Zenless Zone Zero’s age rating has increased on the PS5 in Europe, from PEGI 12 to PEGI 16.

The change is likely to reflect the current content in the game, although there’s been no alterations in the US (where it’s rated Teen) or on the App Store (where it’s 13+).

In the disclaimers section, there are references to “moderate violence” and “sexual innuendo”.

Dev HoYoverse has leaned more and more into the physics of its female characters, shall we say, but it’s unclear whether this is the reason for the ratings bump.

Some fans are hoping that the change will allow the Chinese juggernaut to get even more explicit with the title’s content, but seeing as the ratings haven’t changed in any other regions, I highly doubt that.

This weekend an animation of new character Phoenix went viral, showing off the dev’s remarkable cutscene presentation.

The aggressive fanservice has been a huge point of contention among critics of the title, but the gacha model arguably incentivises this aspect of the game, with the “prettiest” and most powerful characters tending to sell best.
