Re: Eminem Hires Agent 47 to Kill Slim Shady in Hitman's Weirdest Elusive Target Yet

_Nightsever_

@AdamNovice I know it's a joke but there is that "Get Down Mr. President" game.

Which is wild considering what ended up happening years later.

Come to think of it... why don't Hitman games have persistent self-sacrificing NPCs? Imagine how much harder it would be to cheese missions. Could probably boost their react times by reading the gun reticle or even VR eye tracking.

Re: Sony Trying to Silence Concord Revival Project After Fans Brought PS5, PC Disaster Back

_Nightsever_

HELL NO.

What makes this different from all the other online only live service games that have died permanently to warrant this? If anything, it deserves it less from the sheer amount of hate it would continuously bring and damage Sony and the Dev's rep even MORE. Worst of all... there is no happy ending to allowing it.

  • People farm the game for even more hate content
  • They would be surrendering all the devs hard work and expensive development to people who will obviously spend their time finding another way to roast them even more.
  • If players alter anything about it, credit will be stolen and hate will be expanded more.
  • Even if they DON'T change anything about it, if it picks up traction, it would be one big giant insult and they wouldn't even make a buck off of it.

Quite frankly, even if you were to let in a few people with "good" intentions, you also let in the wave that don't. Heck, as long as it's continuous, they don't even have to play it to farm it more.

Hiding behind the game preservation goodwill excuse is terrible too. This is the very nature of these types of online only live service games to begin with. VERY few have given options to players after their lifespan and most have a ToS that doesn't allow private servers both during and after the game's run. Hijacking it is completely unacceptable.

It would also be nice for Sony to stand their ground about something again. I feel like they haven't been doing that this gen, especially with the PC crowd. How much are they seriously going to allow while these guys insult them about their own property? They encounter so many problems from their games just being on PC where everything has to be just so. This does NOT bode well for future online only live service multiplayer games that might have a similar situation.

Re: Horizon Dev Guerrilla Won't Abandon PS5, Has 'More' Games Coming

_Nightsever_

@OldGamer999 Well, there was the canceled multiplayer so I guess Bungie is to blame for that one.

Uncharted did wrap up a bit too. I don't think people want another quick spinoff either. If it comes back, it has a lot to live up too. Any project of theirs has that kind of weight when properly moving into another generation. Also, their next game is brand new IP that looks expensive as hell and will likely do several things that we won't expect. A lot less of a template to go off.

Re: Horizon Dev Guerrilla Won't Abandon PS5, Has 'More' Games Coming

_Nightsever_

@OldGamer999 Naughty Dog is working on at least 3 games. Intergalactic, one game they can't talk about, and the last very likely being TLOU3. I doubt all 3 will miss the platform.

Because then how would they remaster it for PS6?

I'm joking here but seriously, give those guys more time.

Another interesting loophole is that some series don't actually need the same developers to return in some way. Might just be surprised.

Re: The Next Horizon Game Is an MMO for Mobile and PC, Prompting Fury from PS5 Fans

_Nightsever_

Actually, I'd LOVE to try this on PS5!

If this is an MMO, it's inherently live service, and could have other things that the industry has been afraid of for like... 3 gens now(MTX, Gacha, F2P, etc). But that's just the way they've always been. MMOs have ALSO been a part of Playstation's library for 4 WHOLE gens. Definitely don't hear anyone complaining about having more of these on the platform.

The wildest part about this whole thing is how many times Sony & NCsoft had a relationship in the past with not much releasing on their platforms from these specific encounters. It's even reported here on Push Square that they originally had plans to develop games for PS3 & PSP.

Baited for almost 2 decades is insane. I expect a port eventually but damn does it -actually- feel weird to wait for one this close to home and teased excessively. Sure there's a multiplayer game in the works(which could be live service too for all we know)... but it can handle and even look extremely differently. They even said they were testing multiplayer out with the Lego game. Who knows.

Re: Don't Expect Any PS5 Exclusives from Square Enix in the Future

_Nightsever_

I would guess they had Bravely Default in development for the Switch 2 long before they decided to go more multiplatform this year. I mean they just ported Triangle Strategy to even more platforms a few months back.

