It's still the anniversary year for Bloodborne so don't count it out just yet, even if it's all the way down to The Game Awards.
Although honestly, they could definitely use it to guaranteed PS6 sale, like they did Demon's Souls. But since everyone's been asking like crazy, might as well go for a second game too.
Easy space expansion was one of the pitches for the PS5 and some games are smaller due to effective compression.
We also used to have 500GB PS4 last gen. In fact, you pretty much only get around that 825GB or so to even use when you get a 1TB PS5 anyway so maybe this one isn't too far off from being a similar model to last gen's.
Some stuff from the Sega revival would be ideal. Very proud of what they did with Shinobi as start for sure but I'm absolutely all about the Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi return.
@HammerKirby3 I mean if they're finally getting back into the handheld market seriously after all this time, then of course. Even if it had NO connectivity, having a dock in this day and age would 100% be ideal to compete. Nintendo themselves said they only want your time and not competition, but skipped over the convenient fact that -they- barely had anyone to compete with when it came to the handheld side of the market back then. Not only is it unavoidable now, but it's pretty much going to be 2 v 1 because they went hybrid and there's still the PS6 too.
Sony also expands on any form of imitation so I'm curious to see where they take this. It's rarely ever 1:1 without some twist and most importantly... the basics.
They made their peace offering ages ago and brought David back for Super Bomberman R to voice Snake like 3 years after MGS5, long after Kojima left. The guy is HOSTING events on their the channel for MGSΔ(Delta) now. WHY on earth would Konami even be responsible for that decision in the first place? They didn't even tell Nintendo to change Snake's VA for Smash when they put him back in either.
This is on Kojima. Even the quote doesn't mention Konami, but we DO have quotes out there where David mentioned Kojima previously. I doubt Konami would have even complained about keeping the same guy since grabbing other actors would cost more and that seems like one of the reasons why he was let go in the first place. Obviously the VA for MGS5 was changed for a specific reason but that doesn't change who's responsible for it.
Bottom line: This guy has been featured in Konami related stuff for the last 7 years. I respect him for deciding to give MGS5 a shot and coming around on the game made without him-- at least on gameplay... but framing the ire this way is absurd.
Accuracy hasn't exactly been the site's strong point and it feels like every article tries to walk back the bait by the end. This time however, the story is just targeted wrong entirely. By saying this, I guess we can say Konami is entirely responsible for everything about MGS5. Surely the budget, but do you see my point here?
@PuppetMaster & @DennisReynolds
Oh yeah, nope. I have no hopes lol I don't even want to think about the cannibalization of it happening with Tokon out there. I'll take another unexpected crossover similar to Tatsunoko or something though.
Well... this WOULD have been the place for Marvel vs Capcom 4. Whatever gets shown will probably have a presentation or connection suited for the event. It's just that crossovers come to mind and honestly, they're not limited to just Marvel either. TGS is also 2 weeks before this!
Also, Playstation & PS5 is used so liberally on this site that it's practically a prefix. I get that it's the theme here but it has changed the context greatly from time to time.
@get2sammyb It was definitely the sudden reveal of the gem system and the huge amount of on-disc DLC that really bummed people out. Made it absolutely infamous.
The gameplay itself isn't bad at all though! As wild as everything is, it transferred well into making the Tekken characters play in an extremely unique way.
They should really get Arby's on anime/game promotion and catering again the way they have Chipotle ready at EVO. Both of them clearly have a great relationship with Bandai Namco, and Arby's was even at EVO before Sony owned it. And I genuinely miss those creative tweets.
They could probably do giveaways too. I'm just Saiyan.
I love having stuff far in the future to look forward to as it adds up and secures a library for later... but there are some games you should ABSOLUTELY forget about.
Like any major Kingdom Hearts sequel-- or character for that matter. They don't remember anything. Kojima would have had a field day making KH memory card shenanigans.
