Re: February PlayStation Plus Games Announced

Splints

Wouldn't be suprised if Knack 2 sales go up next month. Knack was a decent game that my kids loved and did not deserve the hate it got.

Either way try it for yourself if you have not played it before its worth a playthrough.

Re: Quantic Dream 'Surprised' by Allegations About Studio Culture

Splints

Im really tired of people being accused in the media without any proof or charges. I miss when the media presented the news and you could take most of what they said as fact.

There seems to be no rules anymore and every news publication has turned into gossip girl.

I find it funny that almost every day lately there have been accusations against someone or someplace but there never seems to be any legal charges that follow. If something illegal took place the police would investigate would they not?

I just feel like it is really easy to accuse someone of doing something which can ruin there life without it even ever happening. And if you are lying? They give you a slap on the wrist and tell you not to do it again. But the accused still lost everything.

Its time for news media to be held accountable and only present cases with charges. If someone comes to them with evidence they should call the police and help the victim in that way.

Re: Guide: The Best PS4 Local Multiplayer Games

Splints

Me and my sons go to game is towerfall. Spulunky multiplayer is fun as well (hope they add to it in spelunky 2) and paperbound is a good one as well. I havent played Gang Beasts yet but we have been waiting a couple of years for that to come out on ps4.

FYI, Rocket league can be played couch online as well.

Re: Feature: 5 PS4 Firmware Update Features We Need in 2018

Splints

@Athrum This! Some games I have the first trophy for basically turning on the game and then disliked the game. This feature would be worthwhile.

Seeing my gametime and what I play would both be scary and rocketleague already keeps track of that for me anyways.

And I also could care less about name changes. Ive had Splints as my go to name since Everquest in 1998. Someone had taken the name on PSN before I made my profile so I am now Splints7... No biggy...

Re: Feature: 5 Ways PS4 Can Dominate in 2018

Splints

@Fight_Teza_Fight I agree with your statement. I actually think it is pretty sad how irrelivant xbox has made its own console. It probably has something to do with the higher ups always pushing windows... With all the games on pc and windows being on every product they have... Windows sucks, and if the average pc owner had any realistic option with full support they would walk away from it every time.

It says a lot about your product when its sales are based on a monopoly. I digress though in just saying that I used to want to play Halo 1/2, and fable. This generation and even the 360 gave me nothing I needed. Ps3 gave me four of my all time favourite games in infamous, demon souls, uncharted 2, and puppeteer (among many other greats) and I cant keep up with the PS4 games I want to play.

Add me to this years sales as I am going to make the jump to pro.

Re: November 2017 NPD: PS4 Dominates Hardware Sales with Best Ever Month, Call of Duty Is King

Splints

@PS_Nation This is why I don't post here a lot. This is a playstation blog and an article about how well the playstation sold and they take offense to you acknowleding its dominance in the market.

Then they allow nintendo/xbox fanboys to come on here and spew their misinformation and call people on this site fanboys its called "pushsquare" not "but-its-4k" or "strap-your-dongle"

The ps4 had more exclusives, better support, modern graphics, better future announcements, VR support, and Oh yeah a better price

Re: Reaction: Sony Must Pick Between PSX or Paris Games Week

Splints

I agree that between those two they need to pick one. They are too close together.

I do believe that if they plan events like they should that they have enough content to fill 3-4 presentations a year. I mean they had updates for death stranding and dreams at the gaming awards.... Those with the jax (ps2), medieval, all the VR announcements and the playthrough of Detroit they did would have been worth a psx presentation.

Re: PSX 2017: Ghost of Tsushima Eclipses the Scale of inFAMOUS: Second Son

Splints

@themcnoisy I agree I loved both play throughs of second son. Infamous 1 will always be my favourite as Cole is my favourite character. Delsin was a little flat in comparison but the game was solid and fun.

That being said I am super hyped for GoT. Suckerpunch is my only day one buy company as they have never let me down.

Re: Gang Beasts Drunkenly Lurches onto PS4 Next Month

Splints

@Quintumply same here i love a couple of couch multiplayer games with quick rounds. My mainstays have been towerfall and spulunky easy, quick to load, fun to play. Although, thats you! Seems to be a fan favourite lately and as always some sports games. Which are your regular go to games?

