That State of Play was really strong too. I think a lot of people ended up going to the trailers separately after though-- like the the Tokon one. As a result, some don't even know how much Sony played a part in stuff like that.

This almost feels charitable after how wild yesterday was.
This game lost a TON of anything Sony had planned for it day one thanks to the Helldivers 2 devs just letting people skip everything at launch. With all that ruined and readjusted, as well as other Sony's other live-service games not doing so hot, this is an absolutely no-brainer. In fact, it's probably the smartest thing they could do.
I think it's legitimately the type of game that audience would actually play-- dare I say pay too. Heck, it's not even a full priced game.
You can actually find random periods where the headsets go on sale with up to $200 off, so as low as $350-400.
And I keep saying it, but PS Home would ultimately do it. They need a VRChat-like. That plus all the mini games they could throw in would demo it for free. From experiences made specifically for it, to levels from existing VR games. You gotta have the ability to give people a level of fomo with your product. I'm just a bit annoyed that they could have taken this route to cover their first party live service urges. Not only that, but there's so much cross promotion potential and it could really help their sales with so many other things across the board. All of that not including how far we've come since their PS3 attempt. Fast loading is practically a selling point for the PS5. A lot of tedium from before would be gone.
Also, I would bite the bullet to make Astro Bot Rescue mission work on this thing. Whatever it needs, it gets. Already earned it's valor on the last headset and now it's practically a no brain--
Story wise, everything zig-zags so much plot wise that it's really hard to say if it's good or bad. I'm sure that's point on the morality end, but I do feel like it's a game with some serious sharp turns. Practically U-turns really lol
I think they absolutely nailed the atmosphere! The weather adds so much! Rain and forests feel perfect and being able to go prone to hide under cars or through grass in these conditions or zones made things tense. Same for the zones with excellent lighting-- even from just your flashlight and seeing the spores. Being able to do so much on the run adds even more tension too. This is the most memorable stuff about the game to me.
I really think they should have added Factions to lighten the hate and take full advantage of the extremely good gameplay. It would have been smarter to make that a priority to patch in instead of adding bonus mode back on PS4. And that feeling doesn't get any better after the rereleases(even part 1's) not having it. I totally get why people feel robbed of it. Was free and in packed into their games before-- even with Uncharted. It's hard not to feel a bit owed in that regard. I do appreciate that there's was a cheap upgrade to Part 2 though.
I think when it matters most, Sony has been extremely quick on refunding games like this. No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, Concord... games with those types of receptions on release.
I'm not going to say Roblox is groundbreaking or anything but it's free/cheap, has co-op, and is easy to access with customization similar to something like a LBP game. I'm not really trying to sell anyone on this... just give a bit of perspective. Trust me, I know how easy it is to look at these thick as hell smiley mega bloks and ask "why," but it makes sense. The Pro is designed to run cooler. -Please- tell me they were at least using digital versions of the game. Digital games run cooler while disc drives heat things up.

They already emote and wear costumes and it would be cute. But we don't have that for either right now. Just a production logo that already changes all the time. Maybe one day.
Heck, Danganronpa S & Rain Code came over and that was Spike. Not only that, but they were swearing up and down that Rain Code wasn't going to be ported.
It's amazing how not knowing the time frame that a game is exclusive changes how people think. I wonder why Sony decided to tell people theirs this gen.

The latter would a bit similar to the MKW situation, but it's 3rd party and the demand game-wise is even crazier.
Of course I still wouldn't be happy about GTA6 being more in the first place. Speculation of it being $100 before even $80 already seemed crazy... now we're already here on other platforms.
And you know this has GOT to be extremely tempting to Sony because everyone constantly talks about how much money goes into their games it's not like the system isn't selling either. Guess we'll see what happens.
As silly as it sounds, I think this kind of stuff is absolutely diabolical.
Look... if no one wants to hear out the folks complaining about a line, I get it-- sounds super banal. But the issue I immediately have is when this happens to gacha games. We all know the entire point is to sell the characters based on different appeals. You're already in fanservice city as the main bait. If whatever you see there is how the character is represented when you spend god KNOWS how much money, then it should stay that way. Any actual improvements are fine(new attack, animations, etc), but it's not like these characters are going to move faster without the wedgie lol
I just think it makes more sense to reward people for spending that kind of money. Playing the morality game now seems 4 steps too late.
