Re: Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King Officially Announced

makoshichi

It seems we've been ushered into a new era of creativity void and finally started remaking mediocre games. Alladin is effin' great on both platforms but The Lion King? Really? I've never heard of anyone who was too big on this game (despite the franchise being huge, particularly at the time)

Also, one of the few games in my whole life to give me a migrane.

Re: E3 2019: Square Enix Wants Its Entire Library to Be Digital, But Can't Always Find the Code

@belmont For III and IV they should use the DS/Steam versions, I think the PSP port of IV is kinda weird. I did a little experiment a while back where I played 4 versions of FFIV at the same time. If you set the ATB speed to max in the PSP version, the game goes all crazy and you can basically Darkness your way through until Cecil repents and turns into a Paladin. Even though you can't run in the SNES FFIV, I thought the PSP version to be the weakest out of them all due to that problem

Re: Talking Point: Is E3 Still Relevant?

makoshichi

I was actually talking about this with a co-worker on Monday, we all know its relevance has sure diminished in this day and age because of the internet and all, but E3 is like Christmas for gamers, it is a big event you wait for every year, and there's a 50-50 chance you'll end up disappointed.

Not me though, not this year, FFVIIR was in it so hell yeah!

Re: Shenmue III Delayed to November 2019

makoshichi

Shenmue I & II remake proved that the series is very niche indeed, so I don't think pushing it back to November will effectively hurt Shenmue III sales (because Death Stranding). And that gives me a little more time to clear my backlog and get to said remake before this installment actually comes out

Re: Extended Death Stranding Footage Shows Giant Tentacle Foe

@tomassi
MGSV was pretty boring and regardless of what popular opinion says, marred with bad decisions that make no sense (his excuse for replacing David Hayter with Keith Sutterland was nothing short of baffling). Huge empty open world, Snake was a frikkin bullet-sponge and even base management gets boring after a while. I also have my reasons to truly dislike MGS2. With that said, I'm stocked for Death Stranding. What that makes me? Kojima lover? Worshipper?

I think people who use MGSV as a comparison basis to what DS might be will be deeply disappointed. Whether it is a good thing for them or not

"but they seem to demand a high level of skill, which may be problematic for casual or younger players"

A lot of the problems with modern video games can be traced back to when needing skills to play became something "problematic". Remember F-Zero GX? Oh well..

Anyway, I found the first All-Stars Racing way too easy, the Team mechanics in this one might make things more interesting. I will get it once the price drops

Re: Man of Medan Is the Until Dawn Sequel You've Been Dreaming Of

makoshichi

@nessisonett I bought my PS3 along with Heavy Rain and I honestly thought my dualshock was broken for a couple of minutes, but once you get the hang of it, the controls are not bad. I'd go as far as saying that they fit the style.

As for voice acting, apart from the tiresomely mocked "Jason, Jason!" bit, I take no issue with it as well.

Re: Man of Medan Is the Until Dawn Sequel You've Been Dreaming Of

makoshichi

All characters in Until Dawn are basically a-holes, save for a couple that towards the end rise up to the challenge of being likable. I just wanted everybody to die after a while. And I'll be damned, mostly everyone did die in my solo playthrough, something that I avoided completely in both Heavy Rain and Detroit. I think it might be easier to live than dying in those games, but they definitely have better people and/or androids.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Still Be an Episodic Release

makoshichi

People thinking the installments will cover strictly the discs from the original release are in for a surprise. Disc 3 is basically North Cave and side-quests, does it sound like a full-game's length for you? I believe disc one will be an extended Midgar up until facing JENOVA in the boat heading towards Costa del Sol, they won't be able to cram content in it up to Aerith's death. The next split will happen right after the first time into the North Cave, having Cloud lost in the lifestream by the end. Part 3 would be perfect to flesh out the remaining party even further up to the game conclusion. Those look like decent chunks of the original split into 3 if you consider that the bulkier part of its plot transpires during disc 1.
