@Godot25 Lmao the few microtransactions in FH5? Really? The game launched with a $20 VIP membership, $30 car pass, $35 expansion bundle, and more.
Also GT is a series that's had microtransactions for years. When God of War and and Ghost of Tsushima start having exp packs and weapon bundles then you have an argument, but no this is not the same thing. Also you act like you can't buy MS games for full price and that you own them for $15 a month. It's absolutely idiotic to me that people think renting a game and then paying money for DLC is somehow a benefit. You're just throwing money into the trash.
This is starting to remind me of the MGS5 review fiasco where everyone was only given so much time to play the game for their review so it was rated so highly before reviewers got to the end and saw the major flaws with the game and how incomplete it felt.
This is more on review sites fault this time. They all rush through games to get their reviews out by release date to get as much views as possible. Like does a day or two really make that much of a difference? The PC version is being blasted with negative reviews for how terrible the performance is.
Sounds like they're basically doing what people wanted and combining Plus and Now, but also adding a BC tier for those that want BC and no PS Now. $16 a month is $4 cheaper than if you bought Now and Plus separately. It's obviously still not fully comparable to Gamepass, but its not meant to be and still a good deal.
I'm sorry but that's pretty damn good for what you're paying. And why wouldn't they put multiplayer games? The main point of PS Plus is access to multiplayer.
@Danloaded There's only been two months of Plus this year and in January you got Persona 5 Strikers, Dirt 5, and Deep Rock. All 3 of those games are great and 2 of them go for $60 still when not on sale. If that's not a good month for $4 then I don't know what is. Some of you are just delusional and have unrealistic expectations.
@Envy Im just as bad as upset fanboys for pointing out their fake reviews? Uh no. I obviously don't mean theres nothing coming out for Xbox literally. Redfall and Starfield are supposedly coming out late this year yet there's not even gameplay revealed for them and Stalker and Scorn are in development hell and keep getting delayed, Stalker 2 is just a 2 month exclusive too. Either way Sony has more major games releasing in the first 6 months of the year than Xbox has all year. I'll also be enjoying those games on PC.
@TheRedComet This. The SNES/N64 cartridges had wildly different game prices and the game budgets were nowhere near what they are now. I couldn't care less about paying an extra $10 as long as the games are complete and not full of microtransactions. I just don't see the big deal, especially when people spend $5 on coffee every day.
Go and click on the profiles of the people rating 0/10. At least half of them have all Sony games as 0/10 and then you see Halo Infinite as 10/10. It's mostly upset Xbox fanboys that they have nothing coming out this year.
@KundaliniRising333 I'm not seeing these long, descriptive reviews making good points. The "most helpful" negative review is in Spanish and just says there's too many NPC's and the game is boring, it's obviously from someone who hasn't even played the game. Funny, he also has Forza, Halo Infinite, Pyschonaughts 2, and Twelve Minutes at 10/10 meanwhile Returnal is a 1 and Rachet and Clank is a 2. It's blatant fanboy downvoting dude, stop trying to say otherwise.
The game is far better than what it launched at, but that said it's still just a giant collectathon with no real plot or focus. You just collect materials, ships, and upgrades to collect them. Combat is barebones and boring and I don't see this update changing it much. That said I still put dozens of hours into it, but you get to a point where you've seen the same randomly generated worlds over and over and the sense of exploration gets dull. It's a solid game now and stays fun for a while, 7/10 is the exact score I would give it.
I don't get the hype over this. It's going to be the same barebones open world with nothing to do just like it was over a year ago, just prettier. I played it with maxed settings on PC and while the game's story is decent and the gameplay can be fun tweaking all the implants and skills, it's still not a great game and falls incredibly short of all its early promises.
Censorship sucks and all but lets be real, 99% of you are never going to buy this game. The outrage is hilarious. Most people have probably never even heard of this game before today.
Lol I knew it was just going to be an "HD" port. You can make the game look the same with emulation using your grandmas potato PC. I'll still buy it because it's one of my favorite games of all time, but was really expecting more.
I'm going to be incredibly surprised if this doesn't come out to be a janky mess. I'll admit the trailers look decent, but this game has had a really shady development cycle with number of people leaving its production and talking about how bad it was. Very rarely does a game go through what they were reporting and end up fine.
@NEStalgia You're on drugs if you think MS is going to touch this series in any way. It's everything they want for a Gamepass series. Live service and endlessly monetized to hell.
@Ken_Kaniff It will absolutely benefit PS players. They didn't just spend $4 billion for nothing. Destiny may stay multiplatform but Bungie will work on things published by Sony that will absolutely not be multiplatform. It's already been stated they're working on other games. Plus that's just what they're saying now. When and if Playstation revenue starts to drop you can absolutely bet they'll have them make a new IP that will probably be Ps5/PC only.
