In one of the least surprising updates you'll see this week, Sony has announced a delay for upcoming action adventure game, Kena: Scars of Kosmora.
Published by Sony and developed by Ember Lab, the game is now due for release on PS5 and PC sometime in 2027, though it doesn't have a firm date in place just yet.
The news comes via a new post on the PS Blog, in which the team explains the decision.
"We can’t wait to share a new installment of Kena’s story with you," the post reads.
"At the same time, we want to deliver a top-notch game that exceeds the quality we achieved with our 2021 debut, Bridge of Spirits, and at a much bigger scale. To do that we need just a bit more time. Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver."
The post continues, providing a bit more detail on the sequel, which has a "broader and deeper scope" than the first game.
An older and more experienced spirit guide in the sequel, Kena sets off to the island of Kosmora in pursuit of guidance and to face her own inner demons.
The new setting has its own culture and history based around the four elements, but after a disaster wiped out one of the settlements, that history has become obscured.
Interestingly, it sounds like each of Kosmora's cultures has its own spirit guide temple that act like large dungeons. When completed, you'll receive "transformative rewards that propel Kena’s adventure" — sounds very The Legend of Zelda.
Additionally, the mount seen in the game's debut trailer is a large crystalline wolf that will aid Kena in traversal, combat, and puzzle-solving.
It's looking and sounding very promising. The original was a very strong debut, and I really think the sequel has potential to be a vast improvement — let's hope it delivers.

Good. There's no room for it between now and Christmas.
Find it a quiet spot next year and let it stand out.
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Yee that was to be expected with the radio silence from devs.
Personally dont mind letting them cook a bit longer, so many games to play.
Definetly worth the wait tho, first Kena is still beyond gorgeous of a game.
Excited to play this next year.
Makes sense, too many games releasing now, and they will do better to release it fully finished. Looking forward to this one.
I'm drowning in new games at the moment, so I'm more than happy to let them cook and give us the best experience possible.
Very much looking forward to this when it does eventually drop.
2027 is fine. At least it's not the dreaded 2028.
I reckon sometime around March which gives Sony a pretty strong start to 2027 with Until Dawn 2 in January and God of War Laufey in February.
Figured as much. I’m only surprised when games don’t get at least 1 delay. 😝
Cool hopefully enough time to add a fast swim button. Loved the original but swimming was painfully slow!
It’s fine. There are enough games to play for the rest of this year and beyond.
Saiya it isn't so. Taroble news
Next year is looking just as stacked as this year to be honest
I still haven't got round to playing the first 1 yet!
I managed to figure that one out on my own 😅
when was a game actually “really polished” after they’ve delayed it lmao
@Cerny
Elden Ring for Switch 2
I think an April or May release would be perfect. The more quiet period where the game has a chance to breathe. Playstation has UD2 and Laufey already kicking off 2027.
I was starting to worry PlayStation was on the verge of cutting ties with this project, given how radio silent it's been, so I'm happy to see it's still trucking along.
Really looking forward to the game's release though.
This was right up there in the top of my wishlist this year. But there really was no good window to release with everything coming out. If they push to spring I think it will only be good for them and us in the end.
I’ll say this again for the people in the back:
THERE ARE TOO MANY GOOD GAMES COMIMG OUT TOO QUICKLY!!! This is a big reason why so many games are failing!
People seem to think gaming is in a bad way right now because no good games re being made. Nope! Too many good games are being made at the same time!
Probably April or May
Shame, it was the game i was looking forward to the most this year, besides GTA6. Hoping on a early 2027 release then.
Good it would get lost in all the games releasing this year it madness its crazy how many games are dropping constantly i think it looks great hopefully is good i love platform games i wish more were made in this generation
That is fine by me.
I am so SUPER EXCITED for this game!
I have always said Sony could have bought Ember Lab for a HUGE fraction that they spent on Bungie, and would have been much better off!
I get a Nintendo vibe off this company, like the early Rare days.....That is an awesome thing!
💔 Although not surprising I'm still pretty bummed about it. I'm still excited though and will definitely be there when it is ready.
Forget about the timing, forget about what else is coming out and when, and just focus on finishing the game so you don't spend the first weeks after release in damage control mode, desperately racing to patch things which should have patched before launch.
I share this advice freely with every single studio for every single game.
I know sometimes the cash is running out and they need to get it out the door for the burst of sales revenue to keep them afloat, but releasing a game before it's really truly ready is bad for everyone, every time.
I don't think anyone is remotely surprised by this. Nevertheless, I'm more than happy for them to take their time.
I always say if the finished product ends up better, then the wait will have been worth it. Looking forward to it in 2027.
Hardly surprising. The silence was deafening
I've already said as much in a previous comment some 2 months ago... It's gonna be delayed until after February's dynamic female duo (Lara and Faye) and their marketing bubble, so it'll most likely launch around April or May...
Delays never lead to a polished game. Games that aren't delayed consistently release in a better state than delayed games.
