Sony clearly understands the importance of Minecraft, as it’s confirmed that the PlayStation 4 and Vita editions of the build-‘em-up will also receive a physical release. Yesterday, the company attached a May deploy date to the boxed version of the popular PlayStation 3 game, but it seems equally eager to get the next-gen versions of the title onto store shelves.
There’s no word on a release date for the upcoming editions, but series overlord Mojang stresses that they’re coming along well. Late last week, port house 4J Studios uploaded a photograph showing off the unreleased iterations of the brick laying game.

This is getting on my tits now!, why can't they just give us a release date rather than keep showing teaser pictures! I'am on the other hand happy that the game will be coming to disk form as I like disks better than download copies
Will be picking up a PS4 copy and possibly a couple PS Vita copies for my GF and I.
Still baffled by the popularity of it, but kids like it and it gives them a break from running around in CoD screaming that they want to f*ck peoples mums into their mics....better they calm down and play MineCraft.
how long does it take to put basically port a game to another console? mojang just seems lazy, oh well. i'll get minecraft for each system like usual.
@Munkyknuts I've got four daughters, the eldest plays rpgs and lots in Nintendo stuff, but my second who isn't really fussed on games in general bloody LOVES it. Like, since playing it for the first time ever 2 months ago is now completely obsessed LOVES it. It must tickle certain parts of the brain, I'm sure of it. I don't mind it, but I won't sit there and play it continuously or anything. Bizarre.
I don't really care whether it gets a physical release or not - I just want the damn game.
I never thought I'd see the day when Minecraft was a physical game for PS Vita...
The one thing that Xbox fans had to brag about.... Is coming to the Vita How ironic.
It's dragged on a bit but I'm still going to buy it again on ps4. It's only 15 quid on ps3 and id utd thé same again on ps4. No one is really going to grudge paying again for a game with limitless hours of game play
I'll be getting the vita version and the ps4 version, holding off on the ps3 version as the ps4 one will have bigger maps and I reckon the vita version will be the same as the ps3 version anyway
If I can play this with my cousins and nephews across the PS3, PSV and PS4 I'll get it.
Question is, how much are they going to charge? If they pull a $39.99 for Vita and $59.99 for PS4, they're out of their minds. How much does this game sell for digitally, like ten-fifteen bucks?
I really don't see the appeal of building stuff with digital blocks (this really is the TRUE Lego game), but you know kids love it. Shoot, just look at how much this game has sold- kids like using their creativity and imaginations. This game allows them to do exactly that. Still, as a collector I'll probably end up grabbing the Vita version just because, well, I would feel the library was incomplete without it.
PS4 release date, release date, release date? Perhaps if I say it enough?
@JaxonH ShopTo in the UK currently have pre-orders for the physical copies of the PS4 version (£18.85) and the Vita version (£16.85) so it'll probably have a similarly low-ish price Stateside.
I must admit I don't really get Minecraft but at the same time I only really had a short crack at the 360 demo and it just didn't really grab me. I might be tempted to give it another shot at some point though as I do kinda feel like I'm missing out on something
I don't understand the popularity of this game.
This is great news, ps4 please!
I for one am happy about this, i will probally ask for the PS3 disc version on my Birthday (may 1st is that day) and i will be getting it for my Vita
