Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Amazon vs. Arishok

kensredemption

The Arishok, hands down.

The Qunari are not easily swayed by women, as was evident from Sten's behavior in Dragon Age: Origins. Morrigan was the only one to wear him down with her constant bombardment of innuendo. Leliana did kind of get him to admit to having a sensitive side, but he remained blunt nonetheless.

The Arishok, on the other hand, wasn't very easy to please - let alone earn his respect as either a male or female Hawke. He'd still try to cleave you regardless of whether or not you earned it, contingent on whether or not you try to save Isabela from him.

This isn't a gender issue, but trying to wear him down with poisons, daggers and sex appeal won't work.

Re: Sony's Relying on Strong PS4 Numbers to Help Drive Its Network Services

kensredemption

As a rule of thumb, I've decided not to get too hyped up about anything new. Watch_Dogs and Thief have proven to be lackluster, and the PS4 and XBO both have been riddled with hardware and software issues. I don't have high expectations for anything "next-gen" anymore since the experiences I have on my Wii U and PS4 are virtually the same as they were last-gen, just faster. All I can hope for now are great games and an innovative cross-platform service that'll connect Nintendo Network, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live users together on a single game. I know it's a long shot, but it won't feel like gaming has reached the true next generation until they implement something revolutionary. I'm not counting virtual reality since that concept barely seemed like a step up from motion gaming, and to try and implement this so soon after the arrival of next-gen consoles seems little more to me than a blatant cash grab. Unless they figure out a way to make it work in tandem with last-gen motion controllers...

Re: Blimey, Half of All PS4 Users Are Subscribed to PlayStation Plus

kensredemption

I would've preferred it if Sony left PS+ as an optional service when it comes to online multiplayer. It makes me feel like I'm having to pay more to fully access the games I would play. Like, you'd already have to pay $65~ just to get a game like KZ:SF and then an additional $9~ a month to play it online. I mean sure, it comes with it's perks like discounts on the store and free games every once in awhile, but they're slim pickings in my region. EU and JP PS Stores get earlier discounts on AAA titles, while the US store seems to worship indies more often than not.

Re: Reaction: Xbox One's PS4 Impersonation Improves with Kinect Reversal

I imagined myself being happier to learn that the XBO will lag behind the Wii U and PS4 both this generation, but...I actually feel pretty bad for them. Dropping the price on the hardware is one thing, but they still don't have games and you'd still need a premium subscription for things that the Wii U and PS4 generally have for free. It's like they're holding their breath now...hope they don't drown.

I try not to be a presumptuous prick like most gamers seem to be these days, making their judgements about a game based on let's play videos with players who may or may not have extensive knowledge about it in any way whatsoever. I'll try it before I make my decision.

Re: Rumour: BioWare Shepards the Mass Effect Trilogy onto PS4

kensredemption

I already played the trilogy on the PS3 and sunk over 400 hours into the game through replays, completion runs and platinum trophy farming. I'm not up for it again. The only next-gen console that NEEDS the ME trilogy is the Wii U. Much as I love the Ladon - a Reaper Blackstar and Hydra love child - I wanted to be able to explore the myriad of relationships and decisions without having to feel hyper-competitive and completionistic because of the stupid time stamps on trophies and my online profile. I wanted to see Conrad Verner on the ME3 SE, but no, EA has to act all high and mighty and treat Nintendo and Sony both like second-class citizens.

Re: Here's How Renting Games with PlayStation Now Will Work

kensredemption

Uh...about that Saint's Row screenshot...

I was under the impression that PS Now was streaming the games exclusively, so why would it take up any hard drive space at all? Unless Sony's just planning to port the digital copies of PS3 games to the Store? In which case, why don't they just add that tab onto the PS Store? I'm just speculating here, but I'm under the impression that there's some miscommunication here.

Re: You May Get a Discount on The Last of Us PS4 if You Own the PS3 Game

@sinalefa If physical adopters pay more, they'll be compensated accordingly. For instance, those who bought the digital collector's edition of Final Fantasy XIV only have access to the game and digital vanity items. Those who bought the physical copy will get the same, plus artwork, soundtrack AND security token. Was it worth $30 more? You bet your ass it was. I saved what was potentially another $50 easily by having all of that bundled together. Meanwhile, digital adopters only have the game - and that particular purchase may or may not even be transferable to the next generation of consoles. Having a discount for the digital version is only fair. They're already paying full retail price, minus state taxes.

It really irks me that developers don't list these games on the PlayStation Store at cost. I mean, they just put the game up on a server - all of it data which can be physically compressed in an infinite number of ways - and they never have to print written material or produce any cases or discs. If anything, I'd pay for a digital copy of a game if it were $15-20 less than retail price.
