got bored of seeing the same monster design by the end of the trailer, which isn't great. otherwise, i thought this looked promising, but there's just no variety in enemy design, which feels like wasted potential.
@NEStalgia super late reply - but, hey, sounds like you found the fallout DNA in the game! LOL
i don't even remember playing it, to be totally honest. i know i did, at least through the intro... maybe played a whole hour. who knows. i don't remember it in the slightest. all i remember is thinking "okay, screw this, i'm going back to a real fallout game."
thought about trying again after the NPC update, but nah. too disappointing, generally.
@NEStalgia oh, right - i forgot about fallout 76. intentionally. because i haaaaaaaaaaaated it LOL. fair point!
yeah, would love to see those vague rumors come true and have obsidian take a crack at another game, but with bethesda's new commitment to fast turnaround... i'm expecting them to pump out a slightly more polished fallout 4 in a new location with the same old factions. probably in ten years.
@NEStalgia i don't know if i'd call fallout 4 realistic haha but yeah, there's not nearly as much of the tongue in cheek commentary in 4 as there has been in fallout games past - which is super disappointing. it's still... there, but definitely very neutered.
this feels incredibly obvious and i've always wondered why people clamor to see the series go elsewhere in the world. it wouldn't be fallout if they did.
then again, a dangerously large swathe of the fallout fan community lack the media literacy to recognize satire, so....
@Ralizah presumably a small market sample could be considered legitimate analysis, particularly from a typically robust (and rude) comment section on a website mostly visited by hardcore gamers.
@Ralizah there's barely any comments on this article and mine was basically the only one referencing any sense of actual nostalgia for it (someone else had it and didn't even remember buying it in the first place, let alone playing the game), so that's why i'm wondering why they're bothering spending money on this. didn't think that was too complicated to figure out.
i think this will be a letdown for the people hoping for a full multiplat release of xbox first party titles. that being said: still crossing my fingers for third-party acquisitions going multiplat again (i really just want elder scrolls 6 on PS5... or PS7 by the time it actually comes to fruition)
@Grimwood do you also leave these comments under articles on the site covering the Last of Us TV show? or articles covering general industry news? or is it just when the site covers a genre of game that you don't like?
@TheDudeElDuderino gotta say it definitely felt like a portable PS2 at the time. though the games couldn't be quite as big, a lot of the time i think they looked just as good - though scaling for size probably helped, in a way
dang, bought Biomutant cheap very recently at my local.
not too mad about it. it's rather fun - not much to write home about, i suppose, but combat is slick and the setting is pretty cool. the narration bit can grate, but it's a rather fun premise, and fairly well done.
big "how do you do, fellow kids?" energy in this game. truly confusing. not sure what era they think they're in but this whole aesthetic is really not it.
good for them for trying something new, but wow, does this feel insanely out of touch or what?
gonna wait for a cut in price - i rarely buy games day one (Persona 5 Royal, Spider-Man, and Outer Worlds have been my only day one purchases on the PS4) but i've been particularly super skeptical of this release, for sure. even with the surprisingly high review scores, given my expectations. the pop-in sounds really, really distracting, and the environments.... blech.
been a massive sonic fan since i was a little kid; Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis was one of my first ever video games, if not the first. have pretty much every release, even the crap ones. i definitely wanna give this a shot eventually, but man, this release just makes me mourn the Adventure games even more. this new world just... it just seems so soulless and off.
i'll be waiting for a pretty deep price cut, i think.
@UltimateOtaku91 give Cold Steel some more time! it took a bit to really get me hooked, but now i'm obsessed. cheers, here's hoping you end up loving it!
actually would have liked to try this game, but this is just about the worst move i've seen yet. what an absolutely ridiculous concept. crap cherry on top of this month's crap sundae. i mean come ON - lego DC super villains? THIS glorified demo? yiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes.
@SterlingEyes HAHA yeah the difficulty has def already spiked pretty hard but i'm approaching it patiently and staying super ~zen~ and appreciating the challenge. i know i'm only just getting started and nowhere near the hellish bits, but i'm actually really looking forward to the next big spike in difficulty lol
@jmac1686 late reply, but - i've avoided souls games for years for the same reason. never thought i'd enjoy them. tbh, i'm a total button-masher.
with all the elden ring hype, though, and how interesting it looks, i decided just yesterday to grab a copy of dark souls remastered, and MAAAN. it's definitely hard, but it's not quite as frustrating as people make it out to be, and i'm a controller-thrower, BIG time. i thought it'd be torture. the first boss fight alone had me yelling at the TV, but out of excitement and tension rather than sheer frustration.
if you get a chance to try one of these games out, man, take it. you might be really, REALLY, pleasantly surprised. i absolutely thought i'd hate these games for YEARS. i'm very much not the target audience.
but i think i fell in love with these games last night. cheers
bit torn on this, as i think exclusivity sells, and it keeps the gaming market from being too homogenized in a sense - but also console war culture seems archaic these days.
what i'm NOT torn on is that i really, really hate all this talk seemingly leading to streaming over outright hardware. that sucks. there's a space for it, sure, but it definitely feels as if that'll be the norm some years ahead as opposed to a less.... dedicated option.
@AdamNovice there's much easier and more effective ways of showing "disrespect" than going into a technical deep-dive to prove a deceptive marketing practice
the aesthetic alone makes me want to like this... but no. the more that comes out about it, the less i can push myself to think "i'll get it on sale, eventually!"
have nier, as should everyone - but a great addition for those who (somehow) don't! psyched to see ghostrunner, glad i held out on buying it. glad to see a solid month on PSNow, especially when the Plus lineup is... what it is.
wouldn't mind if i had a ps5. can't see anyone who isn't into CoD not already owning that game, and... WWE? didn't that game also get, like, AWFUL reviews for being totally broken or am i confusing this with something else?
i'm not really a visual novel or adventure game type of guy, but i'm maybe 5 or 6 hours into somnium files and it's really, really excellent. highly recommend it to anyone that was interested but thought "maybe not my cup of tea." you'll be pleasantly surprised!
"you may be interested in the ex-Konami manβs novel..." hate to be that guy, but this isn't a novel. that might be a bit misleading - I'd change that to either book or essay collection
about once a week, i'm reminded why i haven't sprung for a PS5 yet.
i'll be thanking my old-as-dirt dualshock controller today for its years of service πβ¨
not that i love ariana grande or anything, but holy crap guys, let people like stuff. people like celebrities. not everyone voluntarily lives in a cage in their basement. good god
@Voltan that only proves my point, haha. PSNow has such potential to be a wonderful service, but it's been handled so poorly in nearly every regard, definitely including its poor availability
@fR_eeBritney @fR_eeBritney i buy my sub when it's discounted - they have me hooked on just enough games in my library that i wouldn't have bought otherwise, for sure! but the overlap between the two services is absurd and if i want my weird niche RPGs, and i want to play games online, i'm basically stuck. really feel like i got myself on the hook for them, even though they hardly give me a reason to stay. bleh. plus, i thought streaming ps3 games would be nice - but even with my stellar internet connection, they're practically unplayable. big bummer. the two should just be collapsed into each other, for sure.
