I still buy physical whenever I can but more out of pragmatic reasons these days. Every once in a while, there's a game that I end up not liking, so I can make the majority of money back quickly. Also, I always get games 2-5 days early (nice little bonus) and they are usually cheaper here.
In the past, I used to love looking at my games on the shelf and build a collection. However, that has changed over the last couple of years, it doesn't really give me anything any more. I'll probably still buy physical as long as I can for the reasons mentioned above but a digital only future certaintly won't stop me from gaming altogether. I also had no issue buying Alan Wake 2 at launch. Also, depending on how the Portal will perform, I could see myself getting annoyed with physical more and more if PS5 remote play becomes a frequent playstyle for me.
Not only did it come very close to From Software games in the same genre for me, it also brought some fresh ideas as well. My surprise hit of the year.
@HonestHick Yeah, I can see why. As much as I love my wired cans sound-wise, sometimes I wish I would have never tried them. Because I was happy with the sound I knew and being able to walk around while still chatting to my friends. Ignorance is bliss, lol. But I simply can't go back now.
@HonestHick headphone audio is one of few areas where higher monetary value doesn't (necessarily) equal better quality. Especially with wireless gaming branded headsets where you're mostly paying for features, not for audio quality.
When I'm trying to be as objective as possible 9/10. On a personal note, I'd give it an 8/10, simply due to the fact that I am not too much into the whole super heroes thing in general. But it is hard to deny that this is a high quality game. I simply hope Insomniac won't turn into a Marvel only studio.
@HonestHick I agree, I'd rather have them not buy anything at all. But I'm afraid they will have to react in some way if things keep developing like they are at the moment.
@HonestHick I think Sony can buy pretty much whatever they want. Just not as a cash deal. Their leverage with the brand alone is huge. The issue is that borrowing money is expensive right now.
One of the games where I do not care about the rating which will most likely be butt. I grew up with point and click adventures, still love them and I have a soft spot for Christie stories.
It's the same in Europe with my local Best Buy equivalent we have here. Years ago, they stopped selling physical Xbox games but the PS and Nintendo selection was still pretty big. Now, they only maybe have 4 or 5 of the top sellers to choose from. Just a matter of time.
@Supergunshot Yeah, I think it is because I have no personal attachment to the character. I haven't read the comics as a kid like many people have. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the games for what they were but not because of the character which adds additional enjoyment for those who grew up with Spider-Man. I think all this super hero stuff is a bit "childish" for the lack of a better word with the spider suit and all that. Maybe I enjoyed Infamous more because it was a bit more grounded in that sense.
@Shepherd_Tallon oh yes, those were the days. As a consequence, this Christmas, instead of playing something new for the sake of it, I'll be replaying FF7 Remake Intergrade in preparation for February. I'd rather replay a game I know I love as opposed to experiencing something new that is only mildly interesting. Time well spent has become my top currency when it comes to gaming. This used to be very much different when I tried to experience as many games as I possibly could.
@Shepherd_Tallon this is me nowadays. Over the last couple of years, I have played less and less games overall, but the ones I (re)played, I squeezed every drop out of. So much more satisfying. I guess I have learnt to be ok with not playing everything, even if it appeals to me.
I'm not the biggest fan of superhero games, especially those with comic characters, and I have no idea why because I absolutely love Infamous, for example. Still, I'm somehow looking forward to it as I had fun with the previous ones. But I'm not overly hyped about it
I've got nothing against live service games in general. They have their place. But not every live service game needs infinite legs. I hope that's not what was happening here with the Bungie interventions.
@Tomato_Goose Nothing if it were earnest. If the leaked e-mails have shown anything, then that corporate representatives should not be trusted with their public narratives. That goes for both sides. Spencer can claim all he wants that he's the shining knight that cares about nothing but the games industry when all he really wants is what his corporate overlords dictate. That said, I do not doubt that he wishes him well but that "gaming industry" as focal point is part of his spiel, just like the "crying" is for Jim.
The closest I've seen so far to a From Software game in the genre. I usually compare other Soulslikes in order to distinguish them from FS titles. Lies of P is almost on par with them for me. (easy 9)
As much as I like communication with the fanbase, if I had to decide whether I want a bean counter or a likeable, relatable representative, I'd always choose the former, especially seeing how things are going on the "other side".
When I first completed this game, I was 100 percent sure I'd never play it again since Isshin gave me such a hard time. Then I replayed it a couple of years later and something simply clicked to an extent it hasn't before. Now, I can basically rush through the game without any major difficulties and I can't exactly point my finger on what it was that made me "get the combat". The exact same thing happened to me with Returnal, although this one is much more dependent on multiple factors due to the randomly generated nature pertaining to weapons and such.
Lies of P is kicking my butt but it is so much better than I would have thought. I have a soft spot for Steelrising but imo Lies of P is the most polished Soulslike game to date.
Lies of P. Brilliant game but even as a vet of the genre, this is definitely one of the more challenging ones, especially with the build I'm playing. However, it does so much right and also brings some very fresh additions to the genre in terms of weapon customization.

