Re: 'Americana Naivete' Essential to Fallout, Series Will Remain in US

@NEStalgia super late reply - but, hey, sounds like you found the fallout DNA in the game! LOL

i don't even remember playing it, to be totally honest. i know i did, at least through the intro... maybe played a whole hour. who knows. i don't remember it in the slightest. all i remember is thinking "okay, screw this, i'm going back to a real fallout game."

thought about trying again after the NPC update, but nah. too disappointing, generally.

@NEStalgia oh, right - i forgot about fallout 76. intentionally. because i haaaaaaaaaaaated it LOL. fair point!

yeah, would love to see those vague rumors come true and have obsidian take a crack at another game, but with bethesda's new commitment to fast turnaround... i'm expecting them to pump out a slightly more polished fallout 4 in a new location with the same old factions. probably in ten years.

edit: clarified a point

haha.... matt booty. nice.

i think this will be a letdown for the people hoping for a full multiplat release of xbox first party titles. that being said: still crossing my fingers for third-party acquisitions going multiplat again (i really just want elder scrolls 6 on PS5... or PS7 by the time it actually comes to fruition)

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Sonic Frontiers?

sanguinekhajiit

gonna wait for a cut in price - i rarely buy games day one (Persona 5 Royal, Spider-Man, and Outer Worlds have been my only day one purchases on the PS4) but i've been particularly super skeptical of this release, for sure. even with the surprisingly high review scores, given my expectations. the pop-in sounds really, really distracting, and the environments.... blech.

been a massive sonic fan since i was a little kid; Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis was one of my first ever video games, if not the first. have pretty much every release, even the crap ones. i definitely wanna give this a shot eventually, but man, this release just makes me mourn the Adventure games even more. this new world just... it just seems so soulless and off.

i'll be waiting for a pretty deep price cut, i think.

Re: Hands On: FromSoftware Puts Its All into Elden Ring

@SterlingEyes HAHA yeah the difficulty has def already spiked pretty hard but i'm approaching it patiently and staying super ~zen~ and appreciating the challenge. i know i'm only just getting started and nowhere near the hellish bits, but i'm actually really looking forward to the next big spike in difficulty lol

@jmac1686 late reply, but - i've avoided souls games for years for the same reason. never thought i'd enjoy them. tbh, i'm a total button-masher.

with all the elden ring hype, though, and how interesting it looks, i decided just yesterday to grab a copy of dark souls remastered, and MAAAN. it's definitely hard, but it's not quite as frustrating as people make it out to be, and i'm a controller-thrower, BIG time. i thought it'd be torture. the first boss fight alone had me yelling at the TV, but out of excitement and tension rather than sheer frustration.

if you get a chance to try one of these games out, man, take it. you might be really, REALLY, pleasantly surprised. i absolutely thought i'd hate these games for YEARS. i'm very much not the target audience.

but i think i fell in love with these games last night. cheers

Re: PlayStation Boss Wants a Future Where Sony Games Aren't Gated from a Wider Audience

bit torn on this, as i think exclusivity sells, and it keeps the gaming market from being too homogenized in a sense - but also console war culture seems archaic these days.

what i'm NOT torn on is that i really, really hate all this talk seemingly leading to streaming over outright hardware. that sucks. there's a space for it, sure, but it definitely feels as if that'll be the norm some years ahead as opposed to a less.... dedicated option.

Re: PS Plus January 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

@fR_eeBritney @fR_eeBritney i buy my sub when it's discounted - they have me hooked on just enough games in my library that i wouldn't have bought otherwise, for sure! but the overlap between the two services is absurd and if i want my weird niche RPGs, and i want to play games online, i'm basically stuck. really feel like i got myself on the hook for them, even though they hardly give me a reason to stay. bleh. plus, i thought streaming ps3 games would be nice - but even with my stellar internet connection, they're practically unplayable. big bummer. the two should just be collapsed into each other, for sure.
