The Team Behind Beloved Action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan No Longer Exists 1

The First Berserker: Khazan made a solid impression last year with its neat visual style and hefty, Souls-like gameplay, but it seems the game didn't quite measure up for publisher Nexon, as it's apparently disbanded the team that made it.

The staff at developer Neople, which produced the action RPG, have all been moved onto other projects; they're still employed within Nexon, but they're no longer working on the game as a unit.

This comes from Korean outlet Yonhap News, reporting on a statement from the publisher.

It's unclear what will happen to Khazan or any plans for a follow-up.

This development follows news that the game didn't meet sales expectations, but Nexon viewed it as a success in terms of establishing the Dungeon & Fighter series for a Western audience.

It has echoed this sentiment on more than one occasion, asserting that Khazan has been an important first step in widening the reach of Dungeon & Fighter.

Even so, it seems the staff behind the game are no longer working on it. Hopefully more detail comes to light on exactly why this decision was made, but at the very least, no one appears to be out of work.
