Re: Super Mega Baseball 2 Pinch Hits Some Powerful Online Features

Yowza

I played the first game and it was ok til you got to the absurdly complicated upgrade system. What's wrong with just having regular categories with easily identified stats? I stopped going for the Ego 80 trophy when I realized I'd need to grind out tons of games to get the necessary upgrades.

Re: A Way Out Developer Hazelight to Receive All Profits, EA 'Not Making a Single Dollar'

Yowza

Obviously he's saying this so the EA label won't scare people off from buying his game. Fe received a lot of flak for their partnership with EA so he's trying to mitigate that.
EA may be publishing this "for free", though I find that highly unlikely, to drum up some good will. What they don't realize is, if they'd stop trying to rip off gamers all the time, they wouldn't need to drum it up, it'd just be there.

Re: The Order: 1886's Ready at Dawn Prepping New Third-Person Action Game

Yowza

I mean, if the order 1887 came out and improved on basically every aspect of the first, I'd play it. It had a good setting and that one good weapon (thermite rifle), and part of a story to boot. They just spent way too many resources on making the game stylish and pretty. And they couldn't really accomplish that, even, without lots of filters and lots of fog (even indoors!). The werewolf fights were terrible, and the fact they reused an early fight for the final boss was inexcusable.
But even after all that, I'd play a sequel.

I hope whatever they're working on now turns out much better and more complete.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Days Gone Seemingly Delayed into 2019

Yowza

Meh, Sony doesn't ever have any thing for the holiday season. They'll probably just release another iteration of the Pro or PSVR and sell those.
When MS has zero exclusives ever, Sony doesn't really have to compete to get theirs out on time. And while ps4 is getting a few exclusive heavy hitters this year, it's gotten so old for their AAA, E3 winning games to be delayed til "early next year". The new holiday season, ever since ps4 released, is from February to April.

I'd like to see this release in December. Nothing good ever releases in December.

Re: MLB The Show 18's Road to the Show Bats Away Microtransactions

Yowza

That's great to hear. Although the Diamond Dynasty is still just a vehicle for MTX.

Off topic a little, but I'm just now getting into NFS Payback. Much has been made of MTX and loot boxes being gambling. Well, this game does little to hide that fact, haha. The whole game is a metaphor for loot boxes as a form of gambling! EA is the House! The Tune Up Shop has a LITERAL slot machine aesthetic for the tokens you trade in! EA has no shame!

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Available for Download Now

Yowza

Lamest update in recent memory. Parental controls? Being allowed to delete notifications? ANOTHER Plus tab thing? I guess supersampling is supposed to be the biggest addition? That such a small fraction of users will even use?
Yeah, lame.

Re: New Onrush Video Features First Glimmer of PS4 Gameplay Footage

Yowza

First off, Rusty lied a LOT when Driveclub was releasing. It made me wait years (when all dlc was out) to play the game. Although the game was great, I don't want to be lied to and will certainly not give the guy any money.

The game looks a little TOO arcadey. It really looks hard to control the cars. I'm sure there won't be a demo, so who knows if I'll ever play it.
Also, if they "can't wait" to show us more gameplay, nothing is stopping them.

Re: No, God of War Won't Have Microtransactions, Despite Recent Rumours

Yowza

@Gamer83 EA took the MTX before the game even released, so no, it wasn't because of sales, it was because of backlash from the community.
Simply not buying a game isn't as effective as not buying it and ALSO telling them exactly why. When Batman Arkham Knight revealed how much crap was locked behind an expensive season pass, I emailed the devs telling them they lost a customer and cancelled my pre-order.

I also don't care if video games are taken seriously by outside entities. I certainly don't need their validation to enjoy them. I just don't want to get ripped off in the process.