I don't play any gacha games but there's a few on the horizon that definitely caught my eye. I highly doubt it'll be underwear related but I know there's a level of change that would make me pretty upset if I started to invest in those.
For starters, they actually address the public on serious issues. Doesn't mean every issue gets fixed perfectly, but they at least try with several.
"Want us to keep the older digital stores up? Alright. Horizon 2 was supposed to be crossbuy? Say less. PC players hate the mandatory PSN in Helldivers 2... Well, we tried to warn you and that's more on the devs for letting you all in, but fine, we'll work on that for the next year-- wait, ALL ports!? Also we won't shut down your tournaments. In fact, we own EVO now and we'll even have some scheduled online tournaments of our own. Here's some free DLC, avatars, oh, and some free games during Covid. Will the $10 upgrade path work for that copy of Horizon we gave you for free? Absolutely! PSN was down because of us? Here's some compensation. (Previously)Hacked terribly on our watch? Here's even crazier compensations and multiple public apologies"
"Oh yeah, we may have nudged some devs out there into bringing back or localizing some highly requested series previously found on our platform. ...what do you mean our -own- classics? Fine... we'll get someone on it."
Also VERY important:
If you've owned some of those digital PS classics WAY in the past(like PS3 era), you just flat out get them for free now. That's MAJOR. Had Nintendo kept their stores up, they could have done the same. Would they? Hell no.
I'd imagine Sony wouldn't just give their IPs out for 1:1 completely unchanged ports to begin with. Improvements should be expected, especially when going multi-platform.
They said this game was going to be aggressive but they've been rewarding it way too hard on the offense side.
They should have done the opposite and added Chicken(reversal of an attack reversal) to the game again. That and actually let players parry heat moves.
I get that they're trying to give us more leeway to sidestep spontaneous heat attacks after blocking with some of these other changes... but ultimately, we're just -playing- chicken with absurdly fast and high damaging auto combo at point blank. It makes far more sense to be able to parry some of it like we could with rage drives in T7. Has the potential to look incredibly fancy too.
I have absolutely no concerns with remakes or remasters happening when it comes to Playstation. Far more of an eventually than an "if" and a game gets checked off every time it happens.
Speaking of which, Bloodborne's anniversary is in 3 days... I would joke that we need to prepare for the outrage but it feels like that every day.
@zhoont I said it in the last article and I'm going to say it again.
If this game needs any warnings before playing, it's definitely going to be for trypophobia. None of us have played it but the signs are completely there. Just plants growing out of everything and you have ryukishi07 who is good at the vibe of getting underneath someone's skin.
They listed mostly very standard stuff for the series... and body horror has always been a thing... But this game already has some INSANE trypophobia going on.
Like I would genuinely warn someone about it.
They're -literally- trying to get under our skin with this one. Ryukishi07 can't freakin' help himself lol
@Matroska In response to others selling their PS5 for the PS5 Pro, I covered about 55% of my cost that way. You do not include what you originally spent for your first PS5 in that math because you are replacing your hardware. Only whats left as you'd pay nothing had it covered it all.
You're grossly undervaluing PS+ by only seeing it from the online angle and not mentioning the benefits. The service gives you monthly games, a library of other games to pick from that go across all 5 generations of Playstation, cloud streaming, and other features like cloud saving, startshare/shareplay, etc. Yeah, you're paying for the online but you're also getting access to bunch of games too. You also don't have to take the plunge into every new game day one. Wait for sales as it practically only takes up to a month these days with the flash sales. Also, they have discounts on plus renewals every now and then allowing you to loop years for cheaper than normal.
Also, just being real... I absolutely hate troubleshooting to play a game and people go through it all the time on PC. Making sure their controller works, g-sync, audio issues, you name it-- even with all that power. I love the idea of mods and what they add to games, but sometimes even getting those to work can take some tries. Heck, these days, mods are practically game fixes to brand NEW PC ports rather than old games and that shouldn't be the case. You shouldn't have to deal with problems on your end, the end the developer was supposed to handle, and sometimes even the service you're downloading from. Then there's the illegality of everything... which, while nothing new, leads to more troubleshooting with emulation somewhere down the line and it doesn't support the developers that are still around, especially pirating new games-- I could go all day and I think that's the point. It's a lot of reappearing hoops to jump through just to simply say:
"yeah, nearly everything is better*"
*when it works
Well it's more expensive than the PS4 Pro and most people are waiting for a newer, more taxing game to justify the purchase more. For me, I just like more power and I try to future proof potential issues as much as possible in the moment so it was simple... but overall, sticking with a regular PS5 is fine.