@Krysus If this is Sony being scared then how scared is MS spending $80 billion in two years because they can't make any great games themselves besides Forza, Halo, and Gears?
@get2sammyb What can Sony do if MS throws hundreds of millions of dollars at the MLB to put it on GP? Should they just not make the game anymore and lose tons of revenue? I love how the end all is a god damn rental service. We've been buying games forever and now its like games suddenly aren't worth it? Go get Gamefly if you want to play it cheap. I can't wait til Sony makes their GP alternative and everything turns live service so you can whine about that.
It's insane people complain about PS Plus. Its such a value if it was on PC i'd pay for it. Persona Strikers on sale on Steam is still $30+ and is not even a full year old, nevermind add in Deep Rock and Dirt 5. It's $4 a month, stop complaining. Compare that to the junk GWG gets each month. Each month isn't going to please everyone.
@Halucigens Maybe because some people dont want every game added to their account? I brought up GWG because it's the service comparable with PS Plus and works the exact same way. Also you dont claim anything on those services because you dont get to keep anything unlike Plus and GWG. You get what they provide for as long as they provide it and certain content comes and goes. With Plus and GWG you have access to those games forever as long as you have a subscription because they're added to your account.
I couldn't care less about doing mundane tasks in games I have no interest in for points when I make enough money to pay for gaming. Time is more important than money.
@Halucigens Claiming games with Games With Gold works the exact same way so I don't see your point. At least you can claim the games without even needing to turn on your system and can claim Ps5 games without a Ps5. There's really no excuse to not have 5 minutes out of a month to claim something.
I assume it comes down to licenses and that a PS Plus game doesn't essentially mean you get the license for the free upgrade as if you really purchased it. Also its 1 Ps5 game and 2 Ps4 games so I don't see why you think Planet Coaster would apply to Ps4 as well just because there is a Ps4 version. I think you're expecting too much from what's essentially bonuses of the service. Also at least you get Ps5 games. GWG just get Xbox One games and whatever BC crap they can dig up.
No thanks. The only newer game worth playing in that service would be the Mass Effect compilation but you're better off buying it since it's dirt cheap and 3 huge games are going to take a long time to get through. Even Gamestop has it for less than $20.
Does Amazon put their shows on Netflix just because its the more popular service? There's no way it would work, MS already takes massive losses with GP and splits money with EA since their crappy basic service is part of it. So MS splits more revenue to get it on PS and then what? It's going to take half the planet subscribing to actually make money? And then in a few years when MS realizes that there really is not a billion people that will subscribe to their service and its still not making money what do they do with all these developers/publishers?
It's just more consolidation and throwing money around to pay to win the industry. It would basically be Sony bending over backwards and letting MS have their way with them while Sony is the one who's became market leader by making great games and letting the consumers decide. If GP starts eating into Sony's revenue/profit then they're just going to pull the same type of service. Games will suffer though and there will be less complete single player and even multiplayer games launched. Like Spencer said it will be about making money from the back end of games.
Yes they do need to make some big moves. First thing they should do is announce full emulation BC and let people know that games they buy from now on will be BC with any future systems so they keep people invested in the Playstation ecosystem.
Then they really need to make a publisher acquisition. People act like Sony has no money to spend and they have no idea of what they're talking about. Obviously they don't have MS money, only like 4 other companies on the planet do, but they can easily buy a major publisher. Playstation division alone makes Sony billions of pure profit every year.
Take Two would be a massive gain and making GTA Ps5 and PC exclusive would be a huge counter punch. If not them then Capcom, Square, or Konami would be a good move. The only problem with either of those 3 is that most people buy those games on Sony platforms to begin with, but still they need more content to compete now. Consolidation is bad for the industry and taking multiplatform games and making theme exclusive is even worse, but MS is not going to stop doing this until they brute force control of the industry so it's time Sony starts too. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo goes after Capcom or Square.
@naruball It's just insane people are trying to justify this as good competition. Then all they bring up is Spiderman and try to act like that's in any way comparable to buying up 2 massive publishers to take games off other platforms. Buying out the competition because you can't make great games yourself and let consumers choose for themselves is so good for an industry!
@gollumb82 Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but this is just not healthy for the industry and shouldn't be praised. I wouldn't want Sony and Nintendo doing the same thing and consolidating multiplatform publishers. It's just terrible business and shows that if you can't compete normally just buy out the competition using outside cash.
That said Jordan never went after free agents like Kobe did. He had amazing help but it was very different back then.
This guy just shows more and more how much of a hypocrite he is. He's worried about other companies ruining the industry but is perfectly fine buying up 2 publishers in 2 years because his own studios can't make great games themselves. How is it healthy taking multiplatform companies and forcing them exclusive? Anyone who is a fan of this is a complete moron.