Sounds like they have big plans if they're raising the minimum entry and willing to make so many players to migrate. But I'd imagine dealing with a loud PS4 is already a pain enough and you can probably transfer accounts. It also just makes sense because all of Hoyo's other games are on PS5-- if not a great deal of announced gachas out there. I even saw that they're raising the requirements for mobile.
The PS4 version DEFINITELY deserves credit for helping it's start though. I mean people were livid at Sony and literally destroyed their PS4s over this game before launch...
Get the money for next gen hardware and unannounced projects, follow the rule of delays and simultaneous release for multiplayer. Seems fine to me although I would DEFINITELY make whatever grand return or sequel that happens after these ports exclusive a bit longer as leverage to get people on at least the next platform.
Make no mistake, they need to take their next gen attempt very seriously-- especially on the handheld end. Absolutely gonna need exclusives. It's very much the reason why people got a PS5 in the first place, even with the later developments of confirmed timed exclusives. They're really going to need to show off their value so hopefully things wont overlap too much. I don't expect the rate to be anything too crazy and the games ported to make sense as they have so far.
Ah, so this is only the -released- stuff. No Lost Souls Aside, Intergalactic, Saros, Ghost of Yotei, Marvel Tokon, etc quite yet.
I haven't really been picky about the rate of first party exclusives with Sony for ages since they've nearly always been in the perfect position to have so many 3rd party games to fill in any gaps. I'm not exactly sure what changed so much this gen to not have as much of an appreciation for securing 3rd parties, but I've seen what their competition looks like without it before and it can feel like a drought. You don't have to hope for ports nearly as much on this platform.
That State of Play was really strong too. I think a lot of people ended up going to the trailers separately after though-- like the the Tokon one. As a result, some don't even know how much Sony played a part in stuff like that.
But no real bad news here. Promotion for everything. Hope the sales for Yotei get even crazier in Japan than Tsushima.
Normally, I would guess something like Zappa & Jam... and maybe a Blazblue or Persona character for hinting at a revival...
But if it's for GGST -specifically- and they're stressing it this much, I have NO idea. They already randomly blew our mind with a whole Marvel fighting game. Heck, the whole industry has been so crossover crazy right now that there's just no predicting it. Could be someone from freakin' Chainsaw man.
This almost feels charitable after how wild yesterday was.
This game lost a TON of anything Sony had planned for it day one thanks to the Helldivers 2 devs just letting people skip everything at launch. With all that ruined and readjusted, as well as other Sony's other live-service games not doing so hot, this is an absolutely no-brainer. In fact, it's probably the smartest thing they could do.
I think it's legitimately the type of game that audience would actually play-- dare I say pay too. Heck, it's not even a full priced game.
You can actually find random periods where the headsets go on sale with up to $200 off, so as low as $350-400.
And I keep saying it, but PS Home would ultimately do it. They need a VRChat-like. That plus all the mini games they could throw in would demo it for free. From experiences made specifically for it, to levels from existing VR games. You gotta have the ability to give people a level of fomo with your product. I'm just a bit annoyed that they could have taken this route to cover their first party live service urges. Not only that, but there's so much cross promotion potential and it could really help their sales with so many other things across the board. All of that not including how far we've come since their PS3 attempt. Fast loading is practically a selling point for the PS5. A lot of tedium from before would be gone.
Also, I would bite the bullet to make Astro Bot Rescue mission work on this thing. Whatever it needs, it gets. Already earned it's valor on the last headset and now it's practically a no brain--
Story wise, everything zig-zags so much plot wise that it's really hard to say if it's good or bad. I'm sure that's point on the morality end, but I do feel like it's a game with some serious sharp turns. Practically U-turns really lol
I think they absolutely nailed the atmosphere! The weather adds so much! Rain and forests feel perfect and being able to go prone to hide under cars or through grass in these conditions or zones made things tense. Same for the zones with excellent lighting-- even from just your flashlight and seeing the spores. Being able to do so much on the run adds even more tension too. This is the most memorable stuff about the game to me.