I don't even know why people keep saying $700 over and over for something optional when others go above and beyond for a potentially pricier graphics card like it's not optional. Especially now!
I have to say though, given how freaking LOUD the PS4 Pro was, I never wanted to upgrade faster. I didn't need to hear about a single freakin' game. The second they said it was backwards compatible and ran quieter, I was SOLD. Anyone putting up with that thing is a masochist. I even tried replacing my PS4 Pro with a brand new one rumored to be better and it made the same noise during it's first few minutes of Monster Hunter World & Nier: Automata. I'll never take quieter hardware for granted.
Been stressing the sales point forever now... but what pisses me off more than anything was how twisted the story of Sony's promotion over Gravity Rush was. Everyone says it wasn't enough when they went absolutely crazy with it!
Accolades/launch day trailer
They remastered the first game-- so TWO chances
2 part free animation(OVA) a month before release
Made an award winning commercial for Japan w/ a single
Crossover collab outfits later that year(Like Nier and PSO2)
E3 & TGS uploaded trailer with 2 special on-stage ads at TGS
On stage announcement at the last PSX a month before release
All of that not even counting how much money that probably went into making a giant sequel to a Vita game on consoles... And no one ever talks about Puppeteer. I'm amazed it was even mentioned here!
Nah, this actually makes sense. Horizon was a special case since they genuinely gave it to everyone for free.
Lets not get carried away here. They're simply avoiding double charging people who actually supported the game specifically at a higher price. Nothing shady about that at all.
I don't know why people don't think of the possibility of these remasters appearing on one of tiers of plus later too. Happened with the director cuts and TLOU.
We need to have a serious talk about how people were capitalizing on this by lying about the reason why it went down, claiming there was no way to play single player games offline, and screaming bloody murder once it was done.
There have been stuff such as DDoS attacks in this industry that have lasted longer and quite frankly, we moved on. Of course the issue this time is different and more on Sony but it's far from their worst situation. That would be when they got hacked in 2011. It was so bad that their compensation was something like: 3-6 months PS plus, 2 out of 13 or so games for free, a free theme, some service extensions if you could prove it was inaccessible for you, up to $2500 in reimbursement if your data was stolen, and you could even cancel your account and get your PSN wallet balance refunded if you didn't trust them after the incident. All that not including the public apology which happened at E3 and for the presses. I even heard they had food trucks and were giving out drinks for the people at E3.
This isn't nearly as crazy as that though. None of your personal data leaked, no outage for nearly a month... so some extra days of online service which was down makes sense.
Furthermore, the hypocrisy over the false claims that these guys have no games or absolutely everyone prefers single player games over multiplayer were exposed pretty badly. It didn't even take a quarter of a day before people were complaining and uploading videos like it was the worst thing on earth with instant assumptions... and had they actually preferred single player experiences, they would have them for scenarios like this. Its so bad that Gamestop is roasting them and even then you should have the loophole playing single player games you downloaded digitally. So many people got caught lacking. Even I'm curious to know how much physical game sales improved yesterday.
Controversies aside, I can respect the disappointment for those with big organized multiplayer plans, people who genuinely don't have a lot of time, just got in, etc... I know I'm ranting but you don't deserve to have your plans ruined.
@themightyant This with a BULLET. Had every last one of these games on their platform and even some with deals. That and their pursuit of developers in China(and now India too) in general really shined even more last year-- even outside of gacha/live service.
Most people aren't honest about this subject at all and it's why I liked how the player's choice/voice category at the Game Awards last year really kind of exposed how things have been lately. People may not have liked the finalist, but it was a grand representation of where the focus is in the industry right now.
And indeed. The single player experiences have not stopped. There's genuinely something for everyone still.
Really? We're not gonna talk about the Nier Outfits? Seriously!?
In any case, they've effectively ended the live service part everyone seems to hate so much and will just have it out in a more completed state. The next update allows FAR more customization with loadouts, modes, and passes that used to locked by time/special events. If the trailer was posted here, these details would be a lot clearer...
but I guess we "have" to be depressed for some reason even though the devs themselves put out a message with this news saying that they simply added everything they had planned and want everyone to have fun.
Which should be news to pretty much no one. Single player games is what they do.
