Re: PSN Alone Generated More Revenue Than the Entirety of Nintendo in 2018

makoshichi

I love PSN but dude, it's like fanboys' den here. The title could easily have said "Sony CRUSHED Nintendo this year" and I can see the hypothetical tears of joy in the eyes of that one dude with the Sora avatar.

Kids find it so important that "their company" is "winning" only to justify their choice, as they usually don't have means to own more than one console. I mean yeah, I used to feel the same in the good old days of the bit wars, but now, even though I only own a PS4, I would not like to see Nintendo failing, or "quitting the console race", as haters like to put it. Nintendo games are (usually) superb but unfortunatelly (for them) they're too arrogant to make as many good calls as Sony does. And that seals the deal.

@rjejr
You just like to be "that guy", don't you? I mean, I agree with your badly received shipped vs sold argument but then you go and say something like this:

" And even their [MS] core business, Windows PCs, have been falling off a cliff. And Chromebooks may be outselling Windows PCs at this point."

Have it, really? And what's competing with it? Ubuntu for home users? Are companies employing Linux left and right and I myself, as a software developer, am unaware of that? And what is that? Chromebooks may be outs... Ah, screw it, it's not worth the time.

Re: Death Stranding Will 'Push Boundaries' Says Control Dev Remedy Entertainment

makoshichi

It is about time for someone to do something different. I honestly cannot stand 3D games anymore. They give you a sandbox, a laundry list, an effing arrow to point to your goal and off you go. Again and again. Effortlessly. Mindlessly. Lately I'm having fun almost exclusively from the plethora of outstanding 2D platformers available on the PSN. And some PSVR here and there. So, gambare, Kojima-san. Go and do something wonderfully weird.

Re: Guerrilla Games Speechless Over 'Masterful' Death Stranding Demo

makoshichi

I honestly didn't like MGSV barren wasteland and bullet-sponge Snake (so much so that I just gave up on the game around the 60h mark), but I love the Metal Gear series for its better installments. I also wasn't really feeling the hype for Horizon back in the day but ended up being blown away by it, so in the end this article just reassures me that I can sleep tight as my anticipation for Death Stranding will pay off. I haven't waited this eagerly for a game in too many years to count

Re: Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition - Still One of the Very Best Tales Games

makoshichi

Out of the Tales series I have only played Symphonia, and that game beats the crap out of these weeboo wet dreams of late. Save a few exceptions, modern JRPGs are becoming unbearable. Not only I'm getting older, the current target audience for this games is turning out to be a lot weirder too. With all that said, Symphonia felt like a classic, true JRPG the way they used to make them back in the good old days, I skipped Vesperia on the 360 but I'll make sure to pick it up this time around.

Re: Feature: Which Upcoming PS4 Exclusives Will Release in 2019?

makoshichi

Pretty excited about Death Stranding. We may not know much about the game itself but that is the best part about it, hopefully we're getting something that feels fresh (much like BotW) instead of derivative (like 90% of the games these days do). Too bad last time Kojima tried something other than Metal Gear we ended up with ZoE, which is boring and repetitive. Regardless, I still have high hopes for this game.

Re: Guide: New PS4 Games Releasing in January 2019

makoshichi

I have only played the first KH game way over 10 years ago but "Simple and Clean" insists in getting stuck in my mind whenever anyone mentions the series. I wish I could just play the first two games so I can jump into the hype bandwagon but noooo! Nomura and Squenix had to dish out one of these every other year with increasingly stupid names, making it impossible to just pick one up and play.

For that, I'll stick only with RE2 next month.

Re: The Much Requested Raimi Suit Is Available Now in Spider-Man PS4

makoshichi

As a Spider-Man fan since I was born (and I was born in the neon 1980s, kids), I don't really care for this suit, or those movies for that matter. They were good for what they were at their own time, but ever since the MCU kicked off, Raimi's movies became simply dated. Fingers-crossed for a sequel based on the classic black suit!

Re: Spider-Man PS4 Dev Pushes Back Against Fan Criticisms Regarding DLC

makoshichi

It must be pretty though to be a game developer in the age of twitter. Teams cannot fulfill their vision as every nobody feels "entitled" to "demand" what they want in any given game. I liked Inmsoniac stance, even more so that this is just a piece of suit we're talking about. Listening to fans may derail whole games...
