@PS_Nation Ninja Theory has a Youtube video up where they explain why they sold out to microsoft by contradicting themselves a lot.

I'll save you the trouble here is the summary: "we always wanted to remain inbetween AAA and Indie and be in control of what games we make: So as soon as we were given the chance we sold ourselves to microsoft"

I know they bought ID software a long time ago. But it always suprises me how many of their games are FPS. Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, and even Fallout and Skyrim are essentially FPS...

Not a knock on them, just always suprised when I think about it

I think their first conference was better but I liked this one too. Over the top and made fun of the industries bad practices.

Microsoft actually had a good conference for gamers. As an Xbox owner maybe not. Phil kept repeating 18 exclusives... 4 were dlc...and a whopping 7 had been announced previously! Add the 4 gears, gears, halo, forza and there wasnt much to get excited about exclusive wise.

I do think it was a good conference though maybe a solid B

Anyone else notice the trailers EA shared for their games were really deceiving? None of the trailers had anything remotely close to gameplay... (except about 5 seconds of battlefield where they showed first person)

I dont think the store can handle another 300 dlc costumes sold seperately, and in packs, then in groups, then by person....

In all seriousness though. I buy DOA because it doesnt take itself seriously...

@gingerfrog I was thinking the opposite. This might be the game that convinces my girlfriend to agree to a VR headset.

Would love it if they could add in fallout 1 and 2 as well... Not even a remaster just playable would be fine (and maybe a modern hud)

Oh and I dont understand the people who say theres only room for nintendo in the handheld market. But then they turn around and say Microsoft needs to stay in the gaming market to give Sony and Nintendo competition.

Honestly the Vita is an amazing device and deserved to sell like hotcakes. If they are intent on selling a portable system again there is one surefire way to make it work.

Sell it a year or so after ps5 comes out, have it link to your ps account, and let it play any digital game you own on ps5 but portable. Oh and dont sell rediculously priced memory cards.

Loved infamous. Sucker Punch is my favorite Playstation publisher. (not to take away from the others who are all amazing.) So Im super hyped for what they are bringing next.

@ShogunRok I will buy a ps5 day one if my digital library purchases can come with me. It would probably convince me to only buy digital as well (love the physical disk though)

@Brodders I'm with you I prefer physical and would have all my games in cases if I could. That being said I own a surprising amount of games this generation (over 150 bought, around 250 with plus) and I only have about 40 in cases. I blame those ps store sales....how do you turn down a game for 3-5 dollars? How?

I need to take vacation time just to put a dent in my backlog...

@Neolit @Rudy_Manchego once you fully upgraded everything i found the runs started to slow down a bit. I was hoping a break from it will give me the push to do the last few runs.

I also got it from plus and to be honest stories is exactly the type of game I want from plus. A solid game that I would have never tried without it.

@Rudy_Manchego I also really liked stories. Haven't quite got the platinum yet but Im working on it lol. Any game made by the same company in a similar vein has my money.

As others have already commented everything Cliffy gets he had coming to him. It just sucks that others got caught up in his fall. I have never seen an individual person get so arrogant over one successful exclusive game.

Just imagine Cory Barlog going onto ign every other day saying how awesome he is for making God of War and that microsoft sucks and that he is just the god of gaming and children cry on the streets wanting to play his games... This is literally what Cliffy used to do on Gametrailers (mind you gametrailers.com was not unbias like they claimed and hense their fall to just a youtube channel)

@get2sammyb sorry, I should have been more clear that I think those people are rediculous and their reasoning is steeped in bias. I only brought it up because its relevant to the post and I think it is hilarious.

Good on GoW though. To be measured a success by its first month is not a common occurance

@get2sammyb 5 to 6 million seems like an easy minimum, but I could be wrong. 10 million lifetime, is also in my opinion, a safe bet. I wonder if a 10% attach rate will satisfy the ignorant naysayers.

Man if it sold 3.1 in its first weekend.... And sold well enough the following three weeks to take top spot... I can only imagine the total sales are 6+ million in a month. Thats my guess but any confirmed numbers after the 3 day mark?

I don't want to say "horde wave encounters" are dead...but they definately don't belong in every game anymore. It would be hard to change uncharted from that now.

I think that is what made the last of us and the soulsbourne series stick out in a good way. They made every enemy dangerous but meaningful. Don't just throw 30 people at me from verying directions. Give me 5-10 enemies in strategic locations that I can encounter in my own way. I want to feel like every encounter was life or death and that I accomplished something.

