Re: PlayStation Community Reflects on Iconic Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for 15th Anniversary

I have very special memories with this game as it got me back into gaming. I just got my first salary. Having that amount of money at once was tempting, so I bought a PS3 because why not, you got to treat yourself, right? I liked playing on PlayStation 1 and 2 although I hadn't done so in maybe 2 years, so what could go wrong? What ended up happening was I used my PS3 primarily as a Bluray player and didn't really game on it. Some day, I saw a very brief snippet of Uncharted 2 and thought: I loved Tomb Raider back in the day, so that looks fun, pre-ordered it on Amazon and forgot about it for months. Later that year, I had knee surgery and was released home. The doctors said I need to rest the leg for another 10 days, so: Just chill and don't move unless you absolutely have to. But man was I bored. The next day my grilfriend came home with an Amazon package and I absolutely didn't know what it was since I hadn't ordered anything. Obviously, it was my Uncharted 2 copy. Although I was so done with gaming at the time, the boredom took over, so I popped it in and started playing. The game reignited my love for the art form, so it holds a very special place in my heart. Uncharted is one of my favorite franchises until today.

Re: Preview: Broken Sword Is Back in the Most Passionate Remaster Possible

Story time: it's 1997 and I had just gotten my PS1 for Christmas. I was visiting a friend in a VERY small town, which had a video game store roughly the size of my bedroom. Not only was it in a small town, the store was even hidden in that town. We went there with all of our pocket money. I had no idea about new games, how they reviewed etc. And then I browsed the games and had a copy of Broken Sword in my hand. The case was beat up, the manual was torn and the disc looked like someone used it as a coaster. Then I took a look at the back of the box and remember being amazed by the graphics. But I had no idea about the game whatsoever, didn't even know the genre. But the graphics alone made me pick it up with all the money I had left.
We went home, popped it in and then I saw the cursor. I had no idea how to control George Stobbart and when I found out it was point and click and you couldn't shoot anyone, I was seriously disappointed. I just dumped all my money, so I tried to make it worth it. I read the manual and solved my first puzzles.
The rest is history. 27 years later, Broken Sword is still my favorite game series.Needless to say, I'll be all over this.

@naruball @mrbone I'll add Kayak Mirage for your parents, Puzzling Places is a great suggestion. That said, it is difficult to recommend anything as it is also very dependent on how much your parents react to motion sickness. Puzzling places should not pose any threat here, but anything that involves movement can potentially cause it.

One major tip I can give you is: If you're feeling a little dizzy (meaning in the head), closing your eyes and standing still for a few seconds can already help, take it step by step then. In case you're feeling funny or sick to your stomach, stop IMMEDIATELY. The latter is a clear sign to take a long break from it as you can't overcome it, contrary to the first example. I've seen more than three people trying to push through and they all ended up in the bathroom, lol.

@GeeEssEff I suggest lens inserts or contacts. I've been using lens inserts from VR Optician and couldn't be happier. They snap onto the headset lenses and you won't need your glasses. There are solid ones from several overseas manufacturers as well for cheaper. If you have no issues wearing contacts though, I still think this is the best solution. Unfortunately, I can't use contacts any more, used to with the first PSVR.

Price aside, what always surprises me the most is how unaffected people seem to be by the "VR factor" alone. Personally, I can't stress enough how much more fun I usually have due to it alone. I have to admit I had put it aside for a while, but recently I've played Hubris and Synapse back to back and currently I am dabbling in Galaxy Kart and started Madison. Not ashamed to admit that I had way more fun playing them than some critically acclaimed AAA games. That magic every single time when you put the headset on is simply unmatched for me. And while I agree that VR needs to make use of bigger IP more to draw more people in, at the same time, I'm baffled that a lot of people are so unenthusiastic referring to the overall experience. Sometimes, it seems like people do not even want to give the games any chance at all, there's so much good stuff out there. Although I'm spending significantly more time playing flat, not once have I regretted paying full price at launch.