@gollumb82 Good lord you are dense but that is a great analogy considering Kobe could never win on his own and had to buy up the best free agents to compete and win his championships.
Why are you listing these studios when Spencer even said yesterday that they wouldn't be taking games away from other communities. Yes certain new IP's will probably be exclusive, but there is no way in hell games like Cod and Overwatch won't come to the massive PS userbase.
@Sakisa Lol so you've yet to see B4B, Outriders, Rainbow Six Extraction?, and many more to come. Most of the big games that come to GP day one are live service already. And it will come eventually. Do you think companies are going to give up $45 and not make their money back in some way? Spencer literally said that now games are going to be made to make money from the back end rather than the initial sale, what do you think that means for development? Either way what makes you think MS is going to make them any more than a CoD machine? They've done nothing but spend money. Just look at how empty this year is for Xbox again. It doesn't matter who is buying out who, consolidation is terrible and buying out the competition to gatekeep games and make your platform look better is completely anti consumer. The worst part is they're not even using money gained from the gaming industry to do this.
@Dweich02 Lol I'm the child yet you're the one saying "my friend works at 343 and everything is sunshine and rainbows" when there was an entire report done on the developer and the issues with Infinite. It launched incomplete and doesn't have features many games before it launched with.
@Dweich02 Successful? It didn't even launch as the number one selling game of the month. Well my uncle works at 343 and everything in the article is true. You see how much of clown you sound like saying "my friend" says this and that?
It just blows my mind there's so many Xbox fanboys on here saying it's a good thing MS "saved" Activision. Oh please, you'd be crying like babies if Sony did the same thing. You cry even more so when they do temporary exclusivity. You're fine with it because "muh Gamepass", when games start to suffer because they're all developed half baked and geared towards live service so they can make their money back in the back end you'll understand. Consolidation isn't good for any industry. Buying 2 massive publishers in 2 years because you can't even make great games yourself is a joke.
@Dweich02 Lol what? There are so many issues at 343. There was an entire report done on the developer with tons of complaints. It's why Infinite took so long and is so barebones compared to previous Halo games.
The good thing is Spencer did say that he's not going to take games away from other communities so we can stop with the end of the world mentality. So series like CoD and Overwatch will absolutely still come to PS consoles. The thing I don't get is that even if you put those games on GP, does that even lure more people over to the service? Most casuals just buy a console and buy their Madden and CoD every year. They're not going to bother with a subscription service to play extra games they have no interest in. That said it's still terrible for the industry for MS to keep doing this. It's just sad that we went decades without a console maker buying up 3rd party publishers and now since Xbox can't make great games on their own so they were allowed to use big daddy MS's check book and buy 2 of the biggest publishers in the last 2 years. If you Xbox fanboys think this is good for the industry you're insane and don't come crying when everything is live service.
I think the big thing is Sony needs to react and unfortunately the only thing they can do is buy up a publisher of their own. People act like Sony doesn't have the money, you have no idea of what you're talking about. They make billions of pure profit every year and if Take Two can spend $12 billion on a mobile company and Sony makes way more money than Take Two, then they have plenty of cash to throw around. If I had my choice I'd say buy Take Two and make GTA exclusive again. That would be a major blow even beyond CoD level. But honestly I'd love to have them purchase Konami since everyone would win. Lure Kojima back to the franchise he made legendary, give him his try at Silent Hill, remake Suikoden 2 and find a developer to continue the franchise and make it a household name, I could go on and on.
People trying to downplay this are just delusional. It's funny how Sony gets so much slack for temporary exclusive deals yet people try to find the positives in the biggest conglomerate in the world using money from outside the gaming industry to brute force control it. MS could have created dozens of studios with that money but they take the lazy route just buying out the competition. No matter how you look at it this is horrible for gaming. I can't even comprehend how stupid you have to be to try and defend one company spending billions to gatekeep you from the games you've been playing for years.
@jrt87 What massive publishers did Nintendo buy up to brute force their control of the industry? They did some shady stuff, but nothing compared to this.
If this gets approved it basically starts the end of standard gaming as we know it. MS is brute forcing their way to control of the industry and games and gamers will suffer. You think you're going to get the same type of games with your $15 a month sub? You're basically going to be paying for free to play games.
Anyone who thinks this positive in any way is a delusional fool. Sony and Nintendo didn't brute force their way into being industry leaders, they made great games and let the consumers choose. They didn't take away massive games from other platforms to make their platform look better. This is terrible for everyone.
I really hope monopoly laws stop this sale from going through. MS is brute forcing its way into complete control of an industry using money gained from outside the industry. This is an absolute joke and gaming will suffer massively for it. Kotick is still going to be CEO for those of you that hope MS will treat the employees better.
I may be in the minority, but I actually liked the Diablo style weapon system of the second game. I think it could have been streamlined and made much better rather than just completely ditching it and going back to a Doom clone (even if that's what the series originally was). Still looks fun though and will pick it up on a sale.
