Who doesn’t love a good teenage slasher? In many ways, the outstanding Until Dawn out-Quantic Dreamed the actual Quantic Dream, so it’s hard not to get excited for Supermassive Games’ forthcoming Dark Pictures Anthology. First up is Man of Medan, a standalone supernatural horror set in the South Pacific.
We played a huge chunk of this last year and came away very enthusiastic about it, but if you want a look at the latest build, then Game Informer has put together just over 10 minutes of all-new footage which is well worth a watch. Which characters will you be keeping alive come launch later this year? Make a difficult decision in the comments section below.

ooooh can't wait!!
Was wondering what was going on with this the other day actually. Looking forward to it.
I agree, Until Dawn provides a far more polished experience than anything Quantic Dream’s produced. Honestly, I find it difficult to play Heavy Rain seriously as it’s just so janky and the voice acting’s hilarious.
I hope we get a release date soon. I’m really excited to play this one after loving Until Dawn.
Still don't understand how this is gonna be released. Is it eposodic?
All characters in Until Dawn are basically a-holes, save for a couple that towards the end rise up to the challenge of being likable. I just wanted everybody to die after a while. And I'll be damned, mostly everyone did die in my solo playthrough, something that I avoided completely in both Heavy Rain and Detroit. I think it might be easier to live than dying in those games, but they definitely have better people and/or androids.
@nessisonett I bought my PS3 along with Heavy Rain and I honestly thought my dualshock was broken for a couple of minutes, but once you get the hang of it, the controls are not bad. I'd go as far as saying that they fit the style.
As for voice acting, apart from the tiresomely mocked "Jason, Jason!" bit, I take no issue with it as well.
@makoshichi Those kids man, those kids. AgentNahmanJaydenFBI was pretty funny too.
@RoyalGuard Yes. As much as it pains me, I'll wait until we got the full anthology and the eventual physical release.
Really enjoyed Until Dawn, so I'm looking forward to this. Going to do my usual trick of trying to keep everyone alive and failing miserably.
Im absolutely shocked its not out yet. This game was announced last year at e3.This is supposed to be 4 hours long, yet here we are 1 year later. How long would this company take to make an assassins creed game,15 years, lol!
@Athrum looks like there is a physical release for this episode on gamestop, best buy for 30$
@nessisonett In all fairness, Heavy Rain is an older game than Until Dawn. But comparing Until Dawn to Detroit would be a very different story in terms of polish.
@nessisonett absolutely hated my time with Heavy Rain. That's coming from someone who loves telltale and the old lucas arts adventure games.
Mundane and archaic.
Didn't watch much as don't want to spoil it but looks good.
Hopeful this will be a return to form like Until Dawn rather than some of Supermassive's so-so recent efforts. Fingers crossed it hits the sweet spot on pricing given their shorter stories/choices approach to push this series out faster.
These games are fun to watch, but not something I would buy and play, because I don't think they don't have much depth compared to games like Detroit, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Not that you have to choose of-course, you are allowed to like more than one or two things (in theory).
The focus of Until Dawn or Medan is not to tell a story, unlike Quantic's stuff, it's about the gore and survivalism, where the story or setting doesn't really matter. There's also a different emphasis in the types of choices you make: in Quantic's games the emphasis is on forcing the player make moral or ethical choices. That's not the case with Until Dawn, where the emphasis was on making choices that would keep your favourite characters alive.
Loved Until Dawn, it was an under appreciated gem. That damn jump-scare with Chris & Ashley, holy hell. This certainly doesn't seem to have the same level of polish (I know there's still time for release) but will probably pick it up at some point.
@RoyalGuard They are going to release 2 episodes a year the first 2 years. Then one longer experience the third year for a total of 5. Each episode will have different characters and deal with different sub genres of horror. The only recurring character will be the curator. Who is kind of like the the psychologist from Until Dawn. Someone who introduces each story and talks about your choices. The developers said there would be clues about future episodes in each of the earlier ones.
i liked until dawn, but i thought detroit become human was better. i felt massively guilty allowing kara and alice to die in my second playthrough for the platinum (they did make freedom in my main playthrough), because i felt the bond between them just made you want them to survive.. i thought that story arc was better than marcus' to be honest. losing a character in until dawn never seemed to have that much impact.
