Re: Hello Games Urges Those with Early Copies of No Man's Sky Not to Play

meppi64

@WasabiPeanut
That I certainly understand. And you are right.
But developers have been taken this to the extreme these last couple of years.
If it's just some last minute balance updates for the multiplayer part of the game after an extensive beta test, I'd understand.
But those kinds of day 1 patches are hardly ever reality.
Games get shoved out the door to hit a certain deadline, mostly due to the publisher needing the developer to hit a certain date.
And in the time it takes for the game to pass through certification, get pressed and shipped to retailers, they hope to work out all the kinks.
You can still play all those NES/SNES games perfectly fine today, even though the games haven't been supported for 20-30 years.
But what will happen with a large part of the games that we buy today in 20-30 years time as the servers that support them go offline or the content is no longer available? They will be an unplayable mess.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Ditch PS3, Vita Support for PlayStation Plus?

meppi64

I can understand thinking of dropping the PS3. By the end of the year the PS4 will be 3 years old already.
But dropping the Vita would be way too soon.
There is still ton of life in the system and lots of smaller developers keep supporting them, especially since the player base is bordering on the fanatical at times.
Heck, just look at what's coming up http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1164968&page=1

Re: Review: Gal*Gun: Double Peace (PS4)

meppi64

Not that it means much, but personally I'd give it 2 points extra just to show appreciation for PQube for releasing a Physical Vita game in Europe.
Wish it was a different game though.

Re: Get Your First Glimpse of Gutsy Berserk PS4 Gameplay

meppi64

@whywai88
Nah, KoeiTecmo and Omega Force don't do that kinda stuff.
You're thinking of Ubisoft.

Just looking at how even Dynasty Warriors 8 on PS4 looked a couple of years ago, and seeing how far their engine has come with Samurai Warriors and Dragon Quest, all the gameplay seen in game can easily be realtime.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Returns to Top Spot Despite Distinct Lack of New Games

meppi64

@Feena likewise.
I used to buy all kinds of weird side games to the ones I really loved.
I even got Grandia Parallel Trippers on the Game Boy Colour.
For Lunar for instance, not only did I get the PSone US import, but also the MegaCD ones, Lunar – Sanposuru Gakuen for the Game Gear and Magical School Lunar for the saturn.
Heck I was even crazy enough to buy Sakura Taisen Steam Radio Show on the Saturn back in the day at full price and enjoy it!

Oh and Panzer Dragoon Mini for the Game Gear, but that one wasn't good at all...

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Returns to Top Spot Despite Distinct Lack of New Games

meppi64

@JaxonH
Oh I love my PS4 and 3DS as well! Even bought a Japanese 3DS last year also to play Japanese exclusives.
I'd really I've a 128GB Vita memory card myself as I've already filled up 2 64GB ones... One with retail games and a second one with most of my indie games, PSP and PSone games. But they don't all fit on that one.
I really need to get a 3rd one, one of these days, but I need to spends a bit less as I just bought a house last year.

One thing I have been doing is buying retail Vita games whenever possible, wether that means grabbing US copies of games that don't come out at retail in Europe. Or even hunt down Asian English releases which can be tough to find.
Glad I came across heavy-arm.com, a little shop from Malasia which does regular restocks on these hard to find games and posts on their Twitter when they come in.
So far I've grabbed Soul Sacrifice Delta, Gundam Breaker 3 and Oreshika from them. With Samurai Warriors 4-2, final fantasy X2 and even Alienation on PS4 on its way to me now.
This really helps to free up some space on my cards.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Returns to Top Spot Despite Distinct Lack of New Games

meppi64

@Feena
It's funny how things tend to turn out sometimes.
I always have had a thing for the underdog ever since I fell in love with the Saturn at the time nearly everyone was down on it. Then the Dreamcast and nowadays it's the Vita. It's bittersweet I guess.
It also means that I'm much more likely to pick up games on release for the system now, like I just did with Gundam Breaker 3, Gand Kingdom and Reginleiv in 2 days.

BTW Speaking of the Saturn, I love your avatar. Bought the Japanese Saturn version of Grandia before it ever was announced for the west on the PSone.
Gor Grandia Digital museum and played through them with a printed out faq so I could follow the story. Same with Sakura Taisen.
I miss those days...

Re: Review: Trials of the Blood Dragon (PS4)

meppi64

Sheesh, this is so disappointing.
The writing was on the wall though. Trials HD and Evolution were brilliant, yet with Fusion, which was still tons of fun in it's own way, they started to dilute the game with lots of meaningless modes.
Trying to offer diversity, yet adding little of worth.
I was on the verge of picking this up instantly as it popped up on the store, but when watching Bob Mackey steam the game, it became clear that there was a ton of awful stuff thrown into what was once a top series.
Heck some of this stuff has garbage level gameplay that even iOS fans would scoff at. Goddamnit Ubisoft, do you really have to mess everything up?