@Col_McCafferty He is absolutely a major hypocrite and one of the most self absorbed people in gaming talking as if he does everything right. All he's done is use big daddy Microsoft's money to buy out competition. People praise this guy like he's a hero, yet he was on the same round table as Don Mattrick. It's just that people are so dense and fell for MS making Mattrick the scapegoat. When the future is mostly live service junk that comes out half baked so they can make their money from the back end, people can thank MS and Phil for it.

That said Jordan never went after free agents like Kobe did. He had amazing help but it was very different back then.
Re: Xbox Boss 'Trusts' PlayStation Not to Damage Gaming Industry, Cautions Against Tech Giants
Re: All These Activision Blizzard Studios Will Likely Cease PlayStation Development
Why are you listing these studios when Spencer even said yesterday that they wouldn't be taking games away from other communities. Yes certain new IP's will probably be exclusive, but there is no way in hell games like Cod and Overwatch won't come to the massive PS userbase.
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
@Dweich02 Lol I'm the child yet you're the one saying "my friend works at 343 and everything is sunshine and rainbows" when there was an entire report done on the developer and the issues with Infinite. It launched incomplete and doesn't have features many games before it launched with.
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
@Dweich02 Successful? It didn't even launch as the number one selling game of the month. Well my uncle works at 343 and everything in the article is true. You see how much of clown you sound like saying "my friend" says this and that?
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
It just blows my mind there's so many Xbox fanboys on here saying it's a good thing MS "saved" Activision. Oh please, you'd be crying like babies if Sony did the same thing. You cry even more so when they do temporary exclusivity. You're fine with it because "muh Gamepass", when games start to suffer because they're all developed half baked and geared towards live service so they can make their money back in the back end you'll understand. Consolidation isn't good for any industry. Buying 2 massive publishers in 2 years because you can't even make great games yourself is a joke.
Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover
@Dweich02 Lol what? There are so many issues at 343. There was an entire report done on the developer with tons of complaints. It's why Infinite took so long and is so barebones compared to previous Halo games.
Re: These Are the Franchises PS5, PS4 May Lose to Activision Blizzard Buyout
$70 billion for mostly dead IPs, Blizzard, mobile trash, and CoD. Just imagine the kind of games and studios that could have funded.
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
People trying to downplay this are just delusional. It's funny how Sony gets so much slack for temporary exclusive deals yet people try to find the positives in the biggest conglomerate in the world using money from outside the gaming industry to brute force control it. MS could have created dozens of studios with that money but they take the lazy route just buying out the competition. No matter how you look at it this is horrible for gaming. I can't even comprehend how stupid you have to be to try and defend one company spending billions to gatekeep you from the games you've been playing for years.
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
@jrt87 What massive publishers did Nintendo buy up to brute force their control of the industry? They did some shady stuff, but nothing compared to this.
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
If this gets approved it basically starts the end of standard gaming as we know it. MS is brute forcing their way to control of the industry and games and gamers will suffer. You think you're going to get the same type of games with your $15 a month sub? You're basically going to be paying for free to play games.
Anyone who thinks this positive in any way is a delusional fool. Sony and Nintendo didn't brute force their way into being industry leaders, they made great games and let the consumers choose. They didn't take away massive games from other platforms to make their platform look better. This is terrible for everyone.
Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard
Gaming is just getting worse with every generation. MS really is one of the most anticonsumer companies in the world.
Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard
I really hope monopoly laws stop this sale from going through. MS is brute forcing its way into complete control of an industry using money gained from outside the industry. This is an absolute joke and gaming will suffer massively for it. Kotick is still going to be CEO for those of you that hope MS will treat the employees better.
Re: Shadow Warrior 3 Out 1st March, First Two Games Free with Pre-Orders
I may be in the minority, but I actually liked the Diablo style weapon system of the second game. I think it could have been streamlined and made much better rather than just completely ditching it and going back to a Doom clone (even if that's what the series originally was). Still looks fun though and will pick it up on a sale.
Re: Xbox Boss Reacts to PS Plus, PS Now Rumours, Says It's the 'Right Answer'
@Col_McCafferty He is absolutely a major hypocrite and one of the most self absorbed people in gaming talking as if he does everything right. All he's done is use big daddy Microsoft's money to buy out competition. People praise this guy like he's a hero, yet he was on the same round table as Don Mattrick. It's just that people are so dense and fell for MS making Mattrick the scapegoat. When the future is mostly live service junk that comes out half baked so they can make their money from the back end, people can thank MS and Phil for it.
Re: PlayStation Reiterates God of War Ragnarok 2022 Release Date
I'd say Summer. Sony usually doesn't bother with major Winter releases since that time period is usually flooded with AAA 3rd party games.
