I gave it a 6, largely forgettable experience, very short and the levels had very little variety, run right, fight enemies, run right, fight enemies, get treasure chests, run right etc...every single level
They should of studied Telltale games far more closely
@ear_wig would hardly call those tentpole releases, they're nowhere near the scale of a 3D Mario or mainline Zelda, and neither are GOTY contenders. On MC the highest rated NIntendo game is actually Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Even with Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2, and hypothetically new multiplayer horizon, Cory Balrog's new game, Neil Druckman's new game, etc.. no matter what Sony releases next year, they wont win GOTY, GTAVI will sweep everything
I know 3rd party games on PS classics generally don't get trophies, but man I hope blood omen 1 & 2 do.
Hopefully this is a sign that we will get more entries, or maybe they put the polish on and release Dead Sun, i think that game was very close to completion
It's a shame that there big AAA titles aren't hitting numbers, XVI and Rebirth are both amazing games, even Forspoken was okay. I'm sure Dragon Quest XII and Kingdom Hearts IV can turn that around
@get2sammyb past consoles I may have bought a spare controller or 2, and maybe a 3rd party accessory. So far for my ps5 I have purchased, headphones, dual charger station, ps portal, 3 extra controllers all official Sony products. I think they got the PlayStation 5 aesthetic right, all the things look cool and must own
Sony has nailed Playstation accessories this generation, from headsets, PS portal, different controllers and face plates, people are buying them like never before
I mean there definitely isn't a lack of new games, and I never struggle finding something good to play.
But I understand why people are saying lack of software, and I think that's because Sony still hasn't released that killer app for PS5, the must play, must own game. The biggest titles they've released on PS5 have been cross-gen, and on reflection Spider-man 2 was a little disappointing, I still haven't seen anything on the technical level TLOU Part II was, which released over 4 years ago. The fact Sony is keeping their cards close to their chest doesn't help things, as there is not much to look forward to from them in the next year or 2
The days of working from home are over, so many companies and government agencies around the world are demanding workers come back.
The plus side is, those small businesses, cafes and hospitality venues that have struggled(if they survived) will hopefully get foot traffic back in their doors
@twitchtvpat I hope the new studio working on Uncharted turns out to be true. I'm itching to play a new game in the series, i bet it will be a remake of the first game though.
As for Naughty Dog, I reckon it will be 2027/28 when we see them again, after the massive cancellation of Factions they probably only went into preproduction of a new title this year
@LifeGirl there was a report saying it will most likely get delayed to 2026.
Sony could have a crazy year, if they can get Wolverine out with Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei as well, then that would be massive. The dominoes must be getting ready to fall, with Cory Barlogs new IP, Bluepoints new game, Housemarques next game and new IP from Bend, we could be on the precipice of PlayStation Studio greatness for the next few years
This sucks, I'm part of the problem to, the type of games they make are generally up my alley but I haven't bought them, in fact I've only ever played Life is Strange from them. I'll have to support their next release
Nice, I haven't been able to get a physical copy of Silent Hill 2, so I'm going to bite the bullet, pay more and go digital as the next shipment is apparently end of October.
On a side note, how does Mortal Kombat still go hard?
@get2sammyb My son is obsessed with Transformers at the mo(just like his dad was/is), I'm on the fence, does it have accessibility options for little people?
This is why i hate not being able to change your PSN home country, I lived in Australia when i bought my PS3, Vita and PS4 so I have all my purchase history and trophies on my Ozzie account. I'm now back in NZ but still use my Oz account (have to use PCGAMESUPPLY to top it up) as i don't want to lose all my platinum's by starting a new account. I loved the first hotline game and always thought i'd get 2 at some stage, but i'd have to work arounds to get it now
@Shad361 It felt like everyone on my X timeline was playing it, and its still the no 1 game on PSNPROFILES, but maybe only the PlayStation faithful's bought it and the general audience ignored the 'kiddy game'
Either Astro didn't sell great at all, or the sales estimates of Star War Outlaws is well off, there were reports that it only sold a million copies worldwide and it sits at 4th place, does that mean Astro sold less than a million WW? Or did Outlaws just sell really well in the UK only and not the rest of the world?
After playing the Horizon level in Astro Bot, it made me look forward to playing through this, even though I believe they are saturating the Horizon IP.
Would also buy Horizon lego if it became available(already have the tallneck)
I enjoy ubisoft games, mainly the open world collectathons. They're like comfort food, turn your brain off and do repetitive duties. Their games are always 7 or 8's, and I can't remember the last time or ever they actually made a 10/10 masterpiece of a game that set the world on fire. Assassins Creed Odyssey is one of their only titles to be nominated for GOTY at the game awards. They definitely need a management shakeup as it just hasn't worked for them for so long
I partially agree, there are so many hidden gems out there which have a 60-70 mc that people don't touch but are great games.
But in saying that, I have limited gaming time these days, so I want to play the best of the best. It's a tightrope as I'm skipping games I know I'll enjoy but I want to play the 90 mc's.
The backlog grows everyday, just look at October, it's f**cken stacked
Oh wow, they have been my favorite indie publisher for a while, that sucks, hopefully they form their own brand or maybe join Kepler who are quickly becoming the next indie star
Be interesting to watch, Yves Guillemot does seem out of touch. Ubisoft is so large compared to other companies, only Microsoft is bigger I believe, the head count seems huge compared to titles released per year. I cant remember the last time they had a huge hit or made a 10/10 game(if ever).
Hogwarts legacy should win this by a mile, most of the games have been cheap movie tie ins, and the Lego games were, well Lego games(you've played one, you've played them all)
I'm going through this list, and nothing tickled my fancy, the games I'm looking forward to weren't at gamescom, cant pick what to vote for
edit: picked Mafia as I'm excited a new one is coming, but it didn't exactly have a good showing, as like Borderlands was just a nothing sort of CG trailer
Tough one, I'd like to get the next switch for my son, however Nintendo will need to break the voodoo they have as all their successor consoles never do as well as the predecessor. I'm interested to see if xbox will bring out a portable, as a handheld with gamepass seems real appealing. I've also been contemplating a steam deck as I used to primarily game on handhelds for a while, namely the PSP/Vita/DS/3DS so I will buy something. Just don't know if id go back to a PlayStation handheld with how quick they dropped Vita support

For some reason, i thought this was exclusive exclusive to xbox, or at least a year or 2.

@awp69 not really this year, while they had plenty of decent games, they haven't had that big tentpole release for 2024

Re: LEGO Horizon Adventures Sets Odd Precedent, Lacking PS5 Pro Support
If this was a big new single player game, then that would be a cause for concern, but a small 10 hour lego game is not a deal breaker

Re: Golden Joystick Reveals Nominations for 'Ultimate Game of the Year'
Wow, that's pretty good list, my top 5 currently are
1.Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
2. Astro Bot
3. Silent Hill 2
4. Animal Well
5. Tekken 8
So great choices I think

@HotGoomba 100%

@Yagami no, to me a 7 is still a decent game, usually a few things from stopping being great. Even a 5 or a 6 can still be enjoyable
Re: Talking Point: What Was Your Favourite PS5 Game from State of Play September 2024?
Ghost of Yotei easily takes this for me, but revisiting Nosgoth is something I'm looking forward to!!

@torquex but female Eivor is apparently the canon one

I actually liked this game to, so I hope the free model does it some good as it is a lot of fun
