Sad to admit that I have soured on the game quite a bit. It's just way too easy and the balancing patch it needs seems to be very much off the menu. So now I get to wait 5 weeks to kill AT Rey Dau in 16 minutes on my first try? Very cool! :/
10/10, stands with the original expression of Souls (DeS) as Miyazaki's greatest achievement. Would be overjoyed to see his future work parallel BB instead of ER in terms of structure and story.
@DennisReynolds I'm not sure the UI could be much better given the many, many complex systems and requirements it needs to serve. I would hate it if they adopted something like a "weapon wheel" from Horizon or GTA.
They tend to deliver QoL UI tweaks along with some of the Title Updates so we'll see what they come up with. I suspect they'll use Nata more as a one-stop shop for "village meals" and farms
The LR campaign difficulty is ridiculously low. They should buff the monsters and/or nerf the hunters.
HR is still too easy but it keeps you on your toes just enough.
Highly recommend benching your Palico, using traps and Seikret rescues sparingly, and not upgrading armor w/ spheres if you want it to be a little harder.
@Nepp67 This game runs better for me than Elden Ring, Starfield (ugh), Cyberpunk, DD2 and even BG3 did at launch. But games discourse is powered by contrived outrage.
Very happy with the game despite the occasional choppy cutscene or botched texture. LR is basically a tutorial, but the difficulty peps up a bit at the end. I wouldn't mind if they nerfed my Switch Axe a bit...
So far it's just too easy I'm afraid. Wound popping is OP, my main's new move is also OP. They need to buff monsters and nerf hunters with a balancing patch. I genuinely don't know what they were thinking giving Large Monsters hp pools that last 3-4 minutes if you're moderately familiar with your moveset
Yep, I'll be diving into Wilds in 26 hours and 41 minutes. Hoping for solid performance, and perhaps a couple of challenging fights in the early-to-middle bits (a la Anjanath in World)
@Vladspartan Push Square is referencing a Digital Foundry video review that shows side-by-side comparisons of base vs. Pro in 60 fps mode. People need to stop with the constant "shilling" accusations every time some gaming news makes them upset
This is pretty much the same deal as FF7R2. Base console looks too soft @ 60; otherwise your options are reasonable. I'm gonna be throwing a 3080ti and plenty of DLSS at Wilds in hopes of getting 50-60fps @ 4K High.
I am a little worried about how easy it's going to be; I was hoping for something tougher than Rise. Based on everything I've seen, hopefully they boost the monster HP and damage a bit in the final final final patch. It needs to be hard enough so that you feel motivated to craft new gear or the gameplay loop falls apart
It's a shame that "isn't perfect" will be enough to launch an avalanche of negativity from gamers who seem to think the AAA game dev cycle should take 10-11 years instead of 7-8. If it's "much better" than the beta, it's good enough for a credible World sequel. Unless you prefer moaning to gaming, that is.
Did they manage to make the wound-pop animations a little less disjointed? Sometimes in the beta, due to timing, you'd do a melee Focus combo to a monster 20 feet away and it'd look pretty bad.
Is it too easy? Some of the other reviews seem to indicate that it is.
A fantastic review that avoids spoilers while illustrating the series' unique appeal. Thank you!
My body is ready, especially after finding some time to beat beta Arkveld last weekend w/ Switch Axe. Maybe I'll rewatch Tár to pass the remaining time...
I would add that the May 2023 Showcase was a profoundly dispiriting dumpster fire & Sony is going to continue to get grief from PS5 fans until they present something that makes the future of the PS5/PS6 seem brighter
The September '24 SoP was very good. This one wasn't, largely thanks to the Jim Ryan era's godawful 1st party strategy.
Sony should just delay these whenever they find themselves padding them with crumbs of new info on already-announced titles or eslop-adjacent anime crap.