I really think they should have added Factions to lighten the hate and take full advantage of the extremely good gameplay. It would have been smarter to make that a priority to patch in instead of adding bonus mode back on PS4. And that feeling doesn't get any better after the rereleases(even part 1's) not having it. I totally get why people feel robbed of it. Was free and in packed into their games before-- even with Uncharted. It's hard not to feel a bit owed in that regard. I do appreciate that there's was a cheap upgrade to Part 2 though.
I think when it matters most, Sony has been extremely quick on refunding games like this. No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, Concord... games with those types of receptions on release.
I'm not going to say Roblox is groundbreaking or anything but it's free/cheap, has co-op, and is easy to access with customization similar to something like a LBP game. I say LBP not because of quality but in terms of how the community works to replicate or parody things with level and character creation. It's far more understandable from that angle.
I'm not really trying to sell anyone on this... just give a bit of perspective. Trust me, I know how easy it is to look at these thick as hell smiley mega bloks and ask "why," but it makes sense. Games with farming already do quite well and here you have a level in an already popular game that you can pretty much open in any browser if you wanted to. Add the fact that everything grows while you're offline and all the other extra's features mentioned in the article and it makes sense why everyone keeps checking back. That'll do it.
@Areus I wanted them to do this so bad, but it looks like Light of Motiram might beat them to the punch.
I think they still have something multiplayer in development, but Sony has been canceling live service stuff left and right... and outright canceled the Horizon MMO. A lot of uncertainty lately, but I definitely share the wish.
I wish I could have tried WKC2 too! Really enjoyed the first game!
@PuppetMaster Absolutely! Long running event with pools and several things going into overtime... gotta spare no expense or strategy to keep things cool.
I was wondering about the lighting! Wasn't sure if it'd be too silly to account for, but damn... I guess everyone was truly cooked from all angles. Had this been during summer...
You have no idea how much I appreciate these details. Thank you!
The thumbnail shows a PS5 Pro, but were they -actually- using them? Everyone just words it as PS5s.
The Pro is designed to run cooler. -Please- tell me they were at least using digital versions of the game. Digital games run cooler while disc drives heat things up.
If they really weren't using ANY of these things, this situation might be the easiest argument in favor of the Pro yet. Upgrade for the event and have a smarter plan for rotating consoles as well. This has been going on at random since 2023.
This actually just reminded me-- isn't there supposed to be some kind of PS5 Pro update in 2026? I'm cool with it now, but the timing sort of lines up.
This is way too picky and dramatic. Besides the fact that this gen started with a Sackboy game and people know or SHOULD know WHY LBP3 had to end... It's for a freakin' horror movie lol
Don't get me wrong... they could absolutely use Astrobot and Sackboy to come up with some super creative intros tailored around every first party game or movie experience out there. They already emote and wear costumes and it would be cute. But we don't have that for either right now. Just a production logo that already changes all the time. Maybe one day.
Heck, Danganronpa S & Rain Code came over and that was Spike. Not only that, but they were swearing up and down that Rain Code wasn't going to be ported.
It's amazing how not knowing the time frame that a game is exclusive changes how people think. I wonder why Sony decided to tell people theirs this gen.
Not budging would be an amazing power move and put a lot of things in their favor despite already having price adjustments over the years. Heck, bonus points if GTA6 really does end up being expensive and they make a bundle to mitigate that. The latter would a bit similar to the MKW situation, but it's 3rd party and the demand game-wise is even crazier.
Of course I still wouldn't be happy about GTA6 being more in the first place. Speculation of it being $100 before even $80 already seemed crazy... now we're already here on other platforms.
And you know this has GOT to be extremely tempting to Sony because everyone constantly talks about how much money goes into their games it's not like the system isn't selling either. Guess we'll see what happens.
As silly as it sounds, I think this kind of stuff is absolutely diabolical.
Look... if no one wants to hear out the folks complaining about a line, I get it-- sounds super banal. But the issue I immediately have is when this happens to gacha games. We all know the entire point is to sell the characters based on different appeals. You're already in fanservice city as the main bait. If whatever you see there is how the character is represented when you spend god KNOWS how much money, then it should stay that way. Any actual improvements are fine(new attack, animations, etc), but it's not like these characters are going to move faster without the wedgie lol
I just think it makes more sense to reward people for spending that kind of money. Playing the morality game now seems 4 steps too late.
