Here we are again. Another day, another opportunity for Geoff Keighley to bang the drum for Gamescom Opening Night Live. The man is notorious for getting his audience hyped up ahead of these events — he's already teased a number of announcements and updates on various games. His latest concerns Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, the remastered collection of SEGA's beloved arcade series.
The title has been drawing attention with its roster of playable characters. Of course, we'll be able to play as the usual crew — AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, and GonGon — but the developer is going above and beyond, adding in several fun cameos from other SEGA franchises. Beat from Jet Set Radio, Sonic and Tails of the Sonic games, and even Yakuza's Kazuma Kiryu have all been confirmed as playable guest stars. However, Keighley seems to think the next character will take the cake:
According to the presenter, we "won't believe" who's joining the lineup next. This mystery character will be announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live, so fortunately we don't have long to wait before we find out who it is.
So far, all the characters are SEGA's, so it narrows things down quite a lot. Joker from Persona 5? Shenmue's Ryo Hazuki? Bayonetta from, er, Bayonetta? With the aforementioned reveal of Kiryu, the doors are open to basically anyone, so your guess is as good as ours.
