Re: Rumour: PS5 Controller's Battery Life 3 to 4 Hours Longer than DualShock 4

Unlucky13

I've never understood what the complaint is about the battery life on the DS4. I mean, after I game for a few hours, I turn the PS4 off and plug the controller in. Is that so hard?

When the PS4 came out, I was delighted that I could charge the controller on its own rather than needing to plug it into the PS3 while the system was turned on. Now, I just have a cable next to my couch.

Re: Poll: When Will You Buy a PS5?

Unlucky13

It depends wholly on whether AC Valhalla is a PS5 launch title or not. If I can buy the PS5 version the day the system comes out, then I totally want to do so. However, if the PS5 edition is pushed back a few months like some other titles are, then I'll just wait.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Patch 1.05 Adds Lethal Difficulty, Easier Combat Setting, and Text Options

Unlucky13

@Strumtrulescent Oh yeah totally. I always play games very slowly and carefully, finding everything that I can, and exploring every corner before I move on. I did absolutely everything on the first map before I moved onto the second section, and now I've done most things on the lower half of the second one. I have all of my weapons and pouches maxed out, and most of my armor, including two sets that I've gotten in Act 2. If I hadn't, I'd probably die in most battles, lol. The enemies in the second act are no joke. Regular ones will rough me up if I'm not careful. I wish that I was able to carry more throwing weapons and arrows on me, because I run out quickly, and the further into the game that I get, the fewer that the enemies drop when I kill them. And the timing on the stand offs gets harder and harder the further I go. At the end of Act 1, I was getting it right about 75% of the time. Now, its about 25%.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Tsushima?

Unlucky13

@Salt_AU I'm actually having an extremely challenging time with the game, into Act 2. I found it to be brutally difficult at the very start, then I felt that I got the hang of it by the end of Act 1. But now that I'm facing more difficult enemies in the second area, nearly every battle, and every standoff nearly kills me, and some do. And that's all despite me maxing out my skills and equipment as much as I can at a slow pace.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Tsushima?

Unlucky13

Since the game, for reasons unknown, doesn't track time played, I can only guess. But I'd say I've put in between 20-30 hours so far, near the start of Act 2. I went back and completed as much as I could find in the first area before doing anything at all in the second.

So far, I give the game an 8/10. It's very good, and I'm certainly enjoying it. But its not as good as TW3, HZD or AC Odyssey. Maybe not DA Inquisition either.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Release Date Leaked Through Instagram

Unlucky13

What's the big problem with two good games coming out at the same time? Its not like you have to pick only one, and will never play the other, right? I see it as a total win. Play the game you want more (or flip a coin, if you can't choose) and then by the time you're finished with it, maybe the other one has gone on sale.

Either way, with big games like this, it means that for me I have three to four months straight of gaming lined up at that point between the two.

All of that being said, I'm much more looking forward to AC Valhalla, and will wait to buy it with my PS5, whenever that happens. If the PS5 release of the game isn't at system launch, then so be it. I'll be patient.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?

Unlucky13

I've fully expected that $70 would be the cost for PS5 games for a long time. I have no issue paying that amount for new release, AAA games that I buy at launch. But I only buy a couple of games that way every year. Most of the time, I wait for the price to go down, and/or bundle games with B2G1 sales. So the $70 initial price doesn't/won't effect me all that often.

Re: Final Fantasy IX Is 20 Years Old Today

Unlucky13

I've been a huge FF fan since the first one came out on the NES, and have played every one that was released as a new games in the US. 9 is easily, easily my least favorite of the bunch. It was just so lame, almost as if it were made for little kids. As a 22 year old at the time, it was a huge disappointment for me, after having loved the previous ones so much. Luckily, they got back on track, and X, X2 and 12 were all wonderful games......before things went off the rails.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Preferred Game Length?

Unlucky13

@Crowley22g I'm very similar. I play games in a slow, careful and methodical way, exploring and trying to find everything for myself. Because of that, and a desire to do most of the side quests, I find that my personal playthrough tends to be about 25% longer than what's listed as the expected one most of the time.

Re: Poll: What Is Your Preferred Game Length?

Unlucky13

With rare exceptions, 50 hours or so would be my minimum to feel like the game was worthwhile. I like to buy a game, and then put all of my focus into it for about two hours a day for two months straight. 80-120 hours is a really solid experience. And if there's great DLC, then I'll wait until that all comes out, and then do it all again. Dragon Age Inquisition, The Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and AC Odyssey were the all stars of the current generation. Games like The Outer World, Greedfall and Jedi Fallen Order were fun, but I see them as more bargain, $30-40 games than full fledged, buy it at day one experiences.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Games for May 2020?

Unlucky13

I own Cities Skylines already, and its a great game, with the exception that the DLC costs an arm and a leg. I think that they've included it in PS+ for that reason, same as I feel about The Sims 4 earlier. Get people the game free, then have them buy the add ons. That being said, you can still really enjoy it in vanilla mode.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Move Horizon: Zero Dawn's PS4 Launch Away from the Nintendo Switch?

Unlucky13

If it comes out on Feb 28th (or sooner) then its a day one purchase for me. Honestly, Im just killing time right now waiting for it as it is. But if they push it back, even two weeks, then I'm going to just wait for ME: Andromeda, and get Horizon ZD later on. Im sure that there are plenty of other people of my mindset as well, as the audience seems to match up better for ME than it does Nintendo.

Re: Feature: What Do Longtime Final Fantasy Fans Think of Final Fantasy XV?

Unlucky13

I've been playing the series since the start on the NES, from age 13 to 39. There are few things that have been part of my life longer, honestly, especially when talking about pop culture and media. I'm very thankful for the direction that the series has taken with XV, after falling off of a cliff with XIII and its family. I haven't finished the game, but am 60 hours in. I wish that there was an option between "love it" and "its ok", because my feelings fall somewhere in between. There are many things that are great about the game, but many where it falls short of other more recent RPGs from other studios as well. Right now, I'm looking at it as a good experience, and hopefully the starting point of another golden era from Square as they make more.

Re: Hardware Review: How to Extend Your PS4 Controller's Battery Life

Unlucky13

I guess that I'm either very lucky, or don't have the high standards that others might, but I've never seen it as an issue. I game for 1-3 hours a day, and only need to plug my controller in once every three or four days. And since it charges in rest mode, its always ready in the morning after I go to bed. I also tend to get around an hour of game time after it warns me that the battery is low, so there's plenty of time to plug it in and save the game.

I read people saying that the battery is worse compared to the PS3 controller, but I really haven't had that same experience. After using the PS3 as my primary system for eight years, and then the PS4 for the last 18 months, to me the PS4 charge is somewhat better than the PS3's was.

And of course the quality of the controller is MUCH better than the junk that Sony was building (or still is building) towards the end of the PS3's cycle. My original PS3 controllers were great, but after the buttons wore out and I needed to buy new ones, all of the news ones (each one an official dualshock from Sony) were lighter, felt hollow, and would crack around the sticks. Every single one.
