@LikelySatan I actually can, even though SoA is my favourite JRPG I can see how it needs some quality of life improvements for a newer audiences. But I love the game the way it is regardless.
This is about anime and manga and not the games and I doubt that we will get anything Bloodborne from this, because BN has nothing to do with Bloodborne and BN doesn't own Fromsoftware they only publish their games which Bloodborne is not one of them.
So if the Kadokawa investment doesn't gives us anything new about Bloodborne, investing on BN will neither.
There are so many Sony games I want Sony to put on modern systems, Wild Arms 4 and 5 for example, I know it doesn't depend only on Sony, but it would be cool if Sony could find a way to bring bring them to the PS Store.
Ivo would also be could, it can be streamed but that isn't how I like to play.
Alundra, Arc the Lad and Monster Kingdom Devil Summoner would also be nice.
And finally, please put Legend of Gaia and Folklore on modern systems.
@timbo87 It's not the Final Fantasy VII Remake that fans were asking for. Of course a Remake has to be modernised to justify it's development but it was too different from the original.
A Remake is certain at this point. The Nvidia leak, Final Fantasy IX's 25th anniversary is getting more love than FFVII's 25 anniversary ever got and when FF14 got a lot of FFIX content Yoshida said there is a reason for that but "the reason is a secret". Plus when asked if FFIX Remake is being developed Yoshi-P never denied it.
Wanted also today that the third artwork is confirmation that Beatrix will be a permanent party member XD. I'm joking btw.
This games need to come to the PS4/PS5, sadly Iizuka seems to make bad decisions after bad decisions. He also said that the Chao Garden can only exist with an Adventure game, which makes no sense in my opinion since even Sonic Advance 2 has a Chao Garden.
This does not mean Final Fantasy will come back to turn based, even though the chances have increased. It just indicates we will see more turn based games from them which could be from other of Square's RPGs.
Also keep in mind that FFVII being turn based does not mean FFVII will as well. The times where we took for granted what we knew would be in the next FF games are over.
Give me a Chrono Trigger Remake and more Chrono games and I can accept and ignore modern Final Fantasy's action combat, sticking to I to X.
Definitely buying this, lack of War of the Lions content doesn't bother me, I don't even care for Balthier. Was more sad with Chronodia not having been included in Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.
It's definitely a success, since it's a new IP and was out for less than a month. Plus it wasn't released on the Switch.
Every game that surpasses 1 million copies sold should be seen as a success no matter the hype. Over 10 million sales are a rarety and and not the norm. We shouldn't use them as a standard for success
@Questionable_Duck These 5 million day 1 sales were also because of the Versus XIII hype. XV disappointed a lot of people so much that they had no interest in XVI and didn't bought it.
@Nepp67 "considering FF is essentially a concept and every game is in its own universe. Doesnt even make any sense to have it be numbered."
Most Final Fantasy fans played the games when they were turn based and the concept part is not true, FF1-9 are more similar to each other than the games that came after.
FF didn't start to change the formula until FFX.
And FF games weren't different universes until IX, before FFIX all games were supposed to be set in the same world.
I agree though that from XI onwards the games shouldn't be numbered.
This are great numbers happy to see them being profitable. I wish they would slow down with the Yakuza/Like a Dragon releases. The most hardcore fans might be buying every game that was released in the last 5 years but for the average consumer, it's a bit too much to keep up which is most likely the reason why sales are slowing down.
I wish we would have gotten sales figures of other SEGA franchises like Sakura Wars or Valkyria Chronicles though.
Would also love how much Unicorn Overlord sold.
Also compared to FFXVI this sales are definitely a success since they are more niche than the Final Fantasy franchise and XVI's budget was much higher than any SEGA game released recently.
I say this again. Square Enix needs to lower the budget for the next FF games
There is only one game that met Square Enix's high expectations in recent years and that is a HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest III.
Now that XBox is slowly phasing out from the console business that is now changing. The success of the Switch definitely made Sony notice Nintendo more, if they still didn't see them as competition Sony wouldn't send a survey to their consumers asking what they think about the Switch 2.
@Flaming_Kaiser Less quests are definitely needed and we need even less fetch quests. There needs to be quests that impact the backstory of the main characters... and they all have to be available before beating the story. Airships should also come back and done right (FFXV was a disappointment in that regard).
@Slayer25c Let them say it looks like PS2 graphics. Critic does not equal poor sales. Stellar Blade was praised for playing like a PS2 game and it doesn't look nothing special graphics wise, yet it it's one of the most popular games right now.
Final Fantasy XIII is one of the most impressive games graphics wise on PS3 and I'm 100% sure that is one of the reasons why the game struggled gameplay wise.
There is only one game that exceeded Square's high expectations and that is a HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest III and it's obvious why it did.
People (and Square Enix) blame PlayStation exclusivity on the "disappointing" sales, I blame the gameplay and the too high budget.
Too many fetch quests and the recent games are style over substance.
If modern Final Fantasy games were appealing to gamers they would be profitable, PC gamers are very patient, they can wait. Persona 5 Royal was released two years on PC after it was exclusively released on PS4, and it has more peak players than Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy XVI and there are more players playing P5R than VII Rebirth.
Stellar Blade, a new IP, has more peak players than any other Sony published game.
So PlayStation exclusivity is not the problem, the problem is how FF games are designed gameplay wise and that they are too expensive to develop.
Future Final Fantasy games need a lower budget.
On XBox, FF will never sell and SE should know this. It's simply not a franchise that appeals to the majority of them.
@Nakatomi_Uk It's funny, XBox fans were sharing Microsoft and Phil to successfully buy Activision and now they pay the price for XBox slowly phasing out from the console business and PlayStation players enjoying XBox games.
@HammerKirby3 I'm aware, that's why I said it doesn't affect me, because I buy the classic games I want to play (again) instead to subscribe to PS Plus. But many don't have interest in doing so and want to play those games only once and might consider the Premium price too expensive, so those classic games will never be played by those people.
@PuppetMaster Yeah they wanted to be the Netflix of gaming and they wanted that the XBox One to be always connected to the internet. I'm glad that at the time they didn't get away with it, but I feel like in this days they would have.
@TruestoryYep I know how anti consumer Sony is. I remember in the PS3 days when Sony said they wanted their consumers to have two jobs to buy the system or locking classics PS games on PS Plus Premium even though it doesn't affect me because the classics I want I simply buy.
But I feel like if Sony was planning for us to pay for online they would also have done it for PS3.
It's like Mario Kart World costing 80€. Now other games will follow suit.
@Questionable_Duck Yeah, the moment Microsoft started caring more about the games they cared less about the console and decided to port their games to other systems.

