Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake Claims ESRB Age Rating Ahead of Supposed 2024 Launch

@AK4tywill I have less of an issue with Bloober when it comes to the technical aspects. I bet this game will look fantastic. However, they claim to take inspiration from psychological horror games such as Silent Hill, but execute it so poorly in their other games. Apparently, the Konami team has had a close eye on this project, but I still remain very skeptical.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 521

I was expecting to dive deep into DD2 and play Rise of the Ronin later down the line. I played both of them for an hour or two yesterday and much to my surprise, I'm enjoying Rise of the Ronin way more than I thought I would. Currently "struggling" to decide which to play first since I usually only play one game at a time. Good problem to have.

Re: Microsoft Employee Inadvertently Adds More Fuel to the Xbox Multiplatform Fire

What I found even more interesting is the rumor that the event will be held by corporate. IIrc, the gaming division has surpassed Windows in revenue. Maybe Satya smelled blood and will be taking it into his hands now or restructure/rebrand the division. Internal strife between Xbox and corporate over the future strategy seems to have gone on for a while now.

Re: Another Three PS Plus Essential Games Are Yours to Download Now

If "it's a crap selection" translates to "I already have it or I'm not interested", then yes, almost every month would be that for me. That said, personally, I cannot think of a single month where I thought that the value proposition was off, even back when they only bundled in "cAlCuLaToR gAmEs". You're getting three games for the price of a lunch. The only time where I could see myself voting for crap selection would be if they only included games like My Name is Mayo or Jumping Taco.

Re: Rumour: Even More Xbox Exclusives Coming to PS5 Than Already Reported

dschons

I think Pentiment and other smaller titles were going to come anyway. I specifically remember their wording on the showcase it was shown referring to exclusivity, it was very vague. A couple of weeks later, I went to the official Pentiment page on the Xbox website where it said: Timed exclusive for Xbox consoles and PC. I pointed that out and everyone was like "nah, probably a mistake".

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for February 2024 Announced

@ZeD I totally get it. Steelrising is definitely different in that regard. Not saying it's a walk in the park and you can just button mash your way through it, but I felt it was very noticeably easier than any other Soulslike. It also has a very well-told story, too (not as cryptic). I think it's worth a look for those that are interested in the genre but scared off by the brutal difficulty of some of the other games. The difficulty in Lies of P vs. Steelrising doesn't even compare, they're a couple of leagues apart. LoP was absolutely brutal for me sometimes as well.

@ZeD If difficulty was holding you back so far with Soulslikes, this is the one to get into the genre imo. It has a normal and an "easy" mode. Granted, I'm a veteran of the genre but I died only once on normal mode. I would assume the "easy" mode makes it even considerably easier. Maybe give it a shot.

Re: Soapbox: This Is Why Physical Games Are Still Important to Me

dschons

Too many advantages for me still with physical games. I always get them 3 to 5 days early, they are a few euros cheaper than digital and if the game isn't for me, it gets sold right away with a marginal loss. Due to that, I'm also willing to give more games a chance. I can't imagine dropping 70 or 80 euros for a game digitally, because they could potentially be totally wasted if you don't happen to like the game as much as you thought you would.

Re: The Latest PS5 Firmware Update Is Available to Download Now

dschons

@Shepherd_Tallon I will say, it got a little better with firmware updates. At launch, the Portal held the 1080p staunchly which resulted in more skipped frames. Later, they added variable res and it got a lot better but directly comparing it to third party solutions, it is still lackluster imo. That said, I still consider the Portal the best overall package for remote play but it bugs me a little, because I was hoping it would be the same experience performance wise with a bigger screen and better haptics.