Even if hypothetically they had a full year without a first party single player game or the previous announcement and Astro Bot... would you genuinely believe they wouldn't be working on some? We even know about some that are in the works already.
@MrHabushi That is entirely the point of social media and news sites like this. We learn a LOT about details early from different parts of the world-- but that chart was a visual guide that's extremely easy to understand... so why not report on it? This also doesn't explain why these sites didn't simply ask Sony as well. Like think about where we are right now! Forget getting info from out of the country, some regular people just called and got this clarification.
How very nice that people paid attention that those fit but conveniently didn't question the rest. Even with the different midsection on the console that everyone could see-- along with likelihood that something was going to be different since the thing is more powerful. For the record, you can't use PS4 slim cover on a PS4 Pro. For very similar reasons too! Imagine that. No outrage then too.
It was clarified over a month ago. People just choose not to report on it because it doesn't bring in traffic. It has been essentially nothing but blu-ray drives and $700 before now, aside from the anniversary version announcement... and now they're apparently making a big deal over a "no disc-drive included" icon on the PS5 Pro's box even though that's been on every digital only PS5 box. Whatever.... They probably should have made that take up half the box after how much they have to spell out things for everyone this year. I digress... I'm out.
@Korgon That's what I'M saying! Half the complaints everyone made when the PS5 Pro was announced was that they were showing off PS5 ports of PS4 games... and now people go straight into tossing vanilla PS4 titles in this thing.
Now, this IS something worthy to test out because it's definitely a feature Sony includes, but the irony of it all just too priceless. If it was that easy to make a huge difference, then flat out NO remasters/remakes would matter.
I'm more concerned with people truly convincing themselves that a Bloodborne port isn't happening more than anything though. Aside from the coping, they complain about these guys doing remakes/remasters all the time and think they'll magically skip this one. The 10th anniversary is literally next year! They host a LOT of Soulslike games too!
@MrHabushi So tell me... how does the platform selling the PS5 pros online have less credibility than everyone else? How do you magically ignore something that detailed from someone you're shelling out $700+ bucks too? Why are news sites going off distant size comparisons from pictures instead of taking something like that seriously? If a bunch of regular people could get confirmation by calling customer service over a month ago-- on top of noticing all these other details, why on earth didn't all of these sites do it? Heck, they even found out that it has a slightly different shape and venting system and exactly what plates work where.
Do you see any PS5 Pros in that minute ad showing off the Chroma Range? Didn't think so.
No, I'm through with giving people the benefit of the doubt this year, if not this gen. Happened with Helldivers 2 but NO ONE ever admits that the PSN requirement info was there both on the Steam page where you buy it and in-game to even play. That was entirely on the players and the devs for letting them in for so long-- because if they couldn't play, they could just refund it, ultimately preventing people from being too deep into the game and worrying about whatever PSN rules there were.
My point is that Sony has been clear and everyone is blinded by whatever goes viral in each story. Helldivers 2 got popular so no-one cared as long as they got in. PS5 Pro is $700 and doesn't include the disc-drive... and that's about all people cared to know, if not repeat ad nauseam. Suddenly, people out themselves on preparing for this thing and not even correctly.
I cannot believe people are just finding out about this now when they even put out a chart and mentioned this well in advan--
I take it back... This makes total sense. Everyone has been having knee-jerk reactions to it. No research what-so-ever. I even heard there were some articles reporting that they WERE supported without even looking into the stuff out there and had to backpedal. Like even some people that didn't know about the chart or the blog just called customer service and got an instant answer!
We must do better than this. It's already weird that this would even be a huge issue when people complained about the Pro even existing. Do people want it or not... because buying plates ahead of time for it sure sounds like interest to me.

Re: Sony's Long Anticipated Lost Soul Aside Has Been Delayed Again on PS5, PC
I'm extremely glad they got away from Nightreign the Switch 2 launch! I respect the call regardless of the reason.

I feel like we should be discussing this with 19th century fashion and have a monocle on every profile.
Re: Massive PS Plus Clearout Announced for May, 22 Games Leaving
I highly doubt we've seen the last of a lot of these but it sure would be nice if there was proper PS3 emulation when they return.
Other than that, I'm usually more interested in what gets added next... But next month is looking way too freakin' busy to even care.
Re: Wuthering Waves Fanbase in Flames After Dev Makes Some Undies Edits

Re: Feature: PS5's Not Perfect, But Here Are 5 Ways It's More Consumer Friendly Than Switch 2
Would they? Hell no.
