There is no point to adding a performance mode; due to CPU load from NPCs in the city a $5K PC can't hold 30 fps let alone 60

If you got wrapped up in the online drama, you played yourself. DD2 is a gorgeous and engaging spectacle. Playing this one on PC, no problems aside from stutters in the cities. It runs better than Elden Ring or BG3 did on my PC at launch.

I would probably only be tempted to buy it for Horizon 3 I guess. I have a 3080ti which is just as strong as these specs, I can settle for GTAVI and the evitable Tsushima sequel on the regular PS5 and play MH Wilds on PC. They would need to shock the world with a Bluepoint Bloodborne game or something to get my $ for new hardware after the PSVR2 letdown.

Arguably the best video game of all time once you figure things out. My journey from being cluelessly carried via SoS to being able to solo Alatreon with an unaugmented SwAxe is a pinnacle of my nerd existence

The game doesn't get enough credit for its wonderful graphics and sound. When the stratagems get going it's like a real-life fireworks show

Capcom is the last great dev. MH Wilds is gonna be off the hook

They laid off the guy in charge of preventing that

Will be interesting to see what Mazin does to make Part II's story less of a chore

I absolutely love Horizon. Did HFW's story get a little goofy at the end? Yes it did, but I'm hopeful the third game will return to HZD's unique tones of wonder and despair. Aloy & friends have Wikipedia now and there's a ton of creative stuff they can do with the story. Call of the Mountain was very good and I'm disappointed we don't seem to be getting a sequel (or any big VR PS Studios fare).

As for multiplayer Horizon, I hope it really is a Monster Hunter clone with MH's degree of combat complexity. More likely it's gonna be a bow and arrow co-op shooter... Either way I'll be there on day one.

I do not accept the premise that profitable enterprises like PlayStation need to screw customers and workers to chase unsustainable growth targets at the behest of financial markets.

That aside, it's obvious that Jim Ryan screwed the pooch chasing the Fortnite fad, they have next to nothing in the hopper, and they're scared.

DS2 is fantastic. If it weren't for ADP confusing players and making rolls seem impossible it wouldn't be so underrated

Crushed by the lack of 1st party muscle behind it. Shame because the hardware is great (I'm fine with the lenses). GT7 was incredible and CotM was promising

Doesn't Alyx require the Index? Don't see why Valve would make an exception for PSVR2 in PC mode

Talk about mixed feelings! I'm glad this lovely piece of hardware will be more useful but this also feels like a surrender on high-quality first party stuff

@TheArt I made the mistake of playing it on a new PC and I didn't go back to it after beating it that first month. The stuttering was atrocious. Beyond that, during that first month, the game had very broken ashes of war (hoarfrost stomp anyone?) and horrible balancing between classes. The mounted combat was really easy to abuse — I killed Fire Giant first try on the horse by poking his toes, but in co-op runs I experienced a <3% win rate because of all the cheap one-shot attacks.

It was a rushed, sloppy mess at release. They fixed a ton of stuff later on but that was too late for me. I rate BB as a 10, ER a 7.5. DeS (both versions), DS1, DS2 Scholar, and DS3 are all better games, too.

I'll be the lone voice of dissent and say that ER isn't nearly as good as Bloodborne. Wish this dev team's amazing talents could be pointed at a BB sequel instead.

They need to tease the Bluepoint/Bend/ND/Sucker Punch work that's going on ASAP. It's fine if it's in the same '25 launch window as GTAVI and MH Wilds. This generation is feeling like a rugpull at the moment with the long drought and dearth of VR2 content

I think they would have teased Ghost of 2shima by now if it wouldn't awkwardly undercut the Rise of the Ronin release

Yeah i did like 3-4 unrewarded missions on Sunday morning

@Falien You can play it solo but it's a somewhat limited experience, the game does not balance difficulty for fewer than 4 players so harder missions are too hectic and overwhelming without a squad

Great review. I found the first game amusing but ultimately I'm not into 2D gaming. This one is a direct hit. Napalm, mini-nukes, and ICBMs seem to never get old

GREAT game that should have been on PS5 ages ago

This is a brilliant game; a perfect 2D-to-3D translation of the original Helldivers and a triumph for PlayStation. It looks amazing and plays great. The writing is hilarious — it evokes classic 80s TTPRGs while satirizing hit games. The pay2win elements are trivial. Couldn't be happier and I'm glad I bought it on PS vs. Steam.

Yes there are server issues, but they will pass.

The game is a triumph of managed democracy, great job Arrowhead and Sony!

This actually looked pretty interesting to me. Not amazing visually but it seemed to have a good mix of interesting gameplay and RPG elements

PS5 and PSVR2 are a laughingstock in terms of exclusives. They need to tease something big here or more will opt for Steam versions of multiplats. I'm gaming on PC more than I ever thought I would and I'm not the only one.

The Pulse Explore were a huge bummer for me. The most uncomfortable earbuds I've ever worn. Returned them after 2 days. It's too bad because the sound was great

Digital Foundry did a great analysis vid. The foliage is significantly improved and the game does actually look across-the-board better in native 40K/40 fps if you muck around in the settings.

I'm skipping this upgrade. I'm a sucker for Horizon Zero Dawn so I'll probably do that one, though.

I am playing World again and loving it. When will other devs start to take cues from MH's complexity? Forbidden West, for example, would have been a cooler game with more complex movesets and itemization.

While BG3 is obviously game of the year it makes sense that it would take a little hit in a PS5-specific context because of the release date

It's pretty goddamn obvious that TLOU2's perfect gameplay would be fantastic attached to a fresh multiplayer implementation as opposed to Druckmann's dull and monotonous narrative for Part II.

I'm bitter about the mix of politics and incompetence that deep-sixed this game. And I don't buy the official explanation at all.

I thought it was a really great game; don't know what people are grousing about. Will buy and play the DLC as soon as it's out. It would have gotten my vote for Sound Design I suppose but BG3 and Totk were better obviously.

I don't really care about whether Xbox succeeds or fails, although personally after Starfraud my feelings for them are at an all-time low.

I am concerned that there is so little new stuff coming out of Sony's first party studios. It really does seem like Jim Ryan tried to reorient everything around the Fortnite fad during covid and now they're stuck with having to turn the battleship back in the right direction.

But ***** it, who cares, we get to chew up our backlogs in 2024 and then we get Monster Hunter and GTA.