I don't play any gacha games but there's a few on the horizon that definitely caught my eye. I highly doubt it'll be underwear related but I know there's a level of change that would make me pretty upset if I started to invest in those.
For starters, they actually address the public on serious issues. Doesn't mean every issue gets fixed perfectly, but they at least try with several.
"Want us to keep the older digital stores up? Alright. Horizon 2 was supposed to be crossbuy? Say less. PC players hate the mandatory PSN in Helldivers 2... Well, we tried to warn you and that's more on the devs for letting you all in, but fine, we'll work on that for the next year-- wait, ALL ports!? Also we won't shut down your tournaments. In fact, we own EVO now and we'll even have some scheduled online tournaments of our own. Here's some free DLC, avatars, oh, and some free games during Covid. Will the $10 upgrade path work for that copy of Horizon we gave you for free? Absolutely! PSN was down because of us? Here's some compensation. (Previously)Hacked terribly on our watch? Here's even crazier compensations and multiple public apologies"
"Oh yeah, we may have nudged some devs out there into bringing back or localizing some highly requested series previously found on our platform. ...what do you mean our -own- classics? Fine... we'll get someone on it."
Also VERY important:
If you've owned some of those digital PS classics WAY in the past(like PS3 era), you just flat out get them for free now. That's MAJOR. Had Nintendo kept their stores up, they could have done the same. Would they? Hell no.
I'd imagine Sony wouldn't just give their IPs out for 1:1 completely unchanged ports to begin with. Improvements should be expected, especially when going multi-platform.

If they really weren't using ANY of these things, this situation might be the easiest argument in favor of the Pro yet. Upgrade for the event and have a smarter plan for rotating consoles as well. This has been going on at random since 2023.
Re: The Hundred Line Creator Clarifies Odds of PS5 Port Are 'Very Slim' As Studio Is on the Brink of Bankruptcy
I'm sure it'll get here eventually
Re: GTA 6 Publisher Supports Rockstar in 2026 Delay, Commits to 'Excellence'
This actually just reminded me-- isn't there supposed to be some kind of PS5 Pro update in 2026? I'm cool with it now, but the timing sort of lines up.
Re: LittleBigPlanet Erasure Continues as Sackboy Removed from PlayStation Productions Logo
Re: Rumour: Chrono Trigger Remake Leaked by Dragon Quest Creator
No time travel to take that back
Re: PS5 Fans Are Begging Sony Subsidiary ANIPLEX to Port The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
It's pretty damn guaranteed so rest easy.
Re: Xbox Now Selling PS5 Games for $80, Joins Switch 2 in Price Increase
Re: Sony's Long Anticipated Lost Soul Aside Has Been Delayed Again on PS5, PC
I'm extremely glad they got away from Nightreign the Switch 2 launch! I respect the call regardless of the reason.
Re: Expedition 33's Sublime Success Sparks Chatter About Final Fantasy's Future
I feel like we should be discussing this with 19th century fashion and have a monocle on every profile.
Re: Massive PS Plus Clearout Announced for May, 22 Games Leaving
I highly doubt we've seen the last of a lot of these but it sure would be nice if there was proper PS3 emulation when they return.
Other than that, I'm usually more interested in what gets added next... But next month is looking way too freakin' busy to even care.
Re: Wuthering Waves Fanbase in Flames After Dev Makes Some Undies Edits

@ShogunRok What a tease
Re: Feature: PS5's Not Perfect, But Here Are 5 Ways It's More Consumer Friendly Than Switch 2
Would they? Hell no.
Re: Bandai Namco's PS5 Patapon Remasters Will Fix Issues Sony Didn't Bother to on PS4
I'd imagine Sony wouldn't just give their IPs out for 1:1 completely unchanged ports to begin with. Improvements should be expected, especially when going multi-platform.