Re: Missing Bloodborne Monster Finally Hunted Down

Splints

@Bliquid @uMuffin @KirbyTheVampire I think you are missing the appeal of these games if you are asking for a difficulty slider. Dying is a part of the gameplay. Its supposed to be challenging and strategic. If you could just put it on easy and walk through the game you would miss what makes these games so special and so enjoyable.

As Bliquid said these games will not hold your hand and that is exactly what makes them amazing. Believe it or not but everytime someone like you say they gave up or couldn't do it it makes it that much more enjoyable for those of us that stuck with it.

The best feeling is when I beat Bloodborne's final boss. The thrill, the rush, the releif, the sense of accomplishment...

Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

Splints

@kyleforrester87 did my own research lol.

Tomb Raider 2013
-cost 100 million to make
-Sold 1 million in 48 hours (60mil)
-Sold 3.5million in 26 days (210mil)
-Had sold 8.5 million by April 2015...
-Highest selling Tomb raider ever
-turned profit in its first year.
-was deemed as an utter failure

Edit: deemed a failure by its square. Everyone else thought they were crazy.

Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

Splints

So honest question here. Do games really cost more than $60 million from creation to customer?

I only ask because even the worst AAA game usually sells 1 million before a price cut. Say after a price cut it sells another million which sounds reasonable you are already up to $100 million that has to have profit no?

Maybe the problem is that companies expect too much profit from any one product?

Re: Review: Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (PS4)

Splints

@Bliquid I agree that in a very broad sense all video games would be RPG's. Just as I assume you would agree that a lot of lines are blurred in regards to specific genres and most games are defined with 2 or more genres.

I also agree that this is a very action oriented RPG. But I still think it has the 3 elements to an RPG that you need. You control a character, in a fictional world, and you complete quests. I would call it an action/rpg in the vein of Zelda and you would call them both action adventures I suppose...To each their own. Don't really want to argue just wanted to point out that there are games like ff7 that are 100% an RPG but do not fit any of your qualifications.

Re: Review: Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (PS4)

Splints

@Bliquid I feel like you are really stretching to try and not call this an rpg. "The exact definition of an RPG" is any game where you take control of a character(s) and do quests in a fictional world.

I get that you like crafting but come on man FF7 had no crafting whatsoever...are you going to say that it wasnt an RPG? It also had little to no dialog options with absolutely no change to the outcome. Yet it has gone down as one of the best RPG's of all time.

You can argue you don't like it all you want or that it should have had more crafting...but it is an RPG by its very definition.

To answer your question. I would argue that COD is a FPS and not a RPG as it is usually a world based on reality... Where as something like metroid is an FPS/RPG hybrid.

If you like RPG/Crafting sims you could always play Minecraft?

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part II's New Trailer Too Much?

Splints

@DLB3 Women should obviously wear burkas at all times because the mere sight of a womens abdomen is obviously over sexual.

The strongest person in this trailer was the WOMAN who had caught the other two women and was obviously in control of the two men. But its still patriotical because a young kid who happens to be male rescued them. They would have been better off dead than being rescued by a man! /s

Re: PGW 2017: PlayStation Boss Comments on Controversial Last of Us 2 Trailer

Splints

This was a great trailer! Got me hyped. Anyone who says a trailer was missing context...that is the point of a trailer. I don't want to know what this scene is about or who the characters are because I want to play the game.

Also, Anita S. must be having an aneurysm over two "damsels" being rescued by the male kid. Somewhere in America she is crying and that makes this trailer even better.

Re: There Are Some Dead Good Deals in EU Hallowe'en Sale

Splints

@Fight_Teza_Fight the NA store is having a day of the dead sale as well and it has the dead island bundle (1+2) for $15 when seperately they are $4.99 each. They also have the resident evil pack (4,5,6) for close to $40 and they are on for $9.99 each. Sometimes the sale prices just don't make any sense

Re: Wait, Open World, Sci-Fi Action RPG ELEX Is Out on PS4 Tomorrow?

Splints

As a fan of Gothic 1 + 2, which are two of my favorite games of all time. I did have Elex on my radar hoping this game would give me a feeling of something special that the two Gothic games had given me so long ago...

I missed the risen series as Im not a big fan of pirate based games... (played assassins creed up to 3) so I do not know about them. However if anyone hasn't played Gothic I would advise it to anyone.