Also, I'm never forgiving the Foamstars hate.

If a port is what it needs to grow, then I hope they do it. Practically color coded for something like Switch but some of the fanbase was half the problem the game had to begin with before it even launched. If it suddenly takes off afterwards, that will definitely cement my feelings about the whole thing, if not how some people treated Square in 2024 in general.

They had a really strong lineup last year...

Re: After GTA 6 Delay, Wolverine PS5 Doubles Down on Fall 2026 Release Date

_Nightsever_

@LazyDaisy Anything big enough can potentially draw sales and time away from any platform because it can end up bringing the players from those platforms to another. The latter is something that people swear consoles have been missing this gen over and over but will probably hit like a truck when this release.

Of course, if the game gets ported, you then have THAT release date to worry about too. Then probably AGAIN whenever online happens. You just can't underestimate this franchise.

Re: In Japan, Switch 2 Retail Sales Are Already Closing on PS5

_Nightsever_

Completely expected. Besides DW7 & DQ8 the first time around, they've always been known to be more on Nintendo's platform to begin with so people have a connection there. They remade so many of them for DS/3DS, along with several spinoffs. Heck, DQXI even had it's own 3DS version. DQX was also an MMO that started on Wii and never even made it over to the west even after being ported. Combine all that with the handheld option and this makes sense. We'll probably see the same for DQXII if the release plans haven't changed. Not even sure if Sony putting out their own handheld would help the ratio with this specific franchise. Would have to be a damn good start.

The modern PS5 X & O swap might even have a little bit to do with it too since it's such a traditional franchise. I heard that this could be adjusted in accessibility but isn't always a fix. Does anyone know if it works for these particular games or if there's any kind of in-game settings for that?

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

@RoomWithaMoose
That's fair! But as cool as it would be to have it free again, they weren't exactly making a lot when it was either. We can both talk about how it's worth in value without the requirement for multiplayer now, but I don't think they're quite at the point where they can rely on the general public for the support either. The goodwill shift could go a long way now that all consoles are doing this... but they definitely have more to lose suddenly dropping something that has not only worked for others before them, but is very clearly an important part to their stability.

The leverage part is very important to the sustainability of all. I DO get seeing it as scummy leverage, but I feel like Microsoft kind of showed us what giving too much of a good deal does when you have the responsibility of a company that makes platform/games, and owns studios, have to put out physical media, etc in this day and age. Fewer results, even more shut downs... and the reckless spending didn't help either. PC, or rather digital distributors like Steam don't have to deal with that kind of stuff very often.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

@RoomWithaMoose
I wouldn't say the patience has too much to do with it. The idea is to use it in tandem with your usual gaming purchases and benefiting whenever it is works out. Not always meant to be used for your most desired games but maybe games you simply didn't get to or happen to be on there day one. Even with all the focus on gamepass offering games day one, PS+ absolutely have their cases of this as well.

Maybe for the first Xbox we could say it was about things just starting but people continued to not have an issue with paying for subs on the 360. Who even knows how long this could have gone on had Sony not decided to add games to the mix.

Some performance numbers are very innate to certain platforms. Sure PC doesn't have a sub fee to play online, but also most people have a PC in general. Nintendo games sell like crazy and chart all the time, but they also have a very family friendly fanbase where some purchase are almost dutiful with kids. But I think when we're talking about how multiplayer exploded, there are other reasons. The crossplay aspect added more to PC than you think. They've been paired with Sony for the longest but not with the numbers everyone has now. That was thanks to how open crossplay got towards the end of last generation. We also got another boom to the hobby in general with Covid. Everyone experienced a major growth.

NSO has a long way to go to compare as they aren't covering a good deal of their previous gen's games still and are probably the worst example of online quality. In fact, these guys have closed their stores multiple times making some purchases feel like dejavu sooner than later. They make probably the worst argument for charging less and I think people would jump at the chance to get some of their games cheaper as some almost never drop in price to begin with. I also don't think something as easily accessible as music counts quite as heavily here, but if we're saying that, couldn't we count Sony Pictures Core being included in Plus?

