@GADG3Tx87 That's why I don't care about the term "platform exclusive" . I don't really care that PC games exist. I only use or care about "console exclusive".
@GADG3Tx87 shrug I don't count the PC when I think of console exclusives. I mean, there are obviously XBOX games that are on the PC but aren't on the Playstation or Switch, and those count for them, right?
IMO, if it isn't on the XBOX or Nintendo system, its exclusive.
@nessisonett As someone who subscribes to PS+ but will never have any interest in anything like PSNow, I don't want this. I have zero interest in ever "streaming" a game. I want to own the disc, and put it in my machine, and I don't want to have to pay extra for something I'm never going to use.
@Aslanmagic I think that things will get better after the holidays, but not dramatically so, and its going to be gradual. Sadly, as long as the scaplers have the incentive to keep scooping up as many systems as they can, they're probably going to keep doing it.
My hope is that some time in January, we'll start to hear at least educated guesses as to when the first ones will be available in stores. Whether that's in the winter, or not until the summer, I'd at least like to have an idea.
@Aslanmagic I'm glad that you got yours man. Hopefully, as time goes bye, more and more of us will. As far as people on Twitter go, I'm just burnt out on hearing that theyr'e back in stock somewhere, rushing there, doing everything right, and getting shut out again. After months of that, I'm just kinda done. When they're available to anyone who wants one under normal circumstances, I'll get mine then. I'm just throwing in the towel until then.
@r1chard Thank you. What I want is an informed article about when we'll actually be able to go to a store and buy one. Until we get to that point, they're all going to the scalpers and its basically hopeless. After getting so excited for it for about a year, this whole experience has just been a kick in the teeth.
Well, I tried to vote for the only two on the list that I played, Ghost of Tsushima and FFVII Remake, but it won't let me, lol. I'm not going to vote for games I haven't even had hands on with. Maybe adjust the poll to allow fewer options?
I've always intended to just wait until I can get a PS5, and the full PS5 version of the game. Better to wait than to go through a lesser experience, IMO.
SIGH Both ME and DA could have been so, so, so much more, had EA only been hands off and let them do what they wanted to do. These guys had massive ambitions and wanted to make eight games in the DA franchise. They wanted to make what we the fans wanted to play, and they weren't allowed. We'll see what happens now.
My kids still play games on the PS3 all the time, and we use it as our #2 Blu Ray/DVD player (after the PS4). My original one died after four years, sadly, but this one has been kicking for a decade of continuous use.
Unfortunately, there haven't been all that many that I've been interested in in the year (this week) that I've been a member. There were actually a number leading up to that point where I would have played them, and that's what lead me to join, only to see the quality change to ones I either already had or didn't want afterwards. Bad luck on my part, I guess. And I have absolutely zero backlog now, so I'm really looking for worthwhile games.
@Woogy In an earlier article posted here, it was said that multiple drivers were found to have stopped in the area of the address, driven off, and then later returned with the box with a different item inside. That is extremely suspicious at a minimum.
@jiffymalaise My only one at launch was the PS3. But the PS4 wasn't backwards compatible, and the launch window games didn't interest me at all. This time, there are half a dozen games coming out by the summer that I really want to play, and several out now, plus the ability to improve the ones I already own.
I finally got my PS2 about five months after it launched. Fingers crossed that this wait isn't much longer than that one.
@Mpquikster I have the same fear. I'm worried that next summer might be too optimistic as a hope for when we'll all be able to buy one without getting insanely lucky.
The fact that almost 60% of the people here already have one makes me feel both better and worse at the same time. I'm glad that its not a completely impossible task, but its felt pretty hopeless to me so far. I go online every time a sale is happening the second it starts and keep clicking, but no luck.
Hard drive space has been a problem on my PS4 for years. Every time that I want to play a new game, I have to uninstall something else. Its extremely frustrating, and never ends. Sadly, this looks like it will be a the same problem on the PS5 too.
@Paranoimia Do you get the same speeds on the PS4 that you do on your computer? Mine are nowhere close. And the PS3 took FOREVER to download even patches.
@thefourfoldroot It would be great if we can uninstall parts like you said. That would be huge. I almost never play games online and just want the single player offline component.
I have my PS4 hardwired into my router, and downloading a 40gb game generally takes between 3-5 hours. Meanwhile, downloading a file the same size on my PC via WiFi usually takes a matter of minutes, tops. Same house, same internet.
Fingers crossed that things are better with the PS5!
