@naruball I think I get it now. Sony takes the moral high ground by setting a better acquisition example staying multiplatform. They cannot out buy Microsoft, but they can influence their actions potentially. By remaining multiplat, they put Microsoft under pressure to play nicer. At least in principle.
Although tbh, all these acquisitions of Microsoft's are really for the next generation of consoles, because it will take that time for the current agreements to run out (and for Bethesda to actually make the games). But this way Sony has ammo in its pocket too, as it can always change tactics later on.
But for now, I think it's trying to defuse the current situation. Also, probably reassures investors, as Sony stock took a beating after the Activision acquisition.
I do wonder, if Microsoft targeted EA too, if monopoly laws might get invoked.
@LiamCroft I think the selection method might be a matter of taste. I'm finding it just fine, quite satisfying actually. Have never played a point and click adventure which isn't slightly fiddly at times though tbh
Gotta admit I'm not experiencing those issues yet, and after sussing it out, find the object selection method quite satisfying. And love the game so far...
@GADG3Tx87 feel the same. Microsoft's move just makes me dislike them more. They want to brute force the industry and try to force a Gamepass future. I'm not playing that game. I think many others feel the same way too
@carlos82 I think they may be exclusives but it's a big gamble. They'll need to triple or quadruple Gamepass subscriptions to make it work. I think that's their gambit. Through everything at Gamepass to try and make it a sustainable model. And if it fails just sell them on. Looks like quite a desperate final move for Microsoft. If it goes wrong, and they can't reinvent the industry as a predominantly Gamepass driven system (sigh) then I think they'll more or less quit. But they have the money to eat the system. They just spent a third of PlayStation's annual revenue on one publisher!
@Ralizah am excited by the combination of haptics and 3d audio. Like in Alien Isolation when the sound, DS4 speaker, light, rumble all come together so you are tracking the alien with sound, sight and touch all at the same time...
Given the Stunning accessibility features of TLOU2, I don't doubt that Sony will do well by disabled players around the world. Plus it's likely the new rumble features etc will bring new possibilities to the table for disabled players, and the fact that the DualSense has firmware that can be updated just adds even more to the mix. Change is always both exciting and stressful but Sony will do the right things I'm certain...
@get2sammyb like with Witcher 3 just love exploring the world and soaking in the atmosphere amidst standoffs, Shinto temples and various side quests I stumble across
@darksoul77 agree with you. I just don't think it should be imposed for all Devs. Favours large Devs and publishers against small and indie Devs struggling to survive
I don't think Microsoft or Sony should be dictating what developers do. We want great optimisations not half arsed jobs done because they have to do the work for free. Especially for smaller Devs this could prove financially tricky. You don't go from economy to first class for free. You don't eat at a top class restaurant for the same price as a McDonalds. You don't get a free Xbox Series X by trading in your Xbone. So why should Devs be forced to give us upgrades for free?
@hotukdeals it's kind of disengenuous as Sony has already said all games certified from July onwards MUST be forwards compatible, which is what they said for the pro, which for almost every game meant not only compatibility but also benefits
@ShaiHulud if they're on the SSD, then it's hard to imagine not, given the raw data transfer speeds - I actually wonder how they'll optimise for this, as some loading screens exist to give hints. But I'd imagine it'd be a given they'd benefit, unless they purposefully introduce delays to slow loading down.
@Juanalf lol I thought the exact opposite , but I'm getting the one with the disc drive regardless. I like how the digital one looks like it's floating!
@RevDrGalactus I guess until we see the teardown and cooling solution, it's hard to tell. There may be some good reasons. Also I think they are trying to make it look smaller than it is, which they appear to have achieved?
@Alpine021 my original thoughts, but then reflected on every ND game, and all are multidimensional, even the weaker ones. It won't be like that, there will be a twisty, character driven story with highs and lows and various moods and lots of surprises
@zimbogamer I just can't see how it can be. The gameplay is so specific, how can you re-imagine it - you'd upset so many fans. On the other hand, it is niche, in terms of sales, that it doesn't sound likely.
So, platinum games, famed for its need for fast response for it ultra fast gameplay, prefers a platform with lag...! Maybe he likes the challenge of it, but just seems weird to me. I'm excited for PS5, moreso than I was for PS4 and PS3
@armondo36 I think they've had to completely rethink their marketing. Originally had mini hands on events planned (makes sense for the DualSense and 3d audio). Now they can't do those things, they've had to completely redesign their strategy. Will be really interesting to see how they do it
I think Sony has been blindsided by covid19. They had planned mini events where the media would probably have been able to go hands on with the Dualsense and experience 3d audio and report on them. I've no idea how Sony is going to adequately convey those now. They've had to do a major rethink on how to present the PS5
Am really curious how Sony are going to show the benefits of the 3d audio and haptics. They were originally going to do lots of little hands on events, which now makes perfect sense. I wonder how they'll get all this across in online only events. I guess we've not long to see (but they've probably had to rethink a lot of things as a result of the lockdown)
@MarcG420 I wonder - I reckon shortage of supply of ps5, and people looking drawn in by the hype but taking advantage of PS4 inevitable price cut might just make that happen. I haven't seen the sales over time compared to the PS2, for comparison, but PS3 was expensive and short on initial games. Ps5 might be the same, especially with the current world situation. Just thoughts.

Ha ha! What a load of rubbish! Just because Microsoft can't do it, doesn't mean it's wrong, as Sony, Nintendo, Sega etc have been proving for years!
Re: As Microsoft Looks Poised to Discontinue Xbox One, Sony Has a Huge Opportunity with PS4

Re: Xbox Boss Believes Microsoft Is in Very Good Position, Will Be Able to Demonstrate Hardware Advantages Over PS5
@JJ2 that's the only thing I agree with, Sony 100% needs a significantly quieter console with the PS5. Given the size of it, I'm optimistic.
