Re: Physical Games Represented Just 4% of Sales for PlayStation Last Quarter

dschons

I still buy physical whenever I can but more out of pragmatic reasons these days. Every once in a while, there's a game that I end up not liking, so I can make the majority of money back quickly. Also, I always get games 2-5 days early (nice little bonus) and they are usually cheaper here.

In the past, I used to love looking at my games on the shelf and build a collection. However, that has changed over the last couple of years, it doesn't really give me anything any more. I'll probably still buy physical as long as I can for the reasons mentioned above but a digital only future certaintly won't stop me from gaming altogether. I also had no issue buying Alan Wake 2 at launch. Also, depending on how the Portal will perform, I could see myself getting annoyed with physical more and more if PS5 remote play becomes a frequent playstyle for me.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Alan Wake 2?

@Constable_What "I finished it, only have 1 trophy to get, but I missed something and I'm locked out."

I feel your pain. I missed literally one beep . I wasn't even going for the Plat and saw it after the fact. Now it annoys me, lol.

As for the question: Rock solid 9 from me. If it wasn't for some of the Alan sections, could have been a 10.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

dschons

When I'm trying to be as objective as possible 9/10. On a personal note, I'd give it an 8/10, simply due to the fact that I am not too much into the whole super heroes thing in general. But it is hard to deny that this is a high quality game. I simply hope Insomniac won't turn into a Marvel only studio.

Re: US Retail Giant Best Buy Allegedly Binning Physical Media

dschons

It's the same in Europe with my local Best Buy equivalent we have here. Years ago, they stopped selling physical Xbox games but the PS and Nintendo selection was still pretty big. Now, they only maybe have 4 or 5 of the top sellers to choose from. Just a matter of time.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

dschons

@Supergunshot Yeah, I think it is because I have no personal attachment to the character. I haven't read the comics as a kid like many people have. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the games for what they were but not because of the character which adds additional enjoyment for those who grew up with Spider-Man. I think all this super hero stuff is a bit "childish" for the lack of a better word with the spider suit and all that. Maybe I enjoyed Infamous more because it was a bit more grounded in that sense.

@Shepherd_Tallon

"in the end I didn't even know what I liked to play anymore." Man, that hit home for me. Totally the same for me!

"but if that doesn't release this year I think I'll just play Uncharted 4 on my Portal all day while I watch Christmas movies."

Jesus Christ, I'm imagining it in my head and now I wanna do that, too. LOL!

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real

dschons

@Shepherd_Tallon oh yes, those were the days. As a consequence, this Christmas, instead of playing something new for the sake of it, I'll be replaying FF7 Remake Intergrade in preparation for February. I'd rather replay a game I know I love as opposed to experiencing something new that is only mildly interesting. Time well spent has become my top currency when it comes to gaming. This used to be very much different when I tried to experience as many games as I possibly could.

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real

dschons

@Shepherd_Tallon this is me nowadays. Over the last couple of years, I have played less and less games overall, but the ones I (re)played, I squeezed every drop out of. So much more satisfying. I guess I have learnt to be ok with not playing everything, even if it appeals to me.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

dschons

I'm not the biggest fan of superhero games, especially those with comic characters, and I have no idea why because I absolutely love Infamous, for example. Still, I'm somehow looking forward to it as I had fun with the previous ones. But I'm not overly hyped about it

Re: Xbox Boss Praises 'Fierce Leader' Jim Ryan Following News of PlayStation CEO's Retirement

@Tomato_Goose Nothing if it were earnest. If the leaked e-mails have shown anything, then that corporate representatives should not be trusted with their public narratives. That goes for both sides. Spencer can claim all he wants that he's the shining knight that cares about nothing but the games industry when all he really wants is what his corporate overlords dictate. That said, I do not doubt that he wishes him well but that "gaming industry" as focal point is part of his spiel, just like the "crying" is for Jim.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Slashes Through 10 Million Copies Sold

When I first completed this game, I was 100 percent sure I'd never play it again since Isshin gave me such a hard time. Then I replayed it a couple of years later and something simply clicked to an extent it hasn't before. Now, I can basically rush through the game without any major difficulties and I can't exactly point my finger on what it was that made me "get the combat". The exact same thing happened to me with Returnal, although this one is much more dependent on multiple factors due to the randomly generated nature pertaining to weapons and such.