Re: E3 2016: Sony's Shuhei Yoshida Can't Wait for Zelda Either

meppi64

@get2sammyb Well they did take out all the towns and NPC's besides the one old man you meet for this E3 demo.
The point of this was to make sure nothing could be spoiled when it comes to the plot.
So the only thing we were able to see at this point was overall world design and gameplay systems.
I wouldn't worry about the whole world being empty, although it's quite clear something significant happened in the time period between this and the previous Legend.

Re: Holy Remaster, Batman! Return to Arkham Revealed for PS4

meppi64

Seems a bit disappointing from a graphical standpoint.
These have to be 60fps/1080p right?
Cause I certainly don't see anything measuring up the The Last of Us/Tomb Raider remasters right here.
More like Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs, which is still okay I guess, but certainly not impressive.

Re: Persona 5 Continues to Look like the Most Stylish Game Ever Made

meppi64

@JoeBlogs Well I certainly would buy it again as well.
As long as it's on a Japanese system, I'm fine as I buy all the ones that Sony and Nintendo release anyway. Stopped giving MS money after the 360 and really don't miss them at all. Certainly not with Cave not making MS exclusive shoot 'em up ports anymore.

But Bayonetta 2 development was payed for my Nintendo, so it's a long shot to say the least. Unless they dump their hardware plans altogether and create a partnership with Sony. Which is a longshot in and of itself.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy an Upgraded PS4K?

meppi64

@Flaming_Kaiser
It all depends on what kind of display you really want. Heck, my latest 65" plasma cost nearly 4000€...
Fantastic screen though, both for films and games, but that shouldn't be a surprise I guess.

Anyway, I say bring on the PS4K. I'll be there day one and I don't plan to buy a 4K tv within the next 5 years or so.
I just want it for better graphical performance as well as better framerate.

One thing Sony should take into account is that they need an easier option to increase your storage. Heck if Nintendo and MS can implement an external HDD solution, it can't be that hard for them as well.
I have a 2TB one in mine right now and I'd love to have a 4TB option, which at this point isn't possible. Having to delete games to get new ones on there as well as needing to redownload all the patches and DLC for the games that you want to reinstall later on is way too much trouble.

Re: Rumour: PS4K Will Cost $399, Will Feature 4K Blu-ray, and Will Boast Better Graphics

meppi64

@Tekken179 not to mention quicker load times, download speeds, snappier OS and fps improvements in quite q few games. Hyrule Warriors being the latest example.
The DSlite had my favourite form factor of the DS line and the DSiXL sure felt great with the large screens.
Al in all, I tend to go for upgdated systems anyway, so I don't have a problem with this at all.
Not even interested in the 4K part at all since I bought the final high end release of panasonic's plasma line last year, so I'm good for another couple of years at least.
But the performance improvements and more chance of 1080p 60fps games certainly justifies it for me personally.
I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

Re: Store Update: 29th March 2016 (Europe)

meppi64

@Dan_ozzzy189
That's one of the things that I really miss so much about this generation, as well as the past one. The classic compilations. During the PS2 years there were tons of them with every single one of them being worthwhile in their own right. Jay Rignall posted a great articles about this very thing a couple of months ago: http://www.usgamer.net/articles/The-Best-Arcade-Machine-is-Your-PlayStation%202
Nintendo at least has the Virtual Console, although those tend to stick with the tried and true releases.
I wish we'd get a ton more arcade games. The whole Cave catalogue would be great to have on the PS4 for instance, even though I have every single PS2 and 360 import from them already.

Re: Hardware Review: How to Extend Your PS4 Controller's Battery Life

meppi64

If it wouldn't add bulk to the controller, I'd be all over this as the regular battery life is the worst part of an otherwise great controller.
As it stands, I'll wait for a battery pack that fits into the regular space.
Sadly, those knock-offs on eBay and such are absolute crap and only last as long as the original.

Re: There's a Way to Play Gundam Breaker 3 in English This April

meppi64

@ShogunRok
Well that's certainly something to look forward to then!
I'll just do what I always do with EDF games for instance and grab the Japanese version, or Asian one in this case. And if it turns out that it gets a EU release, I'll grab that one again later on and replay the game.

When you get your copy, be sure to check out all the different weapon possibilities, even the unarmed fighting style as each one of these makes the gameplay very unique to one another, a bit like a fighting game or a musou game to some extent.
It's a good idea to save several builds with a variety of fighting styles so that you can test them all out and see which ones really click with you.

Re: There's a Way to Play Gundam Breaker 3 in English This April

meppi64

Already had the Japanese version pre-ordered as soon as it went up, but I'm thinking about grabbing the English version as it would make the building part go a little smoother, not to mention quicker for me.
Wondering if we'll see this one in Europe eventually...
It would be about time since the first two are some of my favourite PS3/Vita games.

Re: Final Fantasy XV's Looking Freakin' Rad on PS4

meppi64

Looks great but why is this even called Final Fantasy? :-/
If they wanted to put the name in there for marketing reasons, they should have gone with Final Fantasy Revengeance, at least that would have made a bit more sense.
