"Heavy" is a kind way to put it. Part II's story is a one-note sadism fest with uninteresting new characters. Druckmann is a suprisingly terrible writer without adult supervision from the likes of Straley or Mazin.

But the gameplay is 10/10, which is why I'm heartbroken about Factions 2 & why I'll pay $10 for No Return.

Hey guys, the #s are incorrect for Essential. I'm only seeing a 20% discount for Essential, they are asking me to pay $63.99 for a new sub. It's only $8 but it's pissing me off enough to stay lapsed

HBO's Ellie is more angry and twisted than the game version of the character and imo Ramsey does a fantastic job with it. Same will go for HBO's Abby; if it's Dever she'll bring her own brand of toughness to the role rather than huge muscles.

The sour, giant-armed version of Abby in the game didn't exactly work for a lot of people and they obviously aren't going to copy it for HBO's audience. (She isn't going to be killing Pedro Pascal at the very start of the season, either.)

I am both excited and annoyed — par for the course re: audio. I've invested quite a bit in game audio equipment but it sounds like this will blow my existing setup away. Interested to see if wireless magnetic planar over-ears are the next thing to come out of the Audeze acquisition

I didn't appreciate rhat other dev who tried to pretend like the original release was fine. But 2.0 really improved things and the writing/acting/scenarios in PL are all top-notch. Fine work CDPR!

Pretty happy, I love the hardware and UI. I'm over the hangover from this past May's showcase fiasco, but I need to see a series of solid exclusive AAA announcements for PS5 and PSVR2 to get back to the excited place I was at 2 years ago. Would also like to see friends' trophy achievements in some sort of feed again (a la PS4)

Will probably re-sub at 30% off Essential since it's slightly less than the old price. You need to get $38.50 of value to make Extra worth it and an add'l $17.50 for Premium.

Going over the games list I don't see it, but if I were new to PlayStation & didn't have a substantial backlog it'd be a fine deal.

@Cookiecadet Lol I paid $99 for early access Starfield on my 3080ti rig. The game is a huge disappointment, particularly the bland writing.

For the record, I love Fallout 4. Hopefully DLC and a hardcore mode can fix some of Starfield's issues.

A complete disaster for PlayStation. TLOU2 has perfect gameplay and to not leverage that into a multiplayer hit is unacceptable. Jim Ryan needed to go, and his replacement shouldn't use Bungie as the authority on what PlayStation customers want.

The perfect Jim Ryan product: snazzy hardware made useless by a lack of games. I long for the parallel universe where I buy one for farming duct tape and scissors in TLOU2 Online.

Pretty hard to believe that ND simply botched Factions 2, which ought to be a killer app that makes PS+ indispensable. Feels like something political went down, or it was decided it absolutely had to be larded with live servicey B.S. Either way it's a disaster.

Monster Hunter is an exceptional series; the complexity that comes from the weapon variety, complicated movesets + all the stuff you can do with items... it adds up to something that's just plain difficult to compete with.

Helldivers delay is a ***** bummer but at least Rebirth looks good

An excellent and underrated game, especially when you compare it to this year's narrative turkeys (FF16 & starfield)

@Kidfunkadelic83 It's just D&D. Melee is pretty overpowered, as are wizards and warlocks. There is an easy mode. Don't sweat it, it's more about tactics than complex strategy

The surprise GOTY. It plays amazing with a controller. Don't be afraid to try tactician mode; the game is pretty easy once you hit level 5 and get access to stuff like Haste, Fireball, and Wall of Fire.
Hyena ears = speed potions; save these for troublesome fights and you'll be in great shape.
This is the best game to come out in 5 years so roll up your sleeves, enjoy, and don't feel too bad about save scumming a bit.

Really hoping for a huge Monster Hunter announcement.

I was on Premium & had planned to lapse until Black Friday for a few months, even before the price hikes. The only value I really got out of Premium over Extra was a Gravity Rush Remastered playthrough.

With the price hikes, I'm just going to lapse entirely and shift my multiplat/multiplayer gaming to PC. If Sony announces stuff that gets me excited about the next couple of years on PS5 I'll reconsider.

If Extra adds a bunch of PSVR2 games, that could get me back on the service.

What I'm going to do is wait until there's a game on PS5 that I actually want to play online, and then pick up a 1- or 3-month sub depending on how long I expect to play.

Multiplayer & multiplatform game? I'll probably opt for the Steam version.

The sad part is I think it'll be a long time before PS Studios convinces me to re-up.

They're taking away the 12-month discount without raising the 1-month and 3-month price... they're gouging the most loyal customers, which makes it seem like they're very nervous about revenue for 2024. I hope I'm wrong, but it suggests they don't have much to show besides the slop presented for the disastrous May showcase.

Really hoping to see more VR1->VR2 ports like this. I'm happy to pay upgrade fees; VR2 is awesome hardware

@Loamy They had so little in May they felt the need to show that complete headscratcher of a Concord trailer. It was a very grim showcase, and it's all we've got to go on. I hope I'm wrong...

@AdamNovice I'm a massive PlayStation fan and I want the platform to be successful. It does not seem to be on the right track, based on what we actually know. I hope they have a bunch of secret first-party hits on the way but that seems unlikely.

From the blog post, it seems like 1-month and 3-month prices are remaining as-is. That's interesting, as those plans are now more valuable than they were yesterday. Good to know I can grab 3 months of Essential/Extra for $25/$40 when needed

I was personally planning to lapse from Aug-Nov and then consider a fresh Extra coinciding with Black Friday. I enjoyed having Premium for 9 months but as someone who'd played a lot of PS4 games, I couldn't justify a full price renewal. At this point I'm just going to play online on PC until Sony can make amends for the putrid May showcase.

@AdamNovice All of your reasons are wild speculation. Your idea that they're going to shift to a day one model is pure BS. It's much more likely that Jim Ryan has screwed the pooch chasing the already-dead Fortnite fad and they're desperate to shore up their #s for 2024 earnings calls.
