It looks as though GTA 6 is already performing very well for Rockstar and Take-Two.
As reported by Variety, the publisher recently had an earnings call with analysts about the last quarter, and it reports total net bookings of $1.39 billion.
A portion of that total will come down to the massively anticipated open world title, as Take-Two opened up pre-orders during the last quarter — though only for its last five days.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, didn't go into numerical details about pre-orders, but said they have gotten off to an "exceptional start", which is hardly surprising.
It's not known how that quarterly bookings total breaks down, though "better-than-expected performance" from the NBA 2K and GTA franchises were noted by Take-Two.
Net bookings are not equal to revenue; this metric for the same quarter came to $1.53 billion.
Excitement for GTA 6 is off the charts, as it has been for a long time. It's such an enormous launch that it's partnered with Netflix to debut an extended gameplay reveal, which just seems bonkers to me.
Anyway, it seems safe to say that a lot of people are pre-ordering GTA 6, and that it's going to an unprecedented success when it finally launches in November.