The main thing is Nintendo's competition at least allows people to either pop in their old games or have their network remember that they made the purchase all those years ago and in some cases, offer some of those games for free because of it. All that without a sub to begin with. People also still have all the games they added to their library from 2 generations ago through the subscription service as well. Not only that, but their trophies and gamerscore are tracked too, even after all this time. That's a lot to keep for around 20 years and on some platforms people don't even own anymore.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

@RoomWithaMoose Sorry, for the late reply! Busy weekend.

I think there are a few problems with looking at it based on what type of game it is even with the required payment.

1. The subscription itself could have scored you the very game you're playing multiplayer with making that entire cost included. Not even including all the other games you'd get, you wouldn't need much of this to add up and make it worth it in the end.

2. Sony themselves have released some of their own fully multiplayer games at around $40 bucks new. Not likely to always be the case, but that's a pretty big deal for a new game in general. We could jokingly say they shaved off the single player price.

3. The folks on Xbox have been doing this since the very first console with both fully multiplayer games or games known for people hopping on multiplayer asap even with a single player experience on the side. This is arguably the loop for any popular and/or competitive multiplayer game, even with the appreciation of having a single player included.

Bonus: Again-- the benefits didn't even exist when people were paying just to play online on Xbox for 2 entire generations. Just the online experience the platform has and that's it. And yet people talk favorably about those times. By comparison, PSN had a LOT of issues during PS3, the era where online was free. Heck, they even got hacked. Having an investment for an online experience forces these companies to uphold some level of quality. They have their own network to worry about in which certain level of things are meant to be guaranteed. Might even be part of the reason why the old stores are still up.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

@RoomWithaMoose One of the most primary benefits in question is simply just having a library of games(newer but also old-- sometimes touched up with features on Sony's end)to pick from and easily accessed for a single price. That's not locked away, that's just a proper service like anything else, and the folks on PC were paying for that because it was a cheaper option.

I'm afraid I need an elaboration on the Battlefield thing. I tried to look into it but I could only find that there was a skin that you would normally pay for offered for free with Plus and maybe some bonus xp for playing on the platform. Is there something more substantial locked there? Unless it's single player content, I kind of feel like you're already in the clear since it's a multiplayer game though. I don't think I've ever heard of a game having a lot or even a little blocked outright by PS+ before. Maybe access to a beta or something but usually they just do stuff like this or give a little currency/consumable bonus.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

@truerbluer The main issue is that most people only talk about the paying for online multiplayer part but forget about the other benefits every-single-time. Had those not existed, then this would make sense as an argument.

I'm not even sure WHY this keeps coming up as an argument when people on PC used game subscription services like Gamepass too(That's why the recent outrage was so loud).

And just like that, almost everyone is paying anyway.

Even people who stick to F2P or single player can technically reap benefits from services like PS+, but it won't seem that way if everyone just zeros in on the same paying for online thing over and over again.

Re: Talking Point: If Xbox Drops the Cost, Would You Be Happy Still Paying for PS6 Multiplayer?

_Nightsever_

No. What would stop them from bringing it back?

In case everyone forgotten-- and I know people did because everyone made gamepass one of the leading arguments for Microsoft for 2 gens... they made that move when they weren't doing so hot. I see moves like this as desperate and even more importantly, it doesn't fix their other problems. Problems that Sony themselves get judged for all the time and at least Sony tries to fix things bit by bit-- if not also actually making moves that help the industry in different ways instead of destroying it.

I'd be nothing but suspicious both in the quality and their intentions simply because of their track record. But if anyone else wants to take the bacon placed under their nose again, please find us later that same gen and tell us how it goes.

Re: Sony's Bluepoint Studio Recruiting for Third-Person Melee Action Game

_Nightsever_

Did I miss something or weren't these guys always working on something BESIDES the canceled GoW live service game? It was supposed to be something of their own, not a remake or anything... but I feel like everyone kind of resigned that info after the last cancellation.

That wasn't it... right? Aren't we back to 2 projects again?

Re: PS6 Release Date Touted for 2027, Cheaper But Less Powerful Than Next Xbox

_Nightsever_

People always treat this kind of news as some kind of calamity but there's even less of a reason to be this time.

