As every noteworthy video game under the sun gets a movie or TV series adaptation, it was only a matter of time before Cyberpunk 2077 found itself attached to a producer and a big-screen debut.

Now, it's reported by Deadline that Paramount Pictures will make a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film.

CD Projekt Red is involved in the project, and Paramount has attached Lorenzo di Bonaventura as the producer. Movies such as G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Transformers: The Last Knight are part of Bonaventura's back catalogue, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that this will be a quality adaptation.

However, if Bonaventura needs any casting tips, I think Keanu Reeves would make a really good Johnny Silverhand.

On the announcement, joint-CEO of CD Projekt Red, Michał Nowakowski, said: "We're excited about Paramount as a future partner who shares our creative ambitions for the Cyberpunk franchise. We look forward to sharing more details at the appropriate time."

The Cyberpunk universe has already been adapted once, with the Edgerunners anime TV show proving very popular and becoming very well liked across two seasons. I don't expect this movie will quite reach the same kind of quality.

Bonaventura has also been involved in Madame Web, The Meg, and Pet Sematary.
