@AdamNovice That's absolutely insane for 62. Just make sure it's the Game One and not the Game Zero which looks similar. Yeah, just try them out and return them if you don't like them but I don't think you will unless you don't like the open back design. Once I went open back, I never looked back. It's so nice to get immersed but still be able to hear your voice, so you're not shouting into the mic. And the open back design makes for so much more spacious feeling, it just sounds so much more natural. There's also a short 1.2 m cable included right away for use with controller which is the perfect length.
I have used mine with an amplifier which got a little more out of them in terms of quality but if you're looking for a simple plug and play solution with great sound in that price range, there's simply no contest for me. The open back design alone seals the deal here.
If you don't happen to like it and want to be more closed off, I'd say the HyperX Cloud is still a solid choice as a closed back alternative.
@AdamNovice at Amazon in the UK, the Sennheiser Game One is on sale right now for 82. The PC37X is the same thing but in all black but more expensive right now. This is a steal. They punch way above their weight and are even considered a gateway into audiophile territory. The microphone is outstanding, too. Also, they have low impedance, so the Dualsense will drive them perfectly, they can get really loud if you want to. This is especially important when driven through the Dualsense that there's overhead. A lot of quality headphones have high impedance and don't get loud enough. A nice comfort feature of them is that the mic auto mutes when you flip it up. Lastly, they have a master volume wheel on the right earcup for on the fly adjustment.
However, they are open back. In case you don't know, that means that they leak volume. So if someone's with you in the room that doesn't want to be disturbed, they are not well-suited. Also, you can hear stuff around you if loud enough. A good example would be your doorbell but it's not like you can hear everything. Hard to explain. As long as you're not living next to a very busy road or you have over the top neighbours, these would be my ideal recommendation. The open back design will give you exceptional imaging and soundstage for the price. Wireless headsets, even around 300 don't even come close to them in terms of sheer audio fidelity. They are super comfy as well as soon as the earpads are broken in. Usually takes
few days only. And despite fragile looking, extremely durable and replacement earpads are cheap, easy to install and can be bought seperately. I'm still using mine from 2015 as good ole reliable. Fantastic cans for the price. Hope that helps
@AdamNovice how do you want to connect them? Via 3.5 mm jack directly into the Dualsense? Do you need a microphone attached to it or are headphones enough? Do you need noise isolation or are you playing in a quiet environment? Sorry for all the questions but I want to give you a solid suggestion.
@get2sammyb It's more about wireless vs wired when it comes to headphones. Wireless headphones branded as gaming headsets are usually largely inferior to much cheaper wired headphones that don't have the gaming branding. I used to love the comfort of wireless gaming headsets but the second I had a quality wired set of cans on my head for half the price, there was no going back. There's only one I've tested that can go head to head with good wired ones. And it's 500 bucks.
@rusty82 My memory being trash also helps a lot, lol. I replayed the Resistance trilogy a couple of months ago and apart from what they looked like and maybe one or two setspieces, I did not remember a goddamn thing about them.
@wiiware The nice thing about Elden Ring is that it doesn't get progressively harder like some games. It's all about the skills you develop and really "getting" the mechanics. I'd argue Margit is one of the hardest bosses in the entire game at that early stage. It's always nice seeing people getting into the games and enjoying them for what they are instead of whining about how hard they are and how they have no spoon-fed story. Have you played any of the other From Software games in the genre?
Probably replaying Ratchet & Clank (2016) for the 4th or 5th time and aiming for the Platinum this time around which I never bothered to get. I don't know what happened to me over the last few years but nowadays, I'd rather replay a game I know I love instead of trying something new for the sake of it. Probaby because I got burnt too many times with games I didn't end up enjoying as much.
@Loamy Because 5 out of 40 million users reported that the fluid leaked and killed the console. At least, I remember this being a thing some time this year, just a couple of reports.
@DennisReynolds There's speculation that, while Sony owns the IP, that there's some contractual obligation that only From Software is allowed to work on patches, sequels, remakes, whatever it is. It would make sense. Sony definitely knows what they have here and I guess they would have acted much faster if they could. There has to be something. They can't be that ignorant.
I love the controller apart from the white rubber grips. Not only do they not give me any benefits haptics-wise, the potential discoloration is giving me anxiety, lol. I've seen numerous reports of it turning yellowish which hasn't happened to me yet, it's still shiny white. However, there is a tiny blue spec on it that simply won't come off. This wouldn't be an issue at all if it were plastic like the rest. I just hope I'll be able to keep it in a clean state as long as possible.
Now that I have the Edge, I'm a little "sad" that I probably won't be getting any of those fancy controllers ever again. I usually did not like the PS variants of controllers in the past and always thought Xbox did a much better job with that but that one right here...Man, this is a beauty.
@RobynAlecksys They have some of the most critically acclaimed and well-respected WRPG studios under their umbrella whereas Sony doesn't have a single one.
@Anthony_Daniels a first party WRPG studio would definitely help them with broadening their portfolio genre-wise. Xbox is heavily dominating in that sector.
@get2sammyb Yeah, I've heard that too. But as we know those are mostly best case scenarios with sound off, lowest brightness etc. That said, I don't know anymore whether that estimate was such a scenario or a more realistic one but four hours I'd be totally fine with.
I understand this will probably be for a very specific target audience only but this thing looks like it was specifically made for me, lol. However, pricing is key for me. Absolutely abysmal battery life (less than 2 hours or so) could be another dealbreaker. Will probably order it from PS Direct either way and simply return it if it doesn't live up to my needs but I'm very much interested generally.
@Shepherd_Tallon I assume he's talking about the lip service along the lines of "games that have a legacy on PS". However, I think it was intentionally vague and suggests that only the ongoing games like ESO etc. will still see support, not new entries in a series like Wolfenstein and such. That's how I read it at least. I'm not aware of a deal that includes all ABK owned IPs either.
I have a weird history with the franchise. While I very much enjoyed Zero Dawn, I didn't LOVE it. And I expected the same with Forbidden West. However, and now please don't laugh at me, I totally fell in love with FW, not only because of the world, but also due to the gyro aim option. It totally elevated the game for me and let me play it how I always imagined it. I have the platinum and roughly 150 hours in this game. There's nothing any more for me to do. Yet, I refuse to leave this world and still play it every now and then. Just wandering around taking the world in. Needless to say, I am very curious now what the future holds for the franchise.
Incredibly talented studio. I think they're in the process of establishing a new PS mascot with Astro which is an achievement in itself. Their VR game is one of my favorite games ever and I can't wait for what they're cooking.
I got my copy yesterday and just started playing. I skipped all the cutscenes in the demo as I was only curious to get a feel for the combat. I started a new game and I'm still in the demo areas but my first impression is very strong. Let's hope it'll get even better. I'm pumped.
Those idiots will make sure that I'll never get to play a game early again. I would imagine that PS will handle it similarly to Xbox in the future, so that you can't play physical copies until release day.
I didn't play it all the way through and skipped all the cutscenes as I didn't want too much of it spoiled. However, I wanted to get a feel for the combat. And I can safely say now that it was even better than I would have thought from the gameplay we've seen. Even more hyped now.

After completing FF16 this week, back to Tears of the Kingdom.
A bit of Synapse in PSVR2 on the side.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 485

For me, a little bit of Crisis Core Reunion which I finally started this week and probably starting with Synapse on PSVR2.