@KundaliniRising333 It seems like the game will be good on 3070ti or better and PS5 Pro
They'll have to pull a rabbit from a hat on final release optimization for weaker hardware
Anyone complaining about how it plays on higher-end hardware just wants to bitch and moan on the internet, it's easy to tweak settings for good visuals at 60 fps
Pretty excited about PC performance in demo 2. Arkveld is an annoying fight for SA/IG/SnS because those weapons remain unbuffed and you really need to gather Parashrooms and bowgun-buff yourself to help with the timer. As for the regular PS5... gotta hope they optimize it better or give a nice settings option that gives you decent visuals @ 40fps. Pro should be very good.
As bad as the first party situation has been to the PS5, as a huge Nintendo fan my whole life I have to say that the Switch has been even worse! Odyssey wasn't great so all that console really got from a AAA perspective is two Zelda games 6+ years apart. Xbox, awful too. Just a really rough era. We were lucky we got BG3.
Super excited for this. Especially because Starfield was awful and we're probably never getting another real Fallout game thanks to the control freak/spent force named Todd Howard
@Broosh There's a mount rescue command that's a little like Wirefall.
Excited to get another bite of the demo apple! Doesn't seem like this will be a good representative of PS5 Pro performance — but it's a beta for network testing so I'll avoid drawing any unreasonable and whiny conclusions from it
@GeeForce I don't agree — I miss the GameCube days when Nintendo's games were state-of-the-art. Rogue Squadron 2 was a jaw-dropping moment for me. I have been a Nintendo fan since I was a small child but the Switch has been disappointing in terms of first-party games aside from the two Zelda titles. Nintendo is making a fortune charging $50 and $60 for old games on old hardware... can't argue with their business success but it's a bummer for me as a fan.
I managed to snatch one on Direct and then upgraded. As a Pro owner I hope this shortage doesn't depress Pro sales / make developers less apt to create Pro Enhanced games
PlayStation doesn't have a real competitor in the current-gen console space so they are right to be confident. Xbox is a mess, Nintendo is content to dominate their chunk of the market with underpowered hardware, and PC gaming is expensive/comes with a lot of hassles.

Re: Rumour: Oblivion PS5 Remake Releasing Next Month Appears More and More Likely
Super pumped for this. Especially given that I'm running out of MH Wilds steam earlier than expected (please nerf the hunters, Capcom! lolsob)
Re: ZA/UM Announces Project [C4], Espionage RPG with Some of That Disco Elysium Magic
They should do a Mage: The Ascension game with DE's system.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Monster Hunter Wilds?
Easy 9. The story/writing is improved to a surprising degree. Some fights like the first time you take on Fulgur Anjanath are visually stunning.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Will Cycle Weekly Event Quests with In-Game Rewards on PS5
I am having a blast with this wonderful game. The difficulty perks up juuuuuust enough at High Rank.
Re: 'Don't Bet' on The Last of Us 3, Warns Neil Druckmann
This is for the best, sadly. Druckmann's writing is abysmal without adult supervision (Bruce Straley, Craig Mazin, etc.)
Would love a TLOU spinoff by a new team at ND.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Sells 8 Million Units in Three Days, Capcom's Fastest Selling Game Ever
@Cornpop76 The game is very good despite the performance issues. Some of us prefer to enjoy games over outraged huffing and puffing
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Patch Fixes Game-Breaking Bug, No Word on Performance Improvements Yet
@Rich33 Beat the campaign on a good-but-not-great PC. The moaning is massively overblown. There are issues with fps and low-res textures, sure.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Big April Update Adds Harder Enemies as Difficulty Discourse Continues
Feels like an admission the game is a bit too easy. I'll be benching my cat and avoiding traps for starters when I start the game in 5 minutes
Re: Video: Monster Hunter Wilds Graphics Compared on PS5 and PS5 Pro
@B0udoir It's a significant difference in 60 fps mode.
From my very unscientific research, it seems like a PS5 Pro is better than a 3070 for this title if you want a mostly stable 60 fps.