Re: Bandai Namco's PS5 Patapon Remasters Will Fix Issues Sony Didn't Bother to on PS4
I'd imagine Sony wouldn't just give their IPs out for 1:1 completely unchanged ports to begin with. Improvements should be expected, especially when going multi-platform.
Re: Tekken 8 Walks Back Baffling Season 2 System Change After Player Protests
They said this game was going to be aggressive but they've been rewarding it way too hard on the offense side.
They should have done the opposite and added Chicken(reversal of an attack reversal) to the game again. That and actually let players parry heat moves.
I get that they're trying to give us more leeway to sidestep spontaneous heat attacks after blocking with some of these other changes... but ultimately, we're just -playing- chicken with absurdly fast and high damaging auto combo at point blank. It makes far more sense to be able to parry some of it like we could with rage drives in T7. Has the potential to look incredibly fancy too.
Re: God of War Fans Gutted with Free 20th Anniversary Goodies
I have absolutely no concerns with remakes or remasters happening when it comes to Playstation. Far more of an eventually than an "if" and a game gets checked off every time it happens.
Speaking of which, Bloodborne's anniversary is in 3 days... I would joke that we need to prepare for the outrage but it feels like that every day.
Re: Even Silent Hill F's PS5 Steelbook Is Horrible to Look At
@zhoont I said it in the last article and I'm going to say it again.
If this game needs any warnings before playing, it's definitely going to be for trypophobia. None of us have played it but the signs are completely there. Just plants growing out of everything and you have ryukishi07 who is good at the vibe of getting underneath someone's skin.
Re: Silent Hill F's Content Warning Demands a Strong Stomach
You know what's funny?
They listed mostly very standard stuff for the series... and body horror has always been a thing... But this game already has some INSANE trypophobia going on.
Like I would genuinely warn someone about it.
They're -literally- trying to get under our skin with this one. Ryukishi07 can't freakin' help himself lol

Re: Sony's Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in the US
@Matroska In response to others selling their PS5 for the PS5 Pro, I covered about 55% of my cost that way.
Re: Sony's Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in the US
Well it's more expensive than the PS4 Pro and most people are waiting for a newer, more taxing game to justify the purchase more.
Re: Sony Japan Studio Closed Because AA Market 'Disappeared', Says Shu Yoshida
Been stressing the sales point forever now... but what pisses me off more than anything was how twisted the story of Sony's promotion over Gravity Rush was. Everyone says it wasn't enough when they went absolutely crazy with it!
All of that not even counting how much money that probably went into making a giant sequel to a Vita game on consoles... And no one ever talks about Puppeteer. I'm amazed it was even mentioned here!
Re: PS Plus Copies of Days Gone Won't Offer Cheap $10 Upgrade to New PS5 Version
Re: Poll: Did the PSN Outage Ruin Your Gaming Plans Over the Weekend?

Re: It's Been 1,000 Days Since We Had Word of Kingdom Hearts 4
Ironically, the best way to cope with this franchise's wait time is to forget about it.
Might as well do that for Project Awakening, Pragmata, Deep Down, and maybe Project Robot to be safe too. It's worth the surprise later.
Re: Marvel Rivals' First-Month Revenue Shows Sony Should Continue to Pursue Live Service on PS5, PC
Re: Foamstars Support Ends in January as Square Enix Drops Soapy Live Service Shooter
Re: Sony Promises It'll Launch Major PS5 Single Player Games Every Year Moving Forwards
Which should be news to pretty much no one. Single player games is what they do.
Even if hypothetically they had a full year without a first party single player game or the previous announcement and Astro Bot... would you genuinely believe they wouldn't be working on some? We even know about some that are in the works already.
Re: PS5 Pro Not Compatible with PS5 Slim Face Plates, Sony to Release New Covers for More Powerful Console
I'm out.
Re: Bloodborne PS5 Pro Comparison Appears As Consumers Receive Console Early
Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature
Is this site one big lazy IQ check?
ALL previous digital model PS5 boxes have this warning.
Holy... who's running things around here?
Is this really a Playstation news site?
Re: PS5 Pro Not Compatible with PS5 Slim Face Plates, Sony to Release New Covers for More Powerful Console
Re: PS5 Pro Not Compatible with PS5 Slim Face Plates, Sony to Release New Covers for More Powerful Console
Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Lets You Reduce Puzzle Hints, Option Also Coming to PS5, PS4 Soon
