Update []: Silent Hill: Townfall did indeed appear in the State of Play livestream, and a PS5 release date of 24th September 2026 has been confirmed. You can watch the latest trailer above.

Simon Ordell is called back to the island of St. Amelia to ‘put things right’, encountering a town lying quiet beneath a heavy fog, seemingly abandoned but not at rest. Venturing deeper, and driven to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, Simon begins to discover fragments of a past rising to the surface.

Original Story: Ahead of today's State of Play livestream, Silent Hill: Townfall has picked up its official ESRB age rating on the board's official website. This could suggest the indie take on the Konami horror series will receive an update tonight, potentially including a final PS5 release date.

The game has received a Mature (M) rating for blood, strong language, and violence. A description provides a brief outline of the story, which you can read on the website, and also touches on some of the gory scenes featured in Townfall. Apparently, there'll be a "close-up depiction of a character stabbing a body" and "a man being eaten by a monster" during the campaign.

Silent Hill: Townfall is releasing only on PS5 and PC, so today's State of Play showcase is the most likely destination for any news. During the last State of Play in February, Sony committed a whole portion of the livestream to Konami, where it highlighted Townfall as well as Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.

Off the back of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill F, I can't wait for more from the franchise. Silent Hill: Townfall, with its Scottish setting, looks to be shaping up nicely, so I'll be eagerly anticipating the game once we have a confirmed launch date. The chances it's announced tonight seem pretty high.