They're going to try and sell as many white ones at first as they possibly can, knowing most people want more than one controller, and will buy what's available. Then later, they'll release the other ones, and people will buy a third or fourth in the color that they actually prefer, regardless of whether they need more than two.
The big question for me is whether the overall quality of the later controllers will suffer, as it did with the PS3 and PS4. In both cases, I still have the originals that I bought with the system when it came out, but others purchased since then have broken or worn out and can't be repaired.
I played ME2 three times, and ME3 twice, but I'm still looking forward to it to be able to play ME1 for the first time. However, I'm interested to see how integrated the three games are. Hopefully, there's something more to it than all there simply being on the same disc, and the gamer choosing which one to jump into, like some other collections have had.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been living with a maxed out PS4 hard drive for years. I'm constantly at the edge, and regularly have to delete things even to do game updates. Its so frustrating. Before they announced how small the HD would be on the PS5, I would have never imagined that this would be such a problem.
Its extra frustrating, because my kids will want to play about ten different games over the course of a month, so in addition to my own games that take up 40-100 gigs each, I'm constantly loading and deleting theirs, which average 15-30g too.
Plus the save data by itself takes up about 10g as well.
@stinkyx I didn't play it for almost a year after it came out, with many patches, and I enjoyed it. Its too bad that EA corporate messed with them so much and didn't let them create the game that they wanted to. It would have been awesome.
I guess we'll see how much of an issue loading games is on the PS5. Madden and The Show can take hours on my PS4, so once I take them off to free space, I usually don't reinstall them even if I want to play them again. Other games vary.
I've still never played the first one, so I would be interested if they can seemlessly integrate all three games into one big one. I guess we'll see what the news is.
The other thing that comes to mind is that if the PS5 can do this, and do it for PS4 games, why can't we just go to the PSN and see the same info there?
This is some of the news that I've been waiting for! I've wanted this for twenty years. But as far as the PS4 goes, I wonder if that is still true if you play while not connected to the internet. For example, if I put 100 hours into a PS4 game in 2014 while never online, and then deleted the game to create space, does the PS4 still remember that, and then transfer that info to the PSN when I do connect? I guess we'll find out.
Hopefully, after November, Sony gives us some kind of idea what to expect from that point on for everyone who hasn't gotten one yet. What production will look like, and how quickly they'll get onto actual store shelves.
I wasn't aware until about two years ago that Dragon Warrior and Dragon Quest were the same thing. DW was my first RPG, which I got only shortly after getting my NES in 1988. I also played DW2, but then didn't think much of it until I played DQ XI.
So I suppose that I've been a fan for the whole time, but took about a 27 year break in the middle, lol.
@Medic_Alert Yeah, who knows when we'll all even be able to buy one. A lot of the games might be out before I even get my hands on one. Might make them cheaper that way I guess, if its Spring or Summer before the system is widely available.
AC will be my first title. Zero question. Also absolutely getting Sackboy, and will almost certainly upgrade No Man's Sky. Weren't we told that Rachet & Clank would be a launch window title also?
@AJDarkstar I was a Nintendo guy for about ten years before jumping to the PS1 in 1997 for Final Fantasy and sports games. I later became obsessed with Gran Turismo too. When the PS2 came out, I was still obsessed with those types (and still am), but then I also expanded my horizons with others too. Then with the PS3, I really started getting into a lot of the other exclusives.
@AJDarkstar Probably just a matter of taste, but I was never interested in anything on the Dreamcast at all. A close friend had one, and it just didn't appeal to me. On the flip side, the PS2 library was overflowing with games that I liked and wanted to play.
I was in my first year out of college when the PS2 released. I went to Gamestop to preorder that March, and was told they were already sold out, but they let me pay in full with the promise that I'd get one on the second shipment. Well, time came and went, and I called and stopped in every week after the release, and eventually got one in March 2001, a full year after I paid for it. I was so mad that I had to work so hard to get something that I'd already paid a lot of money for. Money that I absolutely didn't have in those days. That was the one and only time I preorderd a console.
It was such a HUGE jump from the PS1. The graphics and details were such a step up, that when I was expecting the same thing with the leap to the PS3 in 2006, it was a huge letdown. The PS2 was a really solid system.

Horizon Zero Dawn was the immediate choice for me. No idea why its not on the list.

My PS5 list:
1) AC Valhalla, whenever I can get a PS5
2) Horizon: Forbidden West

4) Ratchet & Clank
My PS4 List:
1) Biomutant
2) Edge of Eternity
3) Tales of Arise

Either way, I'm done buying PS4 games beyond titles that aren't releasing on the PS5. I'll just wait and pause gaming if that's what it comes to.