Best Final Fantasy.

Re: Sony Sued for 'Abusing Its Dominant Position in the Console Market'
"Considering it is still perfectly possible to purchase physical games on the PS5, we’re not convinced the premise of this case has any real weight."
Not every game has a physical version though.
In Capcoms case there is no MegaMan Legacy Collection that is physical availabe here in Europe and Kunitsu-Gami is only available digitally on PS5.
Like a Dragon the Man who Erased his Name is digital only as well.
So the PS5 still allowing players to play games physically doesn't give them much of a defence when not all games can be played that way.

Re: Hot Shots Golf Fans Fume at Use of Generative AI in PS5 Revival
Trees are part of the game's gameplay, so many players will notice more how they look.
AI should be avoided as much as possible, but the way how games now take a lot of time to make, speeding development up could also be preferable.
Still I prefer games to be 100 man made.
Re: Square Enix 'Aware' of Clair Obscur's Success, Ponders Turn-Based RPG Revival
This does not mean Final Fantasy will come back to turn based, even though the chances have increased. It just indicates we will see more turn based games from them which could be from other of Square's RPGs.

Re: SEGA's Accidentally Outed Sales Numbers Put a Lot into Context
@Nepp67 While this made me assume to be the case for VII and VIII as well.
Final Fantasy IV the After Years does indicate that at least that the first 6 mainline games are set in the same universe.
And I didn't say FFIX is set in the same universe as the other games before.
I said FF games weren't different universes until IX, meaning the concept of different worlds started with IX.
Square did consider making IX a spin-off instead a mainline during development.

@Questionable_Duck I would argue FFXVI had Naoki Yoshida's name attached to it. Without him, FFXVI might have sold less.
Re: SEGA's Accidentally Outed Sales Numbers Put a Lot into Context
@somnambulance From what I read I doubt FFXVI sold 4 million copies by now.
I do believe that will change once the game releases on Switch 2 though.