It would be around 7 years(around the usual cycle) and next gen seems to be tied to having a handheld that can play PS5 games. Doubt they want a repeat of the Vita too so I don't think the support for the games this gen is going anywhere for a good while.

That plus next gen has to make an impression first.

Re: Oh No! Sony Reveals Stunning PlayStation Themed Magic: The Gathering Trading Cards

_Nightsever_

We have people angry about CARDS.... because they think this somehow slows down vital resources and comprises game developme-- ಠ_ಠ

Yeah, no.

Some of these cards are April Fools silly and they know it. It's half the jokes people make about each series to begin with. I think it's worth it for that alone. That and it's pretty damn smart! Limited release cards are FLYING off the shelves. I think almost anyone with really popular properties can get in on this if they strike fast, especially with a collaboration.

About the only actual bad new is... of course the scalping.

Re: Random: Auteur Hideo Kojima Hopes to Win an Award by Scanning a Real-Life Ghost into His Horror Game

_Nightsever_

This man has apparently been trying to possess Playstations for nearly 3 decades and already succeeded multiple times.

Could always make a barcode version of a ouiji board lol

As a side note, we do have dynamic time trials in racing games and ghost data in Tekken. Even a few stories of people's departed friends and relatives saved data showing up giving them the feeling of playing with them again. Very wholesome.

Re: PlayStation's New 'Rewards' Program Goes Down Like a Lead Balloon

_Nightsever_

It would backfire in no time if they were to give out merch to everyone for every special game so I would expect some kind of fee, especially these days. I don't really see too many ways to get around paying something.

1. They would have to make the merch extremely rare first and foremost. Would be a slap in the face if it was easy to get casually without even playing anything.

2. Maybe an increasing discount the more Platinums you earn? That way you'd seem like less of a cash cow paying premium each time and more like a VIP...?

3. And maybe give the first -set- amount of people free merch of their choice as the biggest reward? I do think they deserve that much. It allows some of the product to get out there in the first place for display too.

That's all I got for this one at the moment... I'm still bummed they didn't bring back PS Home and just make the rewards appear as collectables that you could decorate and interact with or something. I suppose it could still happen on PS6, but with all the live service focus this gen, it's just a flat out shame they missed this.

Re: Is This the First Tease of Next-Gen PS6 Graphics?

_Nightsever_

The ultimate example I always use is how people keep calling games announced from China unreal and how we've been inching into each one becoming a reality.

To be clear, some people react this way because of the graphics AND the stuff being done. It's a combination of BOTH.

As long as you have it in your head for even a second that something you see looks "impossible", then we absolutely have further to go, period.

Re: Sony Ends Convention Exodus for Epic Tokyo Game Show Booth

_Nightsever_

It's still the anniversary year for Bloodborne so don't count it out just yet, even if it's all the way down to The Game Awards.

Although honestly, they could definitely use it to guaranteed PS6 sale, like they did Demon's Souls. But since everyone's been asking like crazy, might as well go for a second game too.

Edit: @Oram77 Oh... He got me.

Re: Nerfed PS5 Console Silently Releases with Less Storage Space

_Nightsever_

Easy space expansion was one of the pitches for the PS5 and some games are smaller due to effective compression.

We also used to have 500GB PS4 last gen. In fact, you pretty much only get around that 825GB or so to even use when you get a 1TB PS5 anyway so maybe this one isn't too far off from being a similar model to last gen's.

Re: Rumour: PS6 Handheld Device Can Be Docked Like Nintendo Switch 2

_Nightsever_

@HammerKirby3 I mean if they're finally getting back into the handheld market seriously after all this time, then of course. Even if it had NO connectivity, having a dock in this day and age would 100% be ideal to compete. Nintendo themselves said they only want your time and not competition, but skipped over the convenient fact that -they- barely had anyone to compete with when it came to the handheld side of the market back then. Not only is it unavoidable now, but it's pretty much going to be 2 v 1 because they went hybrid and there's still the PS6 too.

Sony also expands on any form of imitation so I'm curious to see where they take this. It's rarely ever 1:1 without some twist and most importantly... the basics.

