Developer Shift Up has revealed some of its own data about Stellar Blade, the Sony-published action game that launched on PC earlier this year.
The game, which features main character Eve on a quest to save the planet from monstrous forces, is reportedly the "best-selling PlayStation-exclusive launch IP in history", presumably meaning PC, and also presumably excluding Helldivers 2.
The above image is taken from an investor presentation. As it highlights, the action title reached a peak concurrent player count of over 192,000, which is an impressive feat for a single-player experience.
In addition, sales across both PC and PS5 put Stellar Blade at over 3 million copies. The figure will be higher, as this datapoint in the image only reflects the game's first five days on PC.

Stellar Blade has been a big hit, then, and has resonated very well with PC players. We can't imagine all the mod support has hurt its standings, either, but we probably shouldn't dwell on that for too long.
Anyway, it's fair to say Sony did well to snag this one.
As for what's next, the developer has said it plans to make a sequel, and is currently hiring for the next Stellar Blade.

Desperately need the stats on how many of those purchases were for filth mods.
we already know why, lol. pc master race and master…..
It’s also been reported that there are indications from those new job listings that the sequel will be multi-platform. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the first game ported to Xbox/Switch 2 in the near future.
ShiftUp is looking to capitalize on its success and I don’t blame them!
Congrats to ShiftUp and PlayStation for their success on PC.
lol the reasoning behind this is sad and hilarious as the same time.
@nomither6 BAIT!!! That's bate!
I think I have done like 5 -6 play throughs of the game. mostly to get the new versions of outfits for each DLC, but yeah the game is extremely fun and is well polished (one of the best Pro enhanced games). Safe to say I will be there day 1 for Stellar Blade 2!
Edit: Lowkey think Sony should be adding Shift up to the family
Well deserved, it's a great game for many reasons beyond the one the two crowds of simpletons ("game bad 'cause boobs" & "game good 'cause boobs") can't stop parroting. As exemplified perfectly by this comment section.
Super satisfying combat, awesome enemy variety, mindblowingly good soundtrack and rock solid performance/graphics. For the sequel they mostly need to work on their environment/biome variety and writing.
Wow, so many people are salty that game without ugly women is successful.
Selling over 1 million copies in 3 days is no easy feat, so good on Shift Up.
The game is genuinely fun to play though.
On another note, the port being really well polished helped too.
@Gaia093 Can confirm the OST is god tier, play it nearly every week!
Didn't zero dawn sell like 2 million units on PC?
I am so ready for the sequel. It has the potential to be absolutely amazing if they pull it off
Doesn’t take a genius to work out why
There's something to be said for targeting the majority hetero male audience. But, ultimately, if the game wasn't good, it wouldn't be the success it is.
If the West wants to continue virtue-signalling to a non-existent audience, they can continue to go out of business while the East cleans up.
That means:
Some of the very best video games ever made performed significantly worse. And that’s a bit sad.
Well deserved.
It felt like a throwback, to the PS3 era.
I'm so happy that the east delivers kickass games again, as I'm so damn bored of AAA games from the west.
@Quintumply This is a bit confusing.
Push Square is saying Stellar Blade is Sony’s most succesful PC game to date.
But Shift Up is saying they had the most succesful launch.
Those are different things though.
So did it have the most succesful launch or did it sell the most to date? Shift Up says that sales were more than Sony’s own IP. But i think they’re only referring to the launch period, not lifetime sales.
Wasnt it estimated by Alinea that Horizon Zero Dawn sold around 4.5m copies on PC?
So did Stellar Blade sell more than that on PC? Or are they simply saying they sold the fastest during launch.
And they also show a slide of peak concurrent players when they’re talking about sales, which doesnt make sense. Communication wise, this is all a bit messy
@Megabeenz say that you prefer Horizon landscapes to grey corridors of Call of Duty and everything's fine. Say that you prefer Nathan Drake to walking wardrobes from Gears of War and everything's fine. Say that you prefer pretty women from eastern games to ugly women from western games and suddenly you are -ist, -er and -phobe.
@LogicStrikesAgain It’s based solely on peak concurrent user count by the looks of it. 1m would still put it behind pretty much every big Sony game. I doubt it will get to 4m which is what most of the big games hit or will hit.
@SeaDaVie Exactly, but the article kinda makes it seem as if Stellar Blade sold the best out of all Sony’s single player PC ports.
The article title says “Stellar Blade is Sony’s most succesfull single-player PC game to date, says Shift Up.”
But i dont think Shift Up is saying that at all. What i understand is that Shift Up is saying thay they had the best launch of all of Sony’s single player PC games. Not that they sold the most copies on PC. So it’s a bit of a stretch to call it the most succesfull single player PC game from Sony. Best launch perhaps, sure.
But maybe i’m just reading it wrong.
Anyway, it does make sense to me that they had a better launch, since Stellar Blade was a much newer game when it got ported to PC, compared to Sony’s other single player games. Some were already 5 years old, and the likelihood that many on PC had played them before was much higher.
And yeah, it also had a lot of attention around it for those other reasons 👀
Gooners gonna goon. This game is a poor man’s Bayonetta.
It's better than most of the stuff Sony publishes this gen, so of course it sold the most. It isn't a tired sequel or remake, which is a help.
@darylb24
That’s what i’m wondering though. This article seems to imply that, but it looks like thats not what Shift Up is saying. It looks like Shift Up just means that they had the best single player launch, not that they sold the most copies on PC.
But i may be totally wrong here, and maybe i’m the one who is misinterpreting things
@Gr8VngnzN4esAngr lol what? Sorry I don't follow video games much anymore. What do you mean?
@11001100110zero My guy, there is a full-on war going on out here in the dark underworld of the gaming sphere. A war between good and evil that will shape the future of the medium. You've probably strayed too far as this is very serious stuff that normal, well-adjusted citizens with actual lives just can't handle 😅
In short, western game develop has been infiltrated by the same ideology that has made pretty much everything in media worse over the past decade, whereas eastern game development hasn't.
Let's just say Eve's character design and choice of outfits offend a cultural minority whose privilege has landed them in positions of influence... although those people are now losing their jobs because the audience are voting with their wallet. (We are winning, and Eve's glorious, jiggling bazzongas are a symbol of that glory).
@Gr8VngnzN4esAngr Oh wait. Like when they couldn't photo up that characters skirt?
Silent Hill I think?
Congrats to Stella Blade. I might just do another play through.
"We can't imagine all the mod support has hurt its standings,"...
Hurt? More like helped its standings.
