Re: 'It's Coming to a Turning Point': Persona, Metaphor Director Says Atlus RPGs Must Attract 'A Wider Audience'

Vyse_the_Legend

If you try to please everybody, you will please no one.

I honestly hope that he means that they are trying to make different IPs that might appeal to different type of players instead of changing the genre of their established IPs. I would welcome this decision, because while sticking to the most profitable product might be lucrative in the short term, there will be a time where it will not be profitable anymore, so creating different kind of products is a good decision. Variety in products is always a good thing.

This being said I would love a new Unicorn Overlord game, I know Vanillaware doesn't want to make sequels (Hironobu Sakaguchi would feel at home there) and the director of the game left Vanillaware, but he also said he would love to continue to do more with the IP and maybe he creates a new studio where SEGA and Atlus handles the IP to him since they own the IP and not Vanillaware.

But if they change how their IPs play, they will alienate their core fanbase and new players are always a gamble since they aren't as attached to the franchises as long time fans are. If a franchise is good, new players will come naturally.

That being said I already noticed Shin Megami Tensei V to be much lighter in tone than SMT III and SMT IV and closer in tone with Persona, also being easier, which suggests ATLUS tried to attract the Persona crowd into the franchise.

I hope they don't ignore there fanbase just to get new fans to experience their games, that rarely works and it's highly likely that it would hurt business, but we will have to wait what will happen in the future.

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes Exclusives Make Consoles 'Sing'

Vyse_the_Legend

Exclusives are always important for consoles, games are also best made if it's developed for one system and unlike what many people say on the internet, exclusives are pro-consumer and not anti-consumer since they give the ones who buy them a better experience than if they were multiplatform.

Also Layden should have compared Mario to Astro.

Re: PS5 Is Edging Out the Switch 2 in the UK So Far This Year

Vyse_the_Legend

Seems weird comparing a 12 month sales with a 6 month one but it's still good news to see the PS5 selling well.

PlayStation is the strongest console brand in Europe so this isn't surprising but after 5 years seeing it still being strong is fantastic news indeed.

I wonder if PS5 will sell close to PS4 numbers, if not out selling it.

Re: Poll: Five Years of PS5 - How Would You Rate Sony's Console?

Vyse_the_Legend

I'm fine with my PlayStation 5 for now, I don't think I will need a PlayStation 6 in a near future, but you never know I don't think the PlayStation 5 will be my last console but I have no need right now to buy a new system.

In my opinion the PlayStation 6 should be released in 2030 in the earliest but Sony most likely will release it in 2028.

Also I love my PlayStation 5 library. Most of them aren't exclusive, but games are games, even though most of them are retro.
