These games were made for consoles in the first place, so they need to release these remasters on consoles sooner rather than later. I'm tired of keeping my Wii version of NMH2 and the PS3 version of NMH around, I'd rather have all these games on one PlayStation console. And yes, i do own Killer7 on PC, but i really want this game on a console

Re: Doubt Cast Over PS5 Pro Actually Releasing This Year

themaladroit

@WaveBoy i thought about all of this already, and the thing is... everything is very complex, at least for me. I wished the PS5 would last until 2028, but we're still not sure if a PS6 will only come out at the end of 2028 or if PS5 will have Sony's support (like releasing 1st party exclusives) until 2028 but the PS6 will actually come out in 2027, for example. Most console generations last for 7 years, so the latter would make more sense to me.

Thing is, i live in Brazil. Consoles here are more expensive than NA or EU, even after converting dollars or euros to reais. Making an upgrade like that isn't something that most of us here take lightly. I also still trying to figure out how long PS5 will last so i can figure out what to do. PS4 is still going strong, but COVID affected chipset manufacturing, which affected PS5 production, making the console a little bit difficult to find until the end of 2022, i think. I'm not sure but i also think PS5 isn't that much cheaper now (because chips are still expensive) so most people are still on their PS4s and devs are aware of that and still releasing a bunch of games on PS4. There's also the whole free to play online stuff, that makes most people keep their PS4s. If a lot of people jump into the PS5 to the point where Sony doesn't feel the need to push a PS6 earlier, then they'll probably hold on to the PS5/PS5 Pro a lot longer, however if this console isn't as successful as PS4 then they will try to bring PS6 as soon as possible.

This generation is quite unusual, with the whole pandemic affecting consoles and now you have all these technologies like Frame Gen and VRR which can definitely make consoles like the base PS5 last even longer, and that without taking into consideration the new tech that Sony will use on Pro (that works like DLSS)

Anyway, imo 3 years isn't enough for me if the new console is costing around 5K here in Brazil (which i think it will be the case, since the base PS5 is costing around 3.700 reais now). Like i said, i still don't have a new TV with VRR support or 120Hz and that costs around 6-7K here, which is A LOT (minimum wage here is below 2K) and i feel like not having this kind of TV is actually hindering my enjoyment of my own console. I could play Immortals of Aveum with a decent framerate if i had a TV with 120Hz...so even if i wanted a Pro, i would first need to buy a TV

But like you said, it's all about choices and having fun. I have fun with my PS5 and i feel like i spent my money well. Regardless of what happens, I'm still looking forward to buy new games and enjoy what i can from my PS5

Re: Doubt Cast Over PS5 Pro Actually Releasing This Year

themaladroit

I don't really care when it's coming out because i don't really see a reason to upgrade it. I don't even have the money, but even if i had, i would need to think it over.

First, i don't even have a TV that supports VRR or 120Hz (which is something that can improve performance in some games like Alan Wake 2) and i think this is something that devs will rely more and more as time moves on. Also, if devs start to use Frame Gen a lot, we could have a lot of games running well even on base PS5 (as long as you have a 120Hz TV with VRR)

Second, even though not every game runs perfectly on PS5, the console itself is still running most games just fine and those that aren't running well won't necessarily run decently with the Pro if they're CPU bound (like Dragon's Dogma 2), since the Pro has a very small boost on the CPU clock... and i think GTA6 will be one of these CPU bound games, since pretty much every open world game is CPU bound

Third, i think buying a Pro now will not benefit me since I'm planning on getting a PS6, and i just prefer the leap between generations to be more substantial, otherwise i just feel like I'm spending money on the next big shiny thing and not taking advantage of anything properly. I just bought a PS5, buying a Pro and then in 3 years buying a PS6...? That doesn't work for me

Re: Mini Review: Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (PS5) - Yeah, It's Pretty Good

themaladroit

@Oxy nope, you're right. Very barebones """review""" that doesn't explain a lot. I played the demo on Steam so i know what to expect. The combat can be a bit complex and the reviewer fails to mention that, for example. He doesn't explain the premise of the story. Doesn't say anything regarding performance, voice acting....
Games are expensive so you should expect more detailed reviews before making your decision and spend your money, regardless of the game and its scope. This whole mini review thing doesn't really help me to decide anything (except in this case, because, like i said, i played the demo, so i know what to expect)

I advice anyone interested in the game to just watch YouTube videos about it or read more detailed reviews and then form your own opinions

Re: Hands On: Valorant's PS5 Beta Is Impressive and Unlike Anything Else on Console

themaladroit

@Dusk_Actual I'm not gatekeeping anything and you're selling the wrong idea of this game. People need to be aware that they need to have fast reaction or else this will be a very boring and time consuming experience to them and console players aren't familiar with these kinds of online FPS games that resembles CSGO. If you don't agree with me, i don't care, just don't go tell me I'm discouraging anyone when I'm giving my honest opinion about this game. Anyone can try, but that doesn't mean everyone will succeed or even enjoy it because of its requirements.
