@Athrum It's easy to set up a PC for couch play, just get a cheap Logitech wireless keyboard+touchpad. Costs $20 and I'm astonished by how long it stays charged on 2 AA batteries
@somnambulance There is no comparison between a DD game and a MH game when it comes to gameplay depth. DD is a relatively simple hack and slash game with most of the dev emphasis put on graphical fidelity. Meanwhile all of MH's weapons have the move variety of a hardcore fighting game character. MH games have orders of magnitudes more enemies and each enemy has many more moves than anything in DD. MH has hundreds/thousands of items for crafting or deploying in battle. I could go on — point is you don't seem familiar with this series (and that's OK).
@DennisReynolds Every MH game feels dumbed down compared to the last one; welcome to the circle of MH life. Your comments are identical to what Tri/4U fans said about World.
Rey Dau is a solid fight and focus mode seems better than the clutch claw. I'm confident they will deliver monsters that are very tough (even before MR).
@somnambulance DD2 has a fraction of the interactivity and depth of an MH game so your expectations do not make any sense to me. I think Wilds will look very good on PS5 Pro, but I'm worried about base PS5 after playing both versions.
Agreed that the combat is too floaty and the visuals looked not great on PS5 once you see it on a good PC.
Another problem they have to solve is the f'd up animation interactions when you destroy a wound with a focus strike combo. On SA your hunter does this long combo, but the monster keeps moving, so you smack the air while damage numbers rack up. Looks dumb.
Still very excited and expect this to be GOTY '25.
Hmm. This is not a good article. The correct settings are Resolution mode with 120 hz ON regardless of your display. I don't know why this is the case, but the game looks fine with these settings and these settings only. Rey Dau and his lightning attacks show off what the engine can do very nicely.
I am pretty happy with Wilds now — earlier I turned off 120 Hz mode and it looked bad, you gotta keep that on. DO NOT switch to performance mode, it looks awful.
Soloing Rey Dau is fun & a bit like the early game Anjanath fight in World; you gotta be on your toes. The mounting is good and the sneak attacks you do when monsters brawl each other are fun.
The new wounding system and counters are going to take awhile to get the hang of. Focus mode is a big departure from past MH but I will try to figure out how to get good at it.
Switch Axe is a little floaty so far and the PS5 performance is not good. Feeling more "meh" than expected. Looking forward to seeing how it does on my 5800X3D+3080ti (which feels fairly PS5 Pro equiv.)
I really wondered if they'd consider going AI (with big money going to his family) since he's so inimical. Glad they have a decision made; RIP to the unforgettable Lance Reddick.
It looks good to me for the price of a sandwich; HZD is a 10/10 game with an incredible narrative. For the 3rd game, I hope Guerrilla goes back to the style of the original; FW got pretty silly at the end.
It was exactly what I expected, a bad state of play with a teaser for GoT2 tacked on. Monster Hunter looks great and I'll probably play Horizon Remastered. That said, I don't see a reason to upgrade to Pro.
Are people aware that the social features have been thoroughly busted for months? Cross-play friend requests don't work for large swaths of the playerbase. It's a scandal they continue to tinker with balancing rather than fix the basics
@RiceC03 See, I'm tempted to sell my PC and my fat PS5 and just go Pro. Dealing with crashes, random bluetooth failures, and the genuinely unpleasant experience of Windows on a TV isn't worth it vs. a 3090-equiv. PlayStation

@Jayslow Most people are reasonable enough to discern an early network test from a demo. Wilds will be a mega-hit

@somnambulance It looks very good on a solid PC. I think you're being too hard on it but it's true the visuals are smeary on PS5
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta?
Had a great time killing a pile of Rey Dau. I'm not worried about the look, but only because I don't plan to play on a base PS5.
Hoping they put some hitstop back in + figure out something coherent for how Focus Strike animations resolve
Re: Fans Work Out Why Monster Hunter Wilds Feels So Weird and Weightless in PS5 Beta
With the exception of the floatiness, the demo was excellent to play on my PC (5800x3d+3080ti). I'm bummed I can't keep playing it today!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Astro Bot?
8/10 for me. Too many of the challenge levels create "difficulty" by making the next obstacle impossible to see. Splashing Sprint is genuinely awful.
It's very good but it ain't Mario.