Re: Konami 'Forgiven' for Dropping Metal Gear Solid Voice Lead in Fifth Game

_Nightsever_

Woah, Woah, Woah... Forgave KONAMI? Huh!?

They made their peace offering ages ago and brought David back for Super Bomberman R to voice Snake like 3 years after MGS5, long after Kojima left. The guy is HOSTING events on their the channel for MGSΔ(Delta) now. WHY on earth would Konami even be responsible for that decision in the first place? They didn't even tell Nintendo to change Snake's VA for Smash when they put him back in either.

This is on Kojima. Even the quote doesn't mention Konami, but we DO have quotes out there where David mentioned Kojima previously. I doubt Konami would have even complained about keeping the same guy since grabbing other actors would cost more and that seems like one of the reasons why he was let go in the first place. Obviously the VA for MGS5 was changed for a specific reason but that doesn't change who's responsible for it.

Bottom line: This guy has been featured in Konami related stuff for the last 7 years. I respect him for deciding to give MGS5 a shot and coming around on the game made without him-- at least on gameplay... but framing the ire this way is absurd.

Accuracy hasn't exactly been the site's strong point and it feels like every article tries to walk back the bait by the end. This time however, the story is just targeted wrong entirely. By saying this, I guess we can say Konami is entirely responsible for everything about MGS5. Surely the budget, but do you see my point here?

Re: Capcom Will Present 90 Minutes of PS5 Updates at New York Comic-Con in October

_Nightsever_

Well... this WOULD have been the place for Marvel vs Capcom 4. Whatever gets shown will probably have a presentation or connection suited for the event. It's just that crossovers come to mind and honestly, they're not limited to just Marvel either. TGS is also 2 weeks before this!

Also, Playstation & PS5 is used so liberally on this site that it's practically a prefix. I get that it's the theme here but it has changed the context greatly from time to time.

Re: Sony Likens Its Fledgling Anime Business to the PS1 Era

_Nightsever_

They should really get Arby's on anime/game promotion and catering again the way they have Chipotle ready at EVO. Both of them clearly have a great relationship with Bandai Namco, and Arby's was even at EVO before Sony owned it. And I genuinely miss those creative tweets.

They could probably do giveaways too. I'm just Saiyan.

Re: Free-to-Play Juggernaut Genshin Impact Is Delisting and Shutting Down PS4 Version

_Nightsever_

Sounds like they have big plans if they're raising the minimum entry and willing to make so many players to migrate. But I'd imagine dealing with a loud PS4 is already a pain enough and you can probably transfer accounts. It also just makes sense because all of Hoyo's other games are on PS5-- if not a great deal of announced gachas out there. I even saw that they're raising the requirements for mobile.

The PS4 version DEFINITELY deserves credit for helping it's start though. I mean people were livid at Sony and literally destroyed their PS4s over this game before launch...

which means they had a head start lol

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

_Nightsever_

Get the money for next gen hardware and unannounced projects, follow the rule of delays and simultaneous release for multiplayer. Seems fine to me although I would DEFINITELY make whatever grand return or sequel that happens after these ports exclusive a bit longer as leverage to get people on at least the next platform.

Make no mistake, they need to take their next gen attempt very seriously-- especially on the handheld end. Absolutely gonna need exclusives. It's very much the reason why people got a PS5 in the first place, even with the later developments of confirmed timed exclusives. They're really going to need to show off their value so hopefully things wont overlap too much. I don't expect the rate to be anything too crazy and the games ported to make sense as they have so far.

Re: All PS5 First-Party Exclusives

_Nightsever_

Ah, so this is only the -released- stuff. No Lost Souls Aside, Intergalactic, Saros, Ghost of Yotei, Marvel Tokon, etc quite yet.

I haven't really been picky about the rate of first party exclusives with Sony for ages since they've nearly always been in the perfect position to have so many 3rd party games to fill in any gaps. I'm not exactly sure what changed so much this gen to not have as much of an appreciation for securing 3rd parties, but I've seen what their competition looks like without it before and it can feel like a drought. You don't have to hope for ports nearly as much on this platform.