Re: No, God of War Won't Have Microtransactions, Despite Recent Rumours

Yowza

@Gamer83 Obviously death threats are ridiculous, but i see no problem with going on Twitter (which I don't use) and telling these guys what we like or dislike. It's not just there for them to push out announcements and receive praise from fanboys, after all.
Also, consider the times get have changed for the better because of the very vocal backlash from gamers. Star wars is the most recent example, but remember when Driveclub wanted to take the full game away if you upgraded from the (half assed) Plus version and let your Plus sub run out? Gamers were mad and let them know about it. It's necessary.
I know people can go too far and often do, but not all complaining is bad. Hell, it's not even complaining a lot of times. It's voicing your opinion and letting the companies know what's ok to do and what's not.

Re: God of War PS4 Pro Bundle Announced

Yowza

Also, it's pretty awful that Sony likes to put games up for digital pre-order so early, and then announce this kind of stuff so late. If you pre-order the digital copy already (like an idiot) you are stuck with it.

Re: God of War PS4 Pro Bundle Announced

Yowza

Just as bad a console design as the game design! Very fitting!

Seriously Sony, and SSM (who designed this dumb thing), try harder. Not a single special edition console this gen had me even a little excited. Not that I'd be dumb enough to buy a Pro now anyway.

Re: Forced PlayStation Now Ad Causes a Stir on PS4

Yowza

@Splints next step is being complacent and making false comparisons because you don't personally have the foresight to understand companies will push things as far as they can.

Of course there's a difference between dashboard and store. Who said there isn't? There are ads on both now, though.
Also, I don't remember being able to buy a slim Jim or anything like that from the psn store. But I've seen ads for them there.

I don't care that you don't know what you're talking about. Enjoy the blissful ignorance.

Re: Forced PlayStation Now Ad Causes a Stir on PS4

Yowza

@Splints ....until it turns into something worse. How bout an ad before your game plays? Or before your trophy list loads?
It's only 15 seconds, right?
Eff that. They have ads all over the store already (which completely ruined the store on PS3 cuz it lags like crazy), they have ads when you pull down on a game for more info. They have ads in the "what's new" tab.

When is it ok to be annoyed about it? When it bothers you, personally? Cool, let me know when.

Re: PS Plus Members Will Get Two Games Per Month from March 2019

Yowza

@get2sammyb Well, the main reason they gave us a year's notice is so they don't get sued for falsely advertising that you get six "free" games with a plus subscription. After today, if you buy a year's plus sub, you can't complain about the service changing from what was promised.

Re: ESRB Adding 'In-Game Purchases' Label to Games Following Loot Box Outcry

Yowza

Well, that's basically every single game, then.
MTX should have their own designation. Standard dlc can have it's own.

I'd actually like to see a MTX warning on games, just so I don't accidentally buy them. It's a pain to have to search around any time I want to buy a game I'm not familiar with.

Also, man, that "upgrade" stipulation, that sends chills down my spine. Can you imagine if freaking ads start popping up in our AAA games? It's bad enough what FFXV did with it's stupid product placement, but can you be so sure commercials won't make an appearance in our games?
Five years ago I'd say no way. But now? EA and Activision and Konami and the like know no bounds and consumers are mostly idiots with no self control. It can definitely happen.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Gear Survive?

Yowza

@Party_Cannon huh. I guess I never noticed. I've played ratchet and HZD and evil within but never noticed because I'm the only one playing games in my house.
Can't you just back up your save to the cloud and redownload it if you REALLY wanted another save file for whatever reason in those games?
So I guess the only difference is MGS wants to charge you for this weird privilege?

Re: Metal Gear Survive Locks Extra Character Save Slot Behind $10 Paywall

Yowza

Well, of course this is ridiculous and comes as a shock to us console gamers. BUT, I've read that other always online, online mode only games have been doing this for years. Something to do with the characters being saved on konami's servers and therefore it's a way for them to limit the amount of space needed. (some people are ridic with their save files, creating new ones at basically every checkpoint)
I'm not defending this at all, and I'd never buy a game like this, I'm just shedding some light on the situation. Konami didn't invent this as a new form of MTX. but they still totally suck.
