I rewatched it recently, it wasn't a great show, lots of indies and already announced AAA titles, as well as some uninspiring first party CG trailers for live service games.
The state of play we had in January this year was great though, hopefully a sign of things to come, id love a blowout, even if the games are 2 years out. The June 2020 showcase set expectations for a couple of years and was backed up by another in September the same year. All the titles that were announced have come and gone (except vaporware Little Devil Inside and Pragmata) and i'd really like to see a picture painted of the next two years of Playstation 5.
Year 4-6 on Playstation 4 were its best years and a repeat would be most welcome
Don't understand why you wouldn't upgrade and enjoy PS5 games like GoW Ragnarok, Forbidden West and Miles Morales. They obviously don't believe in generations
Nah, just more the controls, 3d games designed to be controlled with the d pad just don't play well in this day and age hence why the psp titles have aged better
Awesome, its amazing how poorly PS1 games have aged, but the PSP titles released so far have been pretty good, so id imagine the PS2 should be good also
This isn't unique to the games industry, its happening in all industries, its quite scary and it must be in the 10s of millions of people that have been let go worldwide. Welcome to capitalism, it will take years for the world to recover
Back in 2020 showcase, seemed like they were all in again on cutesy platformers/games, ratchet and clank, stray, sackboy, astro, kena, oddworld, bugsnax etc...Unfortunately that was it, now we just seem to be in action RPG territory
I see more people upset about Hifi rush sequel online, but I'm sadder that we wont get a Prey 2, yeah it had its flaws but I loved playing through it. The opening sequence was awesome
Kind of funny that if we do get Starfield, this will be the only Bethesda title we would miss post acquisition, presuming that going forward a lot of their titles maybe multiplat
If I had to guess, gameplay reveal of Concord(maybe with a 2025 delay) Silent Hill 2 release date, Lost Soul Aside release date, Convallaria delay, Until Dawn Release date, Ghosts 2 reveal, Venom and SM2 dlc reveal, and I really hope we might get Cory Balrog's game finally revealed and Asobis next game
Western developers need to look at Japanese development, smaller teams, cheaper development costs(not trying to push the envelope in graphics) and very few layoffs but games with great gameplay and very few nickel and dime you. 2K, EA, Ubi, WB are all in shambles currently and it will take years for them to bounce back
This is probably Square Enixs best attempt at a live service (not including MMORPGs), but its probably going to join Babylons Fall, Outriders and Avengers in an eternal slumber
So Astrobot, Silent Hill 2, Concord, and Until Dawn Remake, potentially decent lineup. Couple exclusive indies and Lost Spul Aside could make for a strong year
@Ichiban I was coming here to say the same, a DB port gets love but not Sand Land. Should be the potentially the second biggest release of the month after Stellar Blade
Playing it now, enjoying the ubisoft box ticking aspect. Game is a solid 7, sometimes reaches an 8 but still voted a 7. Game lacks polish and can be very outdated and ugly occasionally, gameplay is good though. I can't help but be reminded of Shinbido 2 on the Vita all the time while playing it
For me, still seems completely unnecessary, i haven't seen a game this gen that has blown my socks off, 3-4 years in the PS4 gen and things were cranking, i haven't seen anything on PS5 that is on par with TLOU2(except the remaster). The fact we are still getting cross gen games and the Series S being underpowered might be holding things back
I put an 8, but thats based on the time i spent with the demo, which i did quite a bit. Enjoyed what i played, but unfortunately no time to play it currently, maybe later in the year
I haven't played this and probably won't, but they seem to be doing gaas right, seems very cool how they're introducing new Factions, enemies and mechs etc...Hope they've got enough of this content for a few years
Oh man, I remember that I had the Remake limited edition pre ordered and then we went to lockdown, we got deliveries and i had to wait more than over a month to play, that sucked, was very tempted to double dip.
@Americansamurai1 Thats because Sony is lining its remakes and remasters up with their movie/tv productions. They want people to watch the show, then head down, buy a PS5 and a shiny new copy of the last of us
And why not?? Square Enix gives Playstation special treatment by putting their biggest games on the platform exclusively, you scratch my back i'll scratch yours scenario. Hogwarts also got its own state of play
Does this basically confirm that the next Naughty Dog game will be the original IP. That would be awesome, it’s been over 10 years since they did something new
You forgot the brilliant Silent Hill Ascension, which was also a really bad product. Silent Hill 2 looked rough, not setting a great precedent for the future of the series
Wow, was thinking about the studio yesterday and how it must be close to announcing a 4th title. Guess not now. Square Enix only has 4 development studios now and Taito, are they streamlining for a acquisition
Id imagine all the leaks will come true as its from a reputable leaker. As for other titles, there's a few things still left on the table from past SOP's, where Braid anniversary, Little Devil inside, Synduality? We might see some launch trailers for Foamstars or Pacific Drive? Capcom usually turns up, so time for Pragmata?
I just hope there's a big surprise or 2, but honestly with what's leaked its already looking like the best SOP ever

@Doctor_BK Maybe a Bill and Knuckles episode as well
Re: OlliOlli, Kerbal Space Program Teams Shut Down by GTA Publisher
@Deoxyr1bose yes, unfortunately for them they were a indie owned by a corporate.
A lot of indies will struggle to get funding the next few years as well which will suck

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Expected to Release Around 2027, Says Square Enix
It's a shame, the ebola outbreak in 2026, and the mass world riots against the world governments in 2027 will see this delayed until 2029 earliest.
On a hopefully serious note, that's not a bad turnaround for what have been some massive games.
