Rebirth having that deal where you could get Remake free if you pre-ordered definitely could've skewed sales towards digital. I wonder if that's the case.
I pre-ordered even though I won't play it until I'm done with Rebirth which means at least another couple weeks, maybe more. I'm very confident I'll like it and it was 10% off for pre-orders though.
I really like my VR2 even if I don't use it a lot. While I have to agree the 1st party output specifically is underwhelming, I see a lot of posts and articles that make it seem like there's nothing to play on it, which is simply not true - unless you want VR to be your main gaming platform, in which case you should probably get a Quest instead.
Can't say I remember GoW3 very well (it's been years) but I loved all games in the series and I do remember both of the excellent Jedi games, so I'm definitely interested.
Safe to assume the game isn't coming out until a few good years from now though.
All that's in the trailer is some SM2 combat, except there's a few additional playable characters. And yet I'm seeing twitter posts saying the game looked "pretty much finished" 🤦♂️
@oc1d I'm not sure what the issue is but have you made sure it's not something in your network configurations? I've been literally only playing with PC players (the only squad member on PS5) and had very few problems in 30h of play. Not saying it's definitely not server-side, just wondering where the difference is.
@Specky They have a "Game Master" who decides which planets become under attack or are available for liberation. Tien Kwan has not seen action until this event.
However, even if a planet is liberated or lost, that doesn't mean it won't find itself under fire again (for example, a new offensive on Malevelon Creek was launched a couple days after it was lost to the Automatons).
That said, a planet is mostly a set of terrain type (one of a few) and game modifying conditions (for example, heat affects your stamina and energy-based weapons) so it's probably a good thing that the game cycles through these.
@ShogunRok Remake didn't come to other consoles in 4 years so I'd be surprised to see any of them launch elsewhere (other than PC) until at least a while after part 3.
I do wonder what the patch being out on PC and not yet on PS5 means for crossplay?
Edit: I believe I got my question answered - with one of the previous patches, a friend of mine could go online on PC without updating but the game wouldn't allow him to join games, saying game versions don't match. I expect the same here, effectively forcing no crossplay during this period.
Definitely expected if the game allows cross-progression - can't really do that any other way (save for requiring additional, game-specific accounts on all platforms, which is definitely not the way)
I feel like the "shifts in the market" part refers to service games specifically.
Executives at WB thought Suicide Squad was a good idea when they had it designed and we know how that turned out.
Single player story-driven games don't go out of style and don't compete with each other as much.
Edit: Bloomberg claims a Twisted Metal live service game was cancelled at Firesprite
@fabio1 I wouldn’t recommend playing solo but the game’s built in features (map markers, pings, basic message wheel) make it very easy to communicate even without voice chat (which obviously is also in the game).
We encountered a curious phenomenon where 3 of us were playing and 1 suddenly got disconnected - but on their end, rather than getting kicked, it was the other 2 who got disconnected and they could continue mission on their own. Otherwise smooth sailing, we kicked some Automaton butts. I know there are still some high priority issues so I'm hoping they get through those soon, so we can have our global stats and daily challenges and such back.
@Rob3008 @Deoxyr1bose Not sure about Persona but Early Access for SS deluxe edition owners was Jan 30 so I'm guessing they're counting pre-orders with that.
@Titntin You're always free to stick with the low difficulty missions even if you unlocked the higher ones. Thing is, higher difficulties in this game don't change how enemies or weapons behave (as in: the same kinds of bugs don't become harder to kill) but they do introduce new enemy types, goals, resources, modifiers, etc.
That said, there still some bugs to squash (apart from the Tereminid type). If you were looking to buy or spend some Super Credits, I'd hold off on that - saw multiple people reporting that their SC balance went to 0 after any kind of operation using them. Also, some players seem to be stuck on easy difficulty because higher ones won't unlock for them. Seems like the tempo of sorting issues out is pretty good though, so I'd expect that (and other issues, most of them minor) to be dealt with very soon.
@SgtTruth @TrickyDicky99 I think the appeal is that you could use it with both the PS5 (which is still the only place to play GT7) and your PC without buying an additional VR set. That's probably a niche audience but I'm sure it exists.
@mariomaster96 The staggered content release is interesting but I think the patch is a good thing, since a lot of people were concerned about the image quality in performance mode
@Darude84 Obviously I don't know how much time you have for gaming but you might be happy to hear it's not a particularly long game. If you're hunting trophies it might get a little grindy but otherwise even doing all the side missions it's not anything crazy.
@ShogunRok I haven't played MK1 but from what I've seen (especially the way people talk about it online) it seems like the game was a bit rushed maybe.
@Bionic-Spencer That's not even all the games that came out in the meantime (Granblue and Undernight have their enjoyers even if I'm not one of them). I didn't vibe with SF6 myself but I pulled the trigger on Tekken and I'm glad I did. It's an excellent package and a different enough game that I can play it and my favorite 2D fighter at the same time without thinking one is better or worse than the other.
Fun fact: this game's dev team includes a couple of Digital Foundry members, with John Linneman acting as level designer. I'm not sure any of them have any prior experience. It's also the lead programmers first game.
@LifeGirl Just to clarify (and I'm not saying you suggested it but it might be read that way), that doesn't mean there are 68 mln active PS4's. Many consoles have more that one user.
@Godot25 I don't think that's true They said their server capacity limit was reached at 360k, while its peak on PC was about 155k, which would make it 200+ on PS5.
Also, while this kind of game directly benefits from larger player count, for other games (single player ones) it might not be optimal business-wise. Releasing a game on PC simultaneously with the console version will definitely lead to larger sales on PC but Sony's revenue from a PC sale is lower and it doesn't incentivise console sales (which lead to even more software revenue). Obviously I'm just speculating why Sony might not want to do this.
@Tomato_Goose I voted for GoW and didn't vote for Halo. Tbf though, I could see the argument that Halo is the kind of game that's kind of missing on PS, while GoW is pretty close to the typical PS Studios output.
GoW is the closest thing Xbox Studios have made to what PlayStation is known for - I only played the first one (as it released on PC when I still used that for gaming) but it was everything I like in a action-adventure game.
Not interested in most Xbox exclusives but there's a few I would definitely buy (just not enough to consider getting a console for them). As long as this still allows them to be serious competition to Sony, it's a win for me.
@Mintie @Professor_Niggle Yeah. I haven't played the latest CoD but as far as I'm concerned, the series' highlights have always been the multiplayer and the campaign that felt like a super tight action movie. This sounds like a bad idea.
Obviously this would've been in advanced stages of development before they had a chance to see people's reactions but it doesn't sound like they think it's a mistake.