Re: It's Clear to See Why Sony Isn't Calling the New PS5 Model 'Slim'
It could be a neon green cardboard box for all I care. That said, yes, I think neither of them are particularly pretty.
Re: PlayStation Users to Be Considered 'Part of the Xbox Community', Says Xbox Boss
His game of the year? Lies of P.
Re: Game Director of The Last of Us' PS5 Multiplayer Project Says He's Still Working on It
@Nepp67 If I remember correctly, one of their teams is working on a new IP.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Alan Wake 2?
@Constable_What "I finished it, only have 1 trophy to get, but I missed something and I'm locked out."
I feel your pain. I missed literally one beep . I wasn't even going for the Plat and saw it after the fact. Now it annoys me, lol.
As for the question: Rock solid 9 from me. If it wasn't for some of the Alan sections, could have been a 10.
Re: Latest Alan Wake 2 PS5 Patch Applies 200+ Fixes
@Max_the_German After all the DLC has been released maybe.
Re: Did You Love Lies of P? There's Much More of the PS5 Fairy Tale to Come

Re: Bungie the Next PlayStation-Owned Dev to Suffer Layoffs
Some pretty weird stuff has been piling up over the last few months. Hopefully, the situation isn't as dire as it seems.

@Arkham24601 replacement velours pads will probably be available shortly after launch, at least that's how it went with the Pulse 3D.

Re: PSVR2 Is 'Important' to Sony, But 'PS5 Is the Core'
@gaston They'd be so dumb. They gotta know that a new VR title would be one of the safest bets.
Re: PSVR2 Is 'Important' to Sony, But 'PS5 Is the Core'
Announce a new Astro game and my mind will be soothed.
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Sil_Am Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly what it is. (lol)
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Nightcrawler71 Yes or watch an in-depth synopsis of the first one. From what I've heard, there's a pretty good one by Sam Lake himself on IGN.
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Sil_Am "You're letting them win, just because it's a good game."
Not sure if trolling or not.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Is Immediately the Fastest-Selling PlayStation Studios Game Ever
I like and dislike those stats at the same time. I appreciate the quality of the games but I also hope Insomniac won't turn into a Marvel only studio.

@Icey664 Nope, don't even bother.

Nothing but love for atmospheric adventure games. Also @ everyone: Play Syberia - The World Before.

@Th3solution Maybe when the Part I remaster will be released for PS6.
Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?
@Supergunshot Didn't say grounded plot.
Re: Poll: How's Your Hype for Marvel's Spider-Man 2?
@Supergunshot Yeah, when you ignore the "for a lack of a better word" which I also said, then it is no wonder it comes off as a stretch.

"in the end I didn't even know what I liked to play anymore." Man, that hit home for me. Totally the same for me!
"but if that doesn't release this year I think I'll just play Uncharted 4 on my Portal all day while I watch Christmas movies."

Ah yes, the good ole Sony Xbox. Great find.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 496
Carrying on with NG+ in Lies of P. What an excellent game it is. Might even be my favorite of the year.
Re: Where to Pre-Order PlayStation Portal
@JayJ Luckily, we don't have to line up since not a whole lot people are interested in it.
