Re: US Retail Giant Best Buy Allegedly Binning Physical Media

dschons

It's the same in Europe with my local Best Buy equivalent we have here. Years ago, they stopped selling physical Xbox games but the PS and Nintendo selection was still pretty big. Now, they only maybe have 4 or 5 of the top sellers to choose from. Just a matter of time.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

dschons

@Supergunshot Yeah, I think it is because I have no personal attachment to the character. I haven't read the comics as a kid like many people have. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the games for what they were but not because of the character which adds additional enjoyment for those who grew up with Spider-Man. I think all this super hero stuff is a bit "childish" for the lack of a better word with the spider suit and all that. Maybe I enjoyed Infamous more because it was a bit more grounded in that sense.

@Shepherd_Tallon

"in the end I didn't even know what I liked to play anymore." Man, that hit home for me. Totally the same for me!

"but if that doesn't release this year I think I'll just play Uncharted 4 on my Portal all day while I watch Christmas movies."

Jesus Christ, I'm imagining it in my head and now I wanna do that, too. LOL!

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real

dschons

@Shepherd_Tallon oh yes, those were the days. As a consequence, this Christmas, instead of playing something new for the sake of it, I'll be replaying FF7 Remake Intergrade in preparation for February. I'd rather replay a game I know I love as opposed to experiencing something new that is only mildly interesting. Time well spent has become my top currency when it comes to gaming. This used to be very much different when I tried to experience as many games as I possibly could.

Re: The Last of Us 2 PS5 Remaster Seems to Be Real

dschons

@Shepherd_Tallon this is me nowadays. Over the last couple of years, I have played less and less games overall, but the ones I (re)played, I squeezed every drop out of. So much more satisfying. I guess I have learnt to be ok with not playing everything, even if it appeals to me.

Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

dschons

I'm not the biggest fan of superhero games, especially those with comic characters, and I have no idea why because I absolutely love Infamous, for example. Still, I'm somehow looking forward to it as I had fun with the previous ones. But I'm not overly hyped about it

Re: Xbox Boss Praises 'Fierce Leader' Jim Ryan Following News of PlayStation CEO's Retirement

dschons

@Tomato_Goose Nothing if it were earnest. If the leaked e-mails have shown anything, then that corporate representatives should not be trusted with their public narratives. That goes for both sides. Spencer can claim all he wants that he's the shining knight that cares about nothing but the games industry when all he really wants is what his corporate overlords dictate. That said, I do not doubt that he wishes him well but that "gaming industry" as focal point is part of his spiel, just like the "crying" is for Jim.

Re: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Slashes Through 10 Million Copies Sold

dschons

When I first completed this game, I was 100 percent sure I'd never play it again since Isshin gave me such a hard time. Then I replayed it a couple of years later and something simply clicked to an extent it hasn't before. Now, I can basically rush through the game without any major difficulties and I can't exactly point my finger on what it was that made me "get the combat". The exact same thing happened to me with Returnal, although this one is much more dependent on multiple factors due to the randomly generated nature pertaining to weapons and such.

Re: PS5's Remote Play Handheld PS Portal Releases on 15th November

dschons

I pre-ordered it a minute after the pre-order trailer went live. I'm all in on this thing. If it doesn't satisfy me, there's a 30 days return window which I will make use of. PS Direct seems to be very accommodating with this from what I've heard. The only dealbreaker I could see right now for me personally, is bad weight distribution. Fingers crossed.

Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?

dschons

The discourse around PS Plus has irritated me since day one honestly. I've always thought that the value proposition is good, even if the games are not for me. Guess I'm just one of three people total. Saints Row will probably actually be a game I'll look into which I rarely do.
Edit: No, I'm not talking about the price increase here. No one likes those.

Re: PS5 Designer Mark Cerny Nerds Out About New Dolby Atmos Addition

dschons

@AdamNovice Use the short cable and make sure it is properly connected with the angled plug into the Dualsense and the other one into the headset. Iiirc, it might use a bit of force on that connection until it is really in. Other than that, go into the audio settings and make sure the output is set to "all audio" instead of "voice chat (or whatever else it says there". Then make sure the headset volume in the audio settings is set to max. It should work automatically with these settings. Report back if that worked for you. If not, we'll find a solution, shouldn't be too complicated.
Have you tried the headset with your smartphone to check whether it works?

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PlayStation Portal?

dschons

Looks like this thing is tailored to my wants and needs the smartphone/controller attachment combo wasn't able to fulfill, so yeah. Day one for me. If it turns out to be bad or doesn't satisfy me, it's going back within the 30 day return window.

Re: PS Portal's Battery Life Aiming to Match PS5 Controller

dschons

@PlayStationGamer3919 Yes, and one of those two requires a ton more investments and which comes at way higher costs when failing. The other is basically just another controller. Doesn't sell? Stop production and be done with it which you can't just do with PSVR2 because you'd waste millions of dollars.