Re: Naughty Dog Responds to Sexual Harassment Allegations

Splints

@adf86 I came here to say this. Innocent until proven guilty should be the standard for every situation. Believe it or not there are many different reasons why he would make it up and of course there are many ways it could have been covered up.

As a very current victim of a habitual liar who still to this day drags my name through mud with no evidence to back it up and with the only reason to make themselves look better... I find it hard to believe claims until they are proven.

Re: October's Free PlayStation Plus Games Are Available Now

Splints

Both ps4 offerings were on my "to buy list" so Im happy.

I am curious...I wanted to buy rocket league the other day when it was on sale because I love that game but couldnt because I had already "owned" it with Plus. There are actually a few games I want to buy that I already "own" with plus but cant figure out how to purchase an actual copy. Anyone know how to?

Re: Poll: Is Final Fantasy IX the Best Final Fantasy?

Splints

@finalstan Good to hear Im not alone! I found Squall more relatable than most main characters and the love story was in my opinion done so well...and that opening sequence. I caught onto the draw system right away so it never bothered me.

Re: Sony: We Held PS4 Exclusives Back from E3 2017

Splints

@jacobia infamous 1 was to me the perfect game. Good traversal mechanics, tone, enemies, broken city, catastrophic event to set it off, the choice of being good or evil. And that ending. The whole game was just a build up and it worked amazingly. I dont think I will ever quite have that feeling from a game again...I hope I'm wrong... I loved all the infamous games but the first one to me was a 10/10. Ahh to get the prince of lightning back...

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony PlayStation's E3 2017 Press Conference Crush the Competition?

Splints

Just watched the conference now. Looked like everything they showed would be released before next e3? Is this a new plan for them? Im ok with anouncements a couple of years off (2-3 max) for that wow factor if so... They should have shown something new. Even just "suckerpunch" the "game title" then like one screenshot would have done it for me.

Still I was happy with the conference I just feel that everytime they could put the nail in xbox's coffin they hold back... I just dont get it. Then you have to listen to idiots who say multiplats are going to sell better on xbox because of a system thats not even released yet...

Re: Hellblade Gets Seriously Stressed from 8th August

Splints

Heavenly sword was one of my favourite journeys on the ps3. Nariko was such a hot badass heroine and Bohan was so easy to hate and want to kill. Not to mention that final epic battle. Loved it and always hoped for a sequel. This may fill that void

Re: Square Enix Makes Shock Decision to Sell Hitman Developer

Splints

@Flaming_Kaiser although I beat both and I do understand the appeal to those games for people, I found FF9 was like a huge step backwards after FF8 (which was my favourite) and FF10 I just found Tidus too reluctant of a hero (aka whiny) and Wakka too over the top. The only thing keeping me playing was I truly wanted to help Yuna. Orin was the real baddass.

You are right though I can't really say they are bad games just maybe I held the bar too high after 8's story and characters and open world feel right from the opening. That horrible magic system though...

Re: Square Enix Makes Shock Decision to Sell Hitman Developer

Splints

For someone who has always had a soft spot for square. (ff1, 6,7,8 and chrono) I have been very disappointed with them the last 10 years. Taking forever to release games and being dissapointed with games that sell well because they dont hit their "target in sales". I have never really liked the hitman series but you can tell that team does quality games. Hope they find someone like Sony who will let them expand.

Re: Opinion: Why Sony Is Zagging While the Industry Zigs

Splints

@pbernoos for some reason your post brought back good memories of me and my buddy struggling (and scared s##tless) playing through silent hill and resident evil. Those experiences will stay with me forever. Such a good story and atmosphere (shh acting). I played COD modern warfare 2 and MOHAA for years and besides some map layouts I dont remember a thing. (except the vapours lol)

I remember the day I stopped playing COD I thought to myself. "Now that Im done what did I get from the multiplayer experience"... I remember answering "wasted time" and that was the last time I played an online game almost exclusively. I still play rocket league and now disc jam every few days but I am more into SP experiences.

Re: Opinion: Why Sony Is Zagging While the Industry Zigs

Splints

@Dodoo @get2sammyb I'm the sameas well. I miss the days where when you bought a game you got the full game.

I waited very patiently for dark souls 2:sotfs so I would have the complete package. I bought dark souls 3 when it came out and still have barely touched the ringed city. And I Love those games.

Give me a good story and I can overlook almost everything else. I want games I can share with my kids in 10 years. Not a disk thats no better than a coaster.
