Ubisoft Montpellier has today confirmed the slate of free and paid updates it has planned for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, having first teased them last month. The main addition takes the form of a paid story DLC arriving in the second half of 2024, but releasing between now and then are three updates adding new modes and challenges, all for free.
The first arrives next week on 20th March 2024, which has been titled the Warrior's Path. It'll add a new speedrun mode, a permadeath mode, and new outfits to customise Sargon with. In the Spring, a boss rush mode will be patched in along with even more Sargon skins. A Summer update will see some new combat, puzzle, and platforming challenges added alongside new amulets and another batch of Sargon costumes. The story expansion then rounds out the year, though no details have been shared yet.
If the positive word surrounding the 2D Metroidvania title has you interested, then the PS5, PS4 game is currently on sale on the PS Store for £26.99 / $29.99. The offer is available until 28th March 2024. Our Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown PS5 review handed the game an 8/10 rating and concluded: "Combining the series' 2D past with the time-bending powers from later games, this Metroidvania is a brilliant blend that brings the franchise back in a fresh new way. While it can sometimes look a little underwhelming, and the sheer size of the game threatens to slow its own momentum, the fluid, challenging platforming and combat are so fun that any shortcomings fade into the background."

Can't say these free updates would get me to come back, as I do feel quite satisfied and done with the game for now, despite it being my GOTY so far this year. Story DLC with some new areas would be interesting though.
I'll definitely be back for the story DLC. I might also dabble with the devine trials a bit. I'm not into speed running and I know I wouldn't make it far on a permadeath mode. Cool to see the game must have done well enough for Ubisoft to greenlight all this stuff.

I just bought the Prince of Persia The Lost Crown on sale with Sword of Vagrant. If you like game's like Atlus Dragon's Crown, Sword of Vagrant is on sale for £2 odd. I cannot believe i haven't seen this game before. Definitely be getting the DLC and trying out the free updates, this will probably be added by the time I get around playing the game. I have a huge backlog that just keep growing, it's a good problem to have.
@Jeaz I feel similar (though Rebirth and Balatro are both likely to outrank it on my GotY list). I loved the game, but it feels complete to me where it’s at. While I’ve joked that this summer is a summer of DLC, not everything needs DLC, you know? Potentially the best game Ubi’s ever made, in my book.
I’m looking forward to the story DLC. This has been my GOTY so far, and I got the platinum trophy.
I wish Instead of permadeath should have had limited lives mode.