Thats just my two cents (games like days gone are the exception where they are built with hordes in mind and it makes sense)

As others have said this wouldnt sell me on upgrading to 4k. However, if you already have upgraded its good to know the game looks slightly better and cleaner.

@YummyHappyPills More SKU's would hurt the figures for less SKU's not the other way around.

I have rayman legends...really good game and Im not the biggest platforming gamer. Those music levels are really enjoyable.

I have Risen on ps4... Elex and Gothic are much better games in my opinion but its a solid game. Solid pirate RPG.

I always wanted to try Beyond so im happy with that one.

I was looking for ways to stand out...Little did I know I just had to find a smaller crowd of people craving recognition and scream how awesome everyone in that crowd is.

I honestly don't think they will announce anything until microsoft does. They are crushing in sales and don't need to push the next generation. Im 100% sure they are ready but will bide their time and streamline the performance until release.

Thats not to say they couldnt realease next year. Im sure they have a good idea what it looks like and what its specs are. But like I said you dont play your hand first when you are winning.

@Cheski 100% agree with this. I have been wanting Nioh, Elex, and Surge since their releases but have been waiting for an amazing sale or until Im ready to play them. I have almost 100 games in my backlog but most of them have been bought for under $10 or are plus games... Paying full price for a new release will only be an infamous or a soulsbourne game that I know I will play right away.

@Brasilkilla no mention of metro in article but im with you. If its half as good as the others its a must have. RDR was a bore and the last gta that I thought was fun was vice although some people will yell at me that san andreas was good... I feel like that was where they dropped off in quality.

Am I the only one not hyped for red dead? I kept falling asleep during the first one what a snoozefest. Its the only game in my 35 years of gaming that I actually fell asleep playing... And Ive played some horrible games in my time.

Im probably in the minority here. But I prefer getting games I would have never tried on my own. (ie good indie games) I cant argue with the quality of games they have been giving the last several months but I have always liked the offerings.

My main issue is when I find a game with plus that I really like and then I want to buy it (so i own it) when it goes on sale but the store wont let me.

Man... Cole is one of my favorite characters how is he losing to crash?... I love me some crash games and the remasters are good but common... Thats it Infamous Team Racing needs to be a thing I guess.

@JAMes-BroWWWn ah, yup I definately read what you said the first time differently than what you had meant... And I agree with you. This game seems to get nothing but praise and good press and definately both seemed to have sold more and should have sold more in its first year.

I just hope the success allows them to follow up with another great game in the series.

@JAMes-BroWWWn tomb raider in comparison was released late last gen (160m consoles and pc), was multiplatform, was a known franchise, and sold around 5 million in its first year if I remember correctly.

I think 2.5 is pretty good for a game that really is niche and somewhat unknown but I agree with you that more people should have played it.

On a side note why aren't square freeking out that it didn't sell 150 million copies in its first year and firing the whole team?

My boys are finally old enough to play dark souls and they have wanted to for a long time. Such perfect timing for this game to come out. (would love a demon souls port but I wont hold my breath)

There is a 100% difference between the dashboard and the store. Both of your complaints are about the store. In an article about the dashboard.

You know what? come to think of it I have never bought a movie from the playstation store. How dare they have a menu i have to ignore on their app that I freely use without cost to me to download games that I want instead of going to the store (because stores don't have featured content, flyers, or advertisements). And you know what else? I am hella mad that they have the gull to suggest other games I may like! Who the hell do they think they are! Also, The ps4 store doesn't have ads (besides showing you games) and games don't have ads under them. Unless you are counting them showing you ad-ons or streams of that game...

They put a small square on your dashboard (that you can delete) letting you know about a free trial to a service they own... This is faux outrage and you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

This seems like a very vague reaction from a group that had to do something to try and keep the government out of their business. I think its too vague, doesnt solve the problem and is too little too late.

I still say to this day that the MAIN issue is that you can spend money and not even get what you wanted which is just wrong. There are other issues but the random/gambling aspect is the worst offender.

Regardless of the fact that I think loot boxes are rediculous. At the very least I believe they should have to clearly mark on cases and in digital stores if games have loot boxes and if they are cosmetic or not.

This is something they should have been doing from the start and probably would have avoided all of the backlash. Its the fact they tried to hide it until release and/or didnt tell the uninformed that put this issue into such a talking point.

I liked dead island and I just recently got into saints row. If they are truly not interested in restructuring I dont see an issue with this as THQ is alright in my book as well.

I like Knack but Squall is one of my favourite characters.
